A Conversation about Deer Habitat with Jim Ward: Part 11: Hunting Skills, Cooperatives, Consultants
This is the 11th and final video in a series comprising a discussion between Jim Brauker and Jim Ward while walking Jim Ward's 137 acre south central Indiana whitetail property. We will be releasing these videos in sequence during 2022-24. We were joined on this day by a young habitat consultant named Colin Koskinen.
This video continues from the field into the woods where Jim discusses his continued exploration of the world of deer hunting. Jim allows about 7 guys to hunt own his property. While Jim is hunting the same property and has recently killed two bucks over 160 inches and one over 170, the other 7 guys struggle to get a mature buck. This highlights that no matter how good a property is, how you hunt it really matters. you can create a magical deer haven and still not be able to kill a mature buck.
Jim Brauker is the author of the book "Extreme Deer Habitat" and the web and CZcams sites of the same name. Jim focuses on education of hunters to improve their habitat on their hunting property. extremedeerhabitat.com.
Jim Ward is an expert trophy buck hunter and one of the leading deer habitat specialists in the country. Jim has spent many years traveling around the country and helping people develop their deer habitat plans and properties. Jim is no longer taking on clients but instead is focusing on his own property, the properties of his long term clients, and spending more time educating landowners. jimwardwhitetailacademy.com
Colin Koskinen was behind the camera for these videos and is the owner of a whitetail habitat consulting company called Legendary Habitat. He has worked in the field with both Jim Brauker and Jim Ward and they both recommend him for your habitat plans. www.legendaryhabitat.com

I'm just absolutely amazed at the many that didnt or don't know the thorough importance of washing your body with a wash cloth. All my life I have been taught to use one (wash towel/cloth) to thoroughly clean yourself in the smallest tucks of your body. Loofa's aren't thorough but they are abrasive in this case. My point is a cloth and soap is simple and less expensive, yet 1000% effective for sanitation concerns of all sorts.

I have never been allergic to poison Ivy but I am highly allergic to virginia creeper! It has taken over my property, so I am trying to get rid of it. I have heard you need to come into contact with the sap of creepy Ginny, not so says me! I have done the long pants shirts and hats and even a scarf, I wash with cold water when I am done, clothes go right in washer. To be honest I rarely use chemocals , io am very conscious about what i put into the environment. I have found that Ginny gets a heart laugh out of round up. Digging it up?? Way easier than it sounds, I hope his method works for me, I am definitely trying it

One of the first things I do after mowing near the thicket at my house is a dry rub with paper towels, then go inside and just water and paper towels, then lastly a shower. Have not had a single issue after the first time it happened since I started treating urushoil that way instead of just soap and water for 5 seconds. Rubbing it off with friction really does make all the difference

Why not use this technique and combine it with tecnu afterwards? I don't think the demo with grease proves tecnu doesn't work well. It's not designed to break down grease, it's specifically formulated to break down urushiol. Just my 2¢

i learned one thing.. if you wash the oil from your body while in the shower, you'll have to wash your feet once out of the shower.. otherwise all that oil just accumulated on your feet and you're gonna have a bad time.. (also, ya may have to scrub your wash basin as well ;) )
