I want to say something,I am French-Mexican homoflexible bisexual mormon living in France but I got baptized in Mexico.In Mexico I've met cases of gay and lesbians who came out to their bishops,then they told them they couldn't take the sacraments anymore(yes,even if they were virgins and respected the law of chastity),while here in France I came out to my two last bishops and they told me that I am welcomed at the church and I can get callings and take the sacraments,as long as I respect the law of chastity.Thanks God I didn't come out in Russia or Hungary.

This is exactly what I was taught, and experienced, as an adult convert member from 1969 to 2000. Added to that was 13 years of Clinical Depression, sleep paralysis, and horrific nightmares. All of those maladies stopped when I resigned.

Rather than rehashing well-known second-hand and third-hand stories about Smith’s character, why don’t you go directly to issue of the merit of Smith’s scriptures, especially regarding the doctrine of Christ. Examine Smith’s doctrinal legacy as contained in the scriptures that he wrote and sanctioned during his lifetime. I’m not talking about the historicity of the book. Set that aside. Examine his interpretation of the doctrine of Christ. That is his theological contribution.

When I was 20 and in the army stationed in Germany I met 2 Mormon missionaries. This was before the internet so it was not as easy to research as it is now. They were very nice but after meeting with them regularly for some time, once I understood that Mormons believe in gods and goddesses, I knew it wasn’t true.
