Want to make sure you all know that I did this flight back in 2019 and so a few things have changed. Runway numbers at ADS are different now. Thrust Flight does not rent out planes anymore. And not sure if you can still practice touch and goes at McKinney or not. So check with your school if that is still available. Still a great video to share with you all. FYI I own the rights to the music used on this video.
Great explanation, awesome aircraft! Thanks!
Thank you! Much appreciated. Yes, definitely an awesome plane.
Excellent video, nice flying, nice airplane. The Vashon Ranger seems to be a good solution for those who want to go with a high-wing certified light sport aircraft. A big plus is the very reasonable price tag. I like that it's made from aluminum and has no wing strut. I bet it's easy to get in and out. Unfortunately, I hadn't had a chance to see one in real let alone fly one. What I do not like so much is the free-casting nose wheel, so the plane is steered with differential braking, which can be a real pain. Nonetheless seems to be a great plane. I wonder if the plane could be flown on those hot summer days without the doors; my guess is that it cannot, but is that true?
Thank you, very well said. Personally I don’t have any issues with steering. Actually I like it better. It turns 360 degrees by just applying one break and some power. Less maintenance too. I love this plane for many reasons, but one I like the most is the modern avionics and also the view without struts. Perfect for aerial photography.
Oh, and flying without the doors is not possible. Wind would be too strong inside the cabin making it very uncomfortable. It gets cooler as you fly higher anyway.
@@rickvergara8438 Thanks for your reply. My recent flying experience is from the Bristell 23. We must keep the canopy open on hot days until ready for departure. The Bristell has no openings in the canopy, only two small vent openings under the dash. But you are correct. Once at altitude, it is much better. The Zenith 750 Cruiser is one of the high-wing configurations that can be flown without doors, but the doors seem smaller than the Vashon Ranger doors. Flying without doors is pretty cool for aerial photography, with no reflection. Just don't drop the camera. 😂 Enjoy your Ranger, Thanks Christoph
Thanks Chris. Yea, flying without doors could be something. There are always some items that could fly off the plane if not secured correctly. The windows in the Ranger provide great ventilation. I actually feel better doing photography in the Ranger because there’s no way you can lose your camera because the window opening is perfect just to fit your camera lens through the window and get clear shots with no reflections. Now, taking pics with your iPhone could be tricky because the force of the wind through the window would definitely assure losing your phone. When taking fun cellphone pics I get the phone as close as I can to the glass to minimize glare. Oh, and the Ranger is a rental from my favorite flight school, In The Pattern in Denton Tx. Best flight school for sure. Great folks, great planes and all. They have two Rangers in their fleet. Thanks Chris.
Aaron is an awesome pilot. She did great!
Great! You're so relaxed. You should be a CFI
Thank you. I wanted to a while back but now I just fly for fun. I love flying with friends and family and sharing the love for flight.
I always enjoy your videos thank you
Thank you.
I love your Videos Rick. Found your video by a accident but enjoying watching your Videos a lot. I love the Ranger 7.
Thank you!
Good decision. Gusty crosswinds can be nasty for the unexperienced.
@flexairz I agree, however, crosswinds can be nasty no matter if experienced or not. I am experienced, skilled and trained to deal with strong crosswinds. But I’m also smart and safe. I fly for enjoyment only. If I don’t need to fly I just won’t. As a pilot in command you are responsible for the safety of that flight. The maximum crosswind component for the Ranger is 15 knots. On this flight the crosswind was 21 knots which exceeds the Ranger’s maximum crosswind component limit.
Excellent teaching aid. 👏
Thank you!
GREAT video! I had a chance to get a demo flight in the Ranger and I'm so looking forward to getting one of my own.
Thank you Hans. Glad you like my video and the Ranger. Hope to get my own someday too. Be sure to get the 3 button panel. Alt, Baro and Hdg TK. Makes flying much easier than pushing down and turning the selector button.
Wow man. You are so lucky to be able to fly. Looking forward to more videos.
Thank you. I feel blessed.
Please make more Ranger vids, if you have time!
Roger. Working on more coming soon. Thank you!
Such a pretty plane. Truly the 21st centuries version of the C150!
Thank you! You are definitely right.
It’s got the Dynon Skyview avionics. Totally awesome.
@@rickvergara8438 yes, that's what makes it the 21st century version!
How about a tail dragger version? Then I'm interested!
Interesting… Me personally I would not want to try a tail dragger. That requires a special skill and not to be too heavy on those brakes. If you’re into a tail dragger airplane feel free to reach out to the Vashon folks and see if they would be willing to go that route.
Im saving for one now or a Colt I have a long time to figure it out but it will happen lol.
Wishing you the best in 2022 and hope you achieve your goals.
I hope you're able to achieve your dream sir
