    Any of those people who lost their minds with this technique are complete idiots. Keep your dumb-ass comments to yourself if you don’t understand the concept of what’s going on here. It’s an EXPERIMENT you morons! The record was trashed to begin with. This is NOT an instructional video meant to influence anyone! This is an idea being shared. I applaud this guy’s efforts to take the initiative to try something different no matter how strange it may seem. You know what? I’m willing to bet NONE of the commercial record cleaning products out there were not put on the market without a lot of trial, error, and testing in order to make “crazy” ideas come to life. In my opinion, this video is an act of brilliance!

    I can't believe this !!! By the time you have bought all the products used, it would be cheaper to buy a replacement copy of the record. I did notice that the cartridge fitted to the deck appears to be a ceramic similar to that on a CROSLEY . It would be interesting to hear the results when the record was played on a high end turntable with a MC CARTRIDGE. I have been collecting records for nearly all of my life, my parents getting me started before I was 5 years old and would NEVER use anything like this to clean my records. 😂😂😂

    It was a trashed record that Bruce took the time to show us a method he used to fix the issues. Bravo to you sir! I don't know. I'd like to see what an engineer thinks of this. The crackles are gone, but it also sounds slightly muffled. If I found crackles intolerable, I wouldn't waste my time with vinyl. (As it happens, I listen to the lps I brutalized as a child)

    1-Did you use Sandalphon type of sanding paper to begin with...? If you didn't , no matter what ''mechanical'' issues you hope to take care of with the much touted digital revolution's ''improvements'' or what not, you aren't going to enjoy , for its UNfixable tracks , those analog great sounds of old, as Jonah's playing on the background, that most likely you yourself never heard live.. 2-Still yours is the choice to listen to Jonah, , and to the man backing him up. Him of the blue gaze playing the right notes , for after all it's you who's pimping up your whole set up. 3-...Shema and heed, mi boy and company; down the sweet middle in the groovy key of Truth and life. Personally I would not put all that weight on the stylus and cartridge it will damage the stylus and record just adjust your Ballance weight on the back of your tone arm correctly and the anti skate I am not a collector I was a mobile DJ in the 70 s and worked with vinyl records that was all we had I never had to many problems with them that is just my personal opinion and experience everyone has a different idea

    Great video Bruce. I've used 2000 grit wet sanding paper before, it does work. I scrolled thru a lot of comments and didn't find an answer for what I was wondering about. A couple questions though if you don't mind. What grit diamond paste did you use and what did you use as the applicator?

    • @BruceKinsey
      @BruceKinsey Před rokem

      Hey Mike. Thank you for your comment. The last I did anything on this was 5 years ago. My inability to shoot acceptable video and too many “expert” opinions took the fun out of it. The reason I added the diamond paste is many responders wanted to know how to make the record look new. I eventually realized the reason was so they could sell them online as such. Diamond paste does not create a perfect surface and the worked areas are noticeably different no matter how much expensive paste you use, so don’t get your hopes up. As an applicator, I believe I used a dense closed cell foam pad glued to a simple 3D printed handle. Dense foam is the key. Softer will polish inside the groove. I used the finest (and most expensive) paste I could find and still rely it on it for watches. Good luck!

      @@BruceKinsey 👍 Understood. I’m not interested in selling any of my albums. I’m more interested in getting rid of that dull spots so they look decent after the wet sanding. My daughter can sell them if she wants when I’m gone but I doubt that she will. She likes vinyl too. Have a great Christmas and new years.

    Late to the game her so I will consider myself fortunate if I get e reply. First off thank you for the education and sharing your experience with us. I have some older albums (nearly 50 YO or more) that have what I'd describe as spider web scratches. The pops and clicks are bad and make the record nearly UN-listenable. I've cleaned with a Record Dr and ultrasonic with little improvement. What can be done?

  • @gooddogtrainingservices5351

    The only unfair thing about this comparison is when you play the record the needle dig out a decent amount of crap the first past through so I would do that first at least for the portion I’m going to test or if you clean them and it doesn’t get all the junk out the needle sure as heck job to collect it for you

  • @crunchyfrog555
    @crunchyfrog555 Před 2 lety

    This means well but is a terrible idea. There's no denying it sounds fine now. But that's only a tiny part of the issue. Long term this is HORRIBLE. Using sandpaper on a record is dreadful, not so much what it does to the vinyl directly, but more than that. When you play a record, the vinyl actually heats up and softens very briefly (due to the pressures involved). This is why when you have dust or detritus in the groove, it sticks there. So imagine what the residue sand you can't see is doing. And also guess what that stuck detritus from the sandpaper does to a stylus. Wears it out in record time (no pun intended). Furthermore, NEVER use stuff like googone on a record. It might look sparkly clean but you're leaving residue on there. This is why when you clean a record you should only use distilled water with a drop of something like isoprop or a wetting agent to break the skin of the water. So sorry, he means well but he's not understanding the issues properly. Oh and never use a carbon fibre brush like that with pressure. It should be held lightly over the record. This video serves as a great informative video on what NEVER to do.
