Nice review! Does anyone know if the handle arms are the same length between the 20 and 25 or is the 25 longer?
Hi @caseyscott9071. The handle arms are the same length on Shimano Talica 20IIA and 25IIA reels.
What size reel do you have the rod paired with? 4000?
Hi @aaronjames563. The reel is the Shimano Miravel MIRC3000HG with a G.Loomis GCX Inshore Spinning Rod. Most likely the GCX 844S. You check out the reel and rods in the link below. Thanks. Shimano Miravel Spinning Reels: www.meltontackle.com/shimano-miravel-spinning-reels.html G.Loomis GCX Inshore Spinning Rods: www.meltontackle.com/g-loomis-gcx-spinning-rods.html
Thanks!
Dear Tracy, Which would you recommend more for big bluefin jigging at night, these reels or the visx16?
Hi @nancyn3863. The Penn VISX16 is heavier than the new Shimano Talica 20II or Talica 25II. The new Talica 20II or Talica 25II would be better in terms of weight. The Talica 20II can catch tuna at around 180 pounds or under. The Talica 25II can catch tuna up to 200 pounds and would allow you to have more line than the Talica 20II.
Hi Tracy thank you for your response. Last question, which one would you choose if you were doing this like once a year or so. I noticed that the visx 16 is 36 ounces and the talica 20 is also 36 ounces per the specs. Does the visx allow you to get larger fish? Sorry,I can’t get out to your store to try them in person because I live far so I would have to order online which is why I’m asking.
IMO, the key to this product is to keep from spending $600 for each size adjustable butt.. The only time I worry about the number of butts, is when flying. A lot simpler to carry 1 or 2 butts instead of 4 or 5 and paying the scarelines another $40 each direction.
so they kind of copy the Avet raptor series when it come to the double drag disc
good produk
Hi there - great video - thanks! Quick question: I am interested in buying the 1800 for trolling with a 6lbs lead. Very thin braid to fish in 60m depth (0.33mm/22kg). Would you recommend the 1800 or shall I go for the 1200? Any difference regarding brake (needs to be adjustable very accurately - trout needs to be able to go / brake needs to release). Thank you very much for your advice. Best!
Hi @kriegerkony. If you plan on doing commercial fishing then the 1800 is recommended. If you are only fishing for recreation, you won't need a reel as big as the 1800. The 1200 will be just fine.
Love the 38 Special sound track. I've purchased from Melton a few times via fleabay, and a few times direct. Fast service and good prices. Where is this hybrid electric reel made? If it's Chinese, it's off my list. Current Penn ownership group is running the company into the ground with off shoring 95% of the production for cheap labor. IMO, Penn has lost their way.
Hi @gungadinn. Unfortunately, Penn has not given us all that much information regarding this electric reel. They will be releasing more info when the reel comes available in September.
@@MeltonInternationalTackle I presently have 2 Hooker 24 volt electric reels, a 50 and a 80. There are times when fishing on someone else's boat, I can't use the reels. (well unless I want to fish a 13 pound reel manually) Interested in the lithium battery version, provided the warranty is good and the battery isn't crazy expensive. Thanks for providing the info that you have.
Where to find spare handle ??
Hello. You can find replacement Shimano handles here on our website: www.meltontackle.com/shimano-official-t-bar-handle-replacement-kit-for-talica-and-speedmaster.html
@@MeltonInternationalTackle it's out of stock ?
But is it strong enough for deep dropping for swords?
Yes.
that be cool if they had a cadence assist option......as you reel the motor activates and turns on ...making it easier to reel...
Any advantages/disadvantages of using something like a large Owner ST-66 treble hook at the bottom instead?
Hi @random1883. With a large treble hook, you would run into the problem of having the fish stay hooked when you're reeling it in. A large treble hook tend to not get a good hold inside the fish mouth.
The 200's and 220"s are absolute wahoo slaying machines! Thank you Nomad for making such an incredible lure! Caught 12 wahoo that year on a ten day out of San Diego, great memories!
Good produc
Fantastic
When is this going to be available
@amritsingh Penn will be making these reels available some time in September. You can pre-order one now on our webiste. www.meltontackle.com/penn-fathom-electric-reel-kits.html
About time !!! You get on here !!
What size are those assist hooks?
@waltn3202 Mustad J-Assist 2 Heavy Duty Assist Hooks Size 6/0 was used as seen in the video. We suggest using Mustad J-Assist 1 or 2 Heavy Duty Assist Hooks Size 6/0 or 7/0 for Rip Roller jigs weighing between 300-500g. You can find those J-Assist Hooks here: www.meltontackle.com/mustad-j-assist-1-heavy-duty-assist-hooks.html www.meltontackle.com/mustad-j-assist-1-heavy-duty-assist-hooks-1.html
thanks for making this video, quick and simple tips, I agree with crimpping instead of the crazy chain knot, so.e of this guys are trying to brainwash us, ohhh you need this knot to catch big fish
Let it go! İt's an endangered species.
I like it and get great results with it, it has two draw backs: it knots easily and has no give, but it's benefits are immense: thinner diameter for farther casting and the ability to fit more line on your reel and better strength and longevity than monofilament, it's not just better strength, it's incredibly strong
Do you catch fish running these naked or rigged with ballyhoo or something? Thanks
Can you use it as a long distance casting reel ?
I heard from somebody that works there. The only thing that changed was LED screen and the color nothing else.
Because they all get an unlimited supply for free 😱 Fact!
Tiagra are hands down the best trolling reels I’ve owned.
😮😮😮😮😮😮
No left handed 500 😢
So, why do all the pros use it?
Will it gun backwards
Amazing Reels....BUT ! this company have "cero" customer service after purchase, I do have 3 old LP reels with bad motors, they wont sell me a new motor, they told me they do not sell any spare parts from old models because they want customers to buy the new reel models...... so be aware of this before you buy..... Reply
I want to buy some power handles do you know where I can order them
They got some on their website
How do you change from Japanese display to English?
What are the show specials? I might make the drive down from San Jose. 😊
A little late to the conversation, but try to remember there are quite a few brands of "Braid" on the market these days. However, there are much fewer "manufacturers" of Braid out there. So many times people make comment about this brand or that brand, you have to remember it might be a different label, or colour, but it could well be made in the exact same factory......
see you guys there!!
I need that off shore 130 lb
We do not have any specific specs for this new Beastmaster 9000B. When we do we will gladly pass them on. These reels are the same as the Japanese versions, except in English. They do offer a BM6000 in Japan. I have no idea what is the same across the 6000/9000 if anything.
Well…did you get ‘em? Video cuts off.
“What are specs for the upgraded gigamax motor? Is it the same as the Japanese MD’s? The MD 6000 is similar in size of the US 9000, yet weighs 2.4 more lbs and has less line capacity, because the MD motor is 40 percent larger and stronger.
Thank you for your comment. All the infos are in the description: www.meltontackle.com/shimano-beastmaster-b-9000-electric-reel.html
Thank you Tracy for posting this video. You mentioned the new Beastmaster has an upgraded motor and drag system, do you have the specs for that? And is it comparable to the Japanese Beastmaster MD 6000/12000” Thanks

Hello. For the 50A, can you advise if this reel is taller than the 30WLRSA? How does the 50A handle braid lay / lap compared to the 30WLRSA? What is the better reel for standup fishing for tuna - 50A or 30WLRSA and why? Cameron
Wow, those look nice!!!
