I can tell you this, after doing a lot of checklist as a crew member, airborne in irregular and emergency situations. Luthansa need to go to the civil Aviation authority and have a go at changing the culture, and normal procederes, befor deciding to shock the flying community with this foolish perspective, From the cockpit you do not allays know the full extent of damage done to the aircraft system and the turn rate is not the same when there is an engine out. When I worked for Olympic Airways at JFK airport I overheard the captain talking to the crew and the mechanics regarding one of the 4 engines not working on the 747. This is what he said, word for word "We only have 1/2 a flight and we will go ahead and fly with 3 engines. " No problem, plane made it from NY to Athens Greece.
