    Try this again with footage from an A7 II. Your starting point was pretty acceptable! :D

    Tim is awesome - so intelligent and down to earth. Disappointing that Tim talks about ignoring social media comments and the lack of value they can add, then you don't include the second song for fear of creating angst...

    Nice and quick. Tried the double mode, mix blend method trying to be all clever, and ended up with a lot more nodes as I was getting separation drift as it was pretty bad and had to compensate with all sorts of nonsense. Tried the quicker way you demonstrated and ended up at the exact same result in the end. For a bad moire like a slow zoom on a still of a fine-patterned shirt, just use this method first: if happy, move on with life. There's no wrong way as long as you get it fixed for QC so you have more time for the real painful stuff.

  • @brontidecollective9389

    another easy way to do this, without losing any quality, is the exact same way, but select mist, not blur

    Hi Nick, just came across your tutorial here. Is it possible for you to translate the Camera settings for a 1080p project rather than this 720p project? The effects you display here in the tutorial do not happen if I set the Camera exactly as you have it but for my 1080p composition. Any help would be appreciated.

    • @NickHillAnimation
      @NickHillAnimation Před 4 lety

      Hi - which effects are you referring to?

    • @AranFever
      @AranFever Před 4 lety

      @@NickHillAnimation The focal blur doesn't happen with my project because I'm working with a 1080p project. No one else has gotten this right but you. And I really want this proper focal blur to happen with mine...but your Camera settings don't work in 1080p.

    • @NickHillAnimation
      @NickHillAnimation Před 4 lety

      @@AranFever ah OK, in that case try increasing the camera's aperture - that will increase the effect of the blur so you should be able to see it. If you still can't, then play with the focal length: make the aperture really big first (try 100 or more, you can always dial it down later) and that should make it obvious what's in focus and what isn't.

    • @AranFever
      @AranFever Před 4 lety

      @@NickHillAnimation Okay thanks, I got it now. So, what worked for me is, Camera settings set to Focal Length = 28mm, Film Size = 36mm, Zoom = 526.81mm, Angle of View = 65.47°, Focal Distance = 299.86, Aperture = 5.29mm, F-stop = 5.3, no Lock to Zoom; then timeline Camera Options are Zoom = 1493.3 pixels, Focus Distance = 850 pixels, Aperture = 15 pixels.

  • @adrjork

    Don't agree: in your way you loose texture details. Much better creating a blending solution: blurring the selected-color node and color-blending it together with another B/W node. In this way you should solve the moire issue while maintaining the texture details.

      video please

    • @adrianocastaldini
      @adrianocastaldini Před 5 lety

      @@Moses_Kanneh It's very easy indeed, no need for video. Basically make a Layer node (now you have 2 parallel/overlapped nodes: the upper node is the bottom layer, the lower node is the upper layer), then set the Layer mixer to Color. Upper node saturation at 0 (so B/N), while on the lower node start blurring until the moire is disappeared. In this way you can blur the color only, maintaining the B/N details. It is advisable combining this method with Power Windows for working only on most affected areas.

    • @Moses_Kanneh
      @Moses_Kanneh Před 5 lety

      @@adrianocastaldini Thank you very much. I'm going to try this. I noticed Moiré in the some fabrics and jean pants while using a Sony a6500. I didn't think you could get rid of it. =^)

    • @adrjork
      @adrjork Před 5 lety

      @@Moses_Kanneh Actually it's not so easy to get rid of it: it depends on moire amount (sometime could be sufficient a bit of denoise, sometime it's impossible to fix it). Anyway I'm sorry: I was wrong about a step: upper node is NOT monochrome, but has to be corrected in its hue values (via Hue or via RGB Mixer) in order to fix also the "brightness" moire. Also, instead of simply blurring the lower node (the one for Color blending) it could be possible to substitute the moired area with a "median" solid color. So you'll have 2 layer nodes: upper one with hue correction (to fix brightness moire) and the lower one (blended as Color) with a median solid color (in place of the color moired area). Anyway it's not always possible to go for it. Here a good old guide for Photoshop that could inspire also Davinci users: photographylife.com/how-to-remove-moire-in-photoshop

    Just a quick tip for you. For us newbies, show and tell everything. I didn't know what the qualifier was. I had to go to another tut to figure it out. I thought it was a node, because when you said that a node appeared. I assume you did alt-s (I learned that from the other tut). So you should have gone "type alt-s to create another node and choose the qualifier. It's the icon that look a dropper located here." then circle/highlight/arrow
