Lambdas are just java objects, that are passed as parameters to java methods. As simple as that. These objects can be seen as objects of anonymous inner classes that implement certain "single abstract method" interfaces. Compilation of the java file containing lambdas doesn't produce separate inner class files for the lambdas, but when the java program is running, attack jstack it's process id, and we can notice the anonymous inner classes representing the lambdas in the thread stack traces output by jstack utility Passing Lambdas (i.e. objects) as method parameters, allows the user the privilege of deciding when actually to execute the method. Thus, redundant or unwanted executions of methods can be prevented Lambdas, among many other benefits, can help to prevent Stack Over Flow exceptions in recursive programs. Usage of lambdas in place of the recursive function calls prevents the stack over flow.
