This has reminded me just how much of a theme park musical wicked was when it first opened. It was one of those “42nd street is “clean” let’s get some kids entertainment back here to make some money”

I saw Aida 8 times at the Palace Theatre a nd everytime i loved it more and more Heather Headley made this show and the music and staging were amazing Next to Sunset Boulevard its my favourite Broadway Musical !

Avenue Q is awesome but a wicked is far superior

Out of all the Broadway shows I’ve seen in my life. This is the true standout in my memory when I used to live in Atlanta I have the good fortune to be able to see it live. I’ve always wondered if they would ever bring it back and truly wish they would!

That is why I felt like Menzel voice range didn't work with her. Blocks range works way better.

I love the bootlegs. I saw Wicked in 2007 as a freshman in high school, with my school’s marching band as our yearly trip. I remember not completely liking it because, well, it wasn’t the OG cast and I’m really really picky when it comes to actors and singers. Last month I read the book by Gregory Maguire and decided to go looking on CZcams for bootlegs from around the time that I saw the show, to remind myself of the actors that I wasn’t super thrilled with. I ended up finding the COMPLETE SHOW in a bootleg with the exact cast I saw. I watched the whole thing and arrived at the same conclusion, I didn’t really like the cast other than Kendra Kassebaum as Glinda, but the actress who played Morrible was exceptional as well. I was so glad to be able to see what I had already seen, to see it through adult eyes rather than my 14 year old eyes back then. I truly do not understand why films of each super popular musical are not made, like Cats. No, I don’t mean the new extremely cringey adaptation, I mean the stage production that was filmed in 1998. I absolutely adore that film so, so much and have watched it countless times over the years. Why not film a show with the original cast and sell it to those who can’t get themselves to an actual show or afford the ticket prices? Gatekeeping isn’t cool. I would buy a filming of the OG cast of Wicked immediately.

What a fantastic video! Really interesting, and incredibly well made. Thank you for including Danna Paola in that ending montage- the youngest pro Elphaba ever at 18(!) and she killed it. Again, loved this whole thing from start to finish ❤

Not sure is this correct, but I heard Kristin left the show early because of medical reasons. Anyway, they are still sisters and Krisin performed For Good almost every of her show with multi-languages version of Popular. They still love the show. Thank you for gehteraing all these information so I can now introduce Wicked to my friends and see if they wanna join me to the sing along in movie coming out later this year.

Thank god they didn’t make the Beyoncé / Xtina movie they’re not the right ones. Would love to see Cynthia Erivo and Renee Rapp do it

1939 Wizard of Oz by far is the best movie and for the time how great it looks stuff today sometimes don’t even look as good and I read somewhere that they wouldn’t even be able to make that today because it would cost so much money nowadays in the remakes, they try to change it too much and we get too modern and that makes it terrible in my opinionI’ve never seen the wicked movie. I’m gonna listen to see what I think because I have always wondered about the backstory of the wicked witch of the West and the good witch Glenda.

I am Japanese and one of my bucketlist was watch wicked at Broadway. The day came on few years ago and when I hear first note, I start to cry and all trough the show I was crying. How beautiful this story is and master work of people who are making this show happen. I AM AN OWE OF IT. I can't wait to see movie coming up. I will buy DVD and cherish it for sure. How amazing who made all of songs of wicked. All the song is just magic. Genius.

Finally, in 2024 it looks like we're finally going to see the first Wicked movie by the end of the year. It's only the first half of the show though.

This is one of my favorite shows. It's soooooo good! The energy, music, choreography, acting, everything is phenomenal. I got to see it on Broadway and again on the national tour.

In all my subsequent rewatches, I'm still almost always surprised to hear that Katherine hadn't been an original part of the film. Like, she is so integral to the story it was unfathomable to me. The way it's explained here - how she was the puzzle that completed the picture, decades later - is heartwarming.

My first trip to NYC was to see this show while it was still in previews. Most of the music was phenomenal (there was one song I couldn't stand). The cast was incredible. The set was boring as hell (a box made of green streamers). A few tweaks and it would have been amazing. It sounds like Germany made those tweaks and it was amazing. I would love to see a revival where it's done right.

1:06:51 As a Mexican I'm so happy you included the Mexican performance, fun fact, Danna Paola is the youngest actress to play Elphaba, she was just 17 when she started. She did not disappoint at all by being so young. And I think thats why since the beginning there were always 2 elphabas, not an understudy but another main, they shared the shows from the start and until the end, eventually there were also 2 Glindas so by the end there was a lot of different experiences on each show depending on which Glinda and which Elphaba were programed

Ethiopia? Isn't the show about a conflict between Ancient Egypt and Nubia? As far as I can tell, Nubia is in modern-day Egypt and Sudan. Where does Ethiopia come into play?

Wicked is such a special musical to me since it was the first musical I saw

I've seen the Little Mermaid at tuacahn twice. The effects with the sheets of water and fly system are insane. Ariel swimming up to the surface behind a curtain of water- absolutely incredible effects!!
