Loved this, I got the book at my school's book club and bought the DVD when it came out. Thanks to this, I have a large collection of samplers. What happened to Ian Stevens who played David?
no readin till midnight......... 12:01 ............ Starts reading 🤣
I thought this was in two parts when I saw it back in nineteen canteen? Was it maybe repeated after 1982 and shown in two parts? A great little play from a time when the BBC was good.
I say it then and I say it now, The British create the best ghost stories in books and film
i agreed to many american ghost and haunted house 🏠 stuff on CZcams and amazon prime
Why does the sound keep cutting off No matter how many times I watched this I don't remember it ever doing that before Videos sounds today keep cutting off today and I don't remember having problems like that on youtube for the 21 years I've been using youtube when it first began until now And I'm sick of it Im thinking of refusing to watch videos that have sound problems in future
The teacher from that advert, “I was right about that saddle”! 🤣 This is ace thanks for uploading 😁👍👊😎
Yellow pages lol
thanks remember watching this in the 80s, The Watch house was another good one:czcams.com/video/uZuBKEk_z-k/video.html
Great 👍 to see this again a girl called jean in my year was in it and simon orme the year below
A couple of pupils from our school at the time wood green high was in this
Wow. I remember watching the original series as an 8 yr old (first series), and then consequently getting the books to read. Although they were a bit spooky, both the books and the tv series were a delight. I'm so enjoying this trip down memory lane. The original series is on yt, but unfortunately, it is nowhere near this quality - just about watchable though. Edit: This was from 2009!? I thought there were more from the 1980s.
Nice to hear a Midlands accent - quite a rare thing even now (PB an exception)
Yes they came to our school after people to be in it wood green high
Excellent stuff, thank you! One question, why did Abigail take her ring off on the bridge anyway, before accidentally dropping it?
O WOW! so so great!
Thank you for uploading this. I love the series of both Chimneys and the Children.
I hate this version I prefer The BBC Children of green knowe it much better I love character Toby, Alexandra and Lynette in the BBC version
I saw this as a young boy. I enjoyed the story, but it also didn't hurt that you can see through her nightgown when she asks her parents about the TV program.
I remember this great film it scared me as a child lol thanks for uploading
Watched before read the book by Edward chitham is a good drama
Thank you for sharing. This is excellent viewing 🙏
Thank you for putting this on CZcams I remember watching this I was 7 at the time my sister had the book in hardback and I did in paperback this spooked me then but love all spooky things thanks to this show 40 years old but still a classic wish they would show this on tv again 80s shows were the best
I could never work out if Granny or the maid HAD seen David (the dad) by the way they looked (specially the maid) when Tolly mentioned ghosts. It was as if they knew something but didn’t want to say.
Vaguely remember this. I do remember my sister having the book and I can remember the picture on the front cover.
Have you noticed today's kids series focus on domestic situations and not fantasy or adventure anymore?
Albert Pike's letter of 1871 previewing three world wars: The First World War must be brought about in order to permit the Illuminati to overthrow the power of the Czars in Russia and of making that country a fortress of atheistic Communism. The divergences caused by the “agentur” (agents) of the Illuminati between the British and Germanic Empires will be used to foment this war. At the end of the war, Communism will be built and used in order to destroy the other governments and in order to weaken the religions. The Second World War must be fomented by taking advantage of the differences between the Fascists and the political Zionists. This war must be brought about so that Nazism is destroyed and that the political Zionism be strong enough to institute a sovereign state of Israel in Palestine. During the Second World War, International Communism must become strong enough in order to balance Christendom, which would be then restrained and held in check until the time when we would need it for the final social cataclysm." The Third World War must be fomented by taking advantage of the differences caused by the “agentur” of the “Illuminati” between the political Zionists and the leaders of Islamic World. The war must be conducted in such a way that Islam and political Zionism mutually destroy each other. Meanwhile the other nations, once more divided on this issue will be constrained to fight to the point of complete physical, moral, spiritual and economical exhaustion… We shall unleash the Nihilists and the atheists, and we shall provoke a formidable social cataclysm which in all its horror will show clearly to the nations the effect of absolute atheism, origin of savagery and of the most bloody turmoil. Then everywhere, the citizens, obliged to defend themselves against the world minority of revolutionaries, will exterminate those destroyers of civilization, and the multitude, disillusioned with Christianity, whose deistic spirits will from that moment be without compass or direction, anxious for an ideal, but without knowing where to render its adoration, will receive the true light through the universal manifestation of the pure doctrine of Lucifer, brought finally out in the public view. This manifestation will result from the general reactionary movement which will follow the destruction of Christianity and atheism, both conquered and exterminated at the same time.”
