Angular unconformity at Tedbury Quarry
170 million years of deposition is missing here!
The northward-dipping 340 million year old micritic Carboniferous limestone is overlain unconformably by the near-horizontal 170 million year old Jurassic oolitic limestone.
So over 170 million years, the micritic muds and organisms became lithified, fossilised and buried, then uplifted and eroded (probably a few times, and then, 170 million years ago, in the Jurassic, an island of Carboniferous limestone was eroded flat by the encroaching sea, upon which ooliths and organisms lived.
And then, they were all lithified and fossilised and buried and then everything was uplifted and eroded, giving us the rocks we see today!
Wow!
A great location!

What inspired this channel? I love it :D
My teacher-brain, the lack of related videos to help students, and my love of science 🌋🤓
quite clever, but it was all 80 yrs ago. Move on
Such a sad life you must lead…
I think the audience is not appreciative enough, the amount of hard work went to program and engineer that is insane.
Absolutely! The maths involved!
Amazing - I found myself thinking "hurry up" before the batteries run low and show us more! 👏👏
Beautiful

Rift valleys and fault block mountains are formed the same way, as the section of a fault block mountain that drops is called a graben, and the section of the fault block mountain that remains raised is called a horst.

@@DevilDenis1it's called capitalism private companies make massive profits over providing quality products Iraq Afghanistan basically all wars and battles after ww2 have provided inferior products and equipment to under paid military employees
what a waste of tax payers money once again
At least these young sailors are willing to fight and defend this country.
@@DevilDenis1I don't see any wars or attacks in the UK just your son and many others fighting to make the rich richer at the cost of taxpayers money and your son and his colleagues lives physical and mental health yeah you look at how many veterans are not being helped by the rich and the government but rely on donations and support again from the tax payers

The reworking of sediments by animals or plants, in this case, ginormous worms, about 120 million years ago, through offshore, shallow sea, possibly lagoonal sands and muds, now preserved as these amazing worm burrows! These were in slabs in a pavement!
