Yas, although this piece of music isn't old enough to really be 'Celtic', it has probably only existed in this form since the 19th century or so, and when you consider how little Celtic language has survived in England, and how different English and Irish/Scots folk music is in terms of melodies etc, it seems a little strange to say this is 'Celtic' music, and more than a little like romanticisation :)
Mary Bateman agreed its irritating to have something which is English not recognised as such, considering how little our folk history has been preserved in comparison to the other countries
I totally agree! People think English folk is literally just stompy morris dancing (nothing wrong with morris in my book but it's not the prettiest), but English folk is so much more than that and some of it is really beautiful! Plus it's our heritage

I don't hear a song. No singing. I hear two tunes being played, the first on pennywhistle with bouzouki or cittern accompaniment, followed by a second with uillean pipes added. These are NOT jigs. They are reels. The first tune is the traditional Irish reel titled The Man of the House. The second reel is familiar, but the name doesn't come to me at the moment. Don't know who the musicians are either.