Thoroughly enjoyed! Classic. Anyone able to pinpoint this accent?
Black Country /Dudley
Am so happy to discover this so many years later than everybody else !! The Brits are the best ! All the way out here in Pennsylvania-
Sefton helped Jacob to save Susan by sending him up the chimney and lighting the fire.
Watching in 2021: "Very loosely based on The Chimneys of Green Knowe". Tolly appears to have amnesia and is unbelievably rude. Wish they hadn't bothered, really.
Yes, I just finished watching the original series on yt, and am struggling a little with the continuity.
What was really going on behind the scenes in relation to the first and second world wars?
Is the bird in it Sonya from Eastenders?
Judith Allchurch from Stourbridge. Left school in 83
This was filmed at mu old school Hillcrest, the church in Netherton was just round the corner , I lived in the area as a kid , I recognise some of the extras , my drama teacher wanted me to be 8n this as one of the school kids but I wasn’t quite old enough , glad people are still enjoying 😀
I remember it well they filmed some of it in the graveyard opposite where I live. Some of the local kids played the film crew up.
i really miss the eighties i was a teenager and left school in 1984
Why are there gaps in the sound track it spoils it
Dave Gahan and Martin Gore of Depeche Mode at 5:07.
The ghost of Abigail Parkes was a huge fan.
@@dazauto1400 Pity she couldn't get a New Life.
What a brilliant little film. And Judith was quite the cute one!
Judith, the first girl to break my heart, still not recovered 40 years later.
I can’t believe she was sitting right by that tv but she still made her mom get up and turn the channel over !
i mean, the Brits, there is just loads of this stuff, i have been collecting for years and there are still things i had no idea about. god i love you people. like alan garner said of the celts "no one is so vivid and terrifying in their imagination"
My thoughts exactly !!
@@Bob-67 I sure have!!!!!!!
Greetings from the West Midlands! :)
"Gid oway frum eer yaow!" 😒__👉 - That was nice, a gently spooky ghost story, very enjoyable! 👍
Cant believe this is in my local area !! Very rare to see black country dialect in film.
Me too. Where are you ? 🙋🏼♀️🙋🏼♀️

So sad to hear of Ian Stevens' passing in 1992.
He was my best friend at school and I'm in 2 scenes on this as I spent a day "on the set" round Russell's Hall estate and Dudley Zoo Market
I vaguely remember this. Watching it now it seems so dark so much of the time. I suppose the film crew used a lot of natural light rather than studio lighting.
At 36.00 was that bike an actual Raleigh Chopper?
I also remember this from the 80s when I was at school. Scared the living daylights out of me.
Watched this last night, enjoyed it. I was of a similar age then and it reminded me of a simpler time. Well, before the miner's strike kicked in and my town went mad for a while!!
Oooh GIS 💗 miss them and art Bell
Excellent watch for Xmas Eve, thanks so much for puttting up.
Love the Brum accent, haha!
That's nice for yiaow.
It’s not brum accent. It’s a Black Country accent
@@xxub40xx8 Thanks. Close enough, I guess.
Black country 😁
Love it it soo good 🌈👎🏼
those kids were pretty bad actors.
@Captain Haddock I wholeheartedly agree about Love Island but in same breath the acting is still not great.
