She said her birthday had just past here, its not uncommon to have a period where you have to catch yourself from still saying your previous age when your new age is still very fresh. If she had messed up on a rehersed "lie" they would have likely just cut it and reshot another take since this was footage that they shot themselves as hidden footage on their debut CD. Realistically if the group were in their late teens/early 20's when they came our there wouldn't have been a need for them to lie about that since that would have been the more ideal age for a female group at that time, especially with DC's more grown up look and sound. TLC debuted in their early 20's so did SWV, Jade, etc.. EnVogue was late 20's when they debuted. Being teenagers only put them at a handicap to have a harder time being taken serious and to be harshly judged for being "too grown" for their age. There was no benefit to them lying at that time.
