This video is the life of the paludarium since I built it. Paludariums offer the best of both worlds having a aquarium and land section creating an amazing ecosystem. hallo there! greatings from Denmark you don't have like a full list of specs and the stuff used like a word file or something I would like to build one for my ball python. really love your channel nice work :D
Pvc boards arenât sold anywhere near me. So Iâll have to use plywood then drylock it and oink installation board âŠshould be sufficient?
@thehorrorlife7190 what state are you in? Some regions don't sell it at major hardware stores. Bit some custom sign shops do. They know it as expanding pvc board
@@bradsbioactivebuilds Iâm in California and yeah, they donât sell it any longer. So instead of pvc board Iâm thinking plywood, drylock or and cover it with pink insulation foam board should work fine
@thehorrorlife7190 yeah that will work. Another great option would be is to use polygem 1618. It will hold up longer and stro ger than drylok in my opinion
Amazing content. Your growth should be much higher, wish you all the best
Where do you find the large sheets of PVC stuff ? TIA
@gorila1958 I get mine from home depo or lowest. What state are you in?
Hi I was wondering what classification of dart frogs they were and if there were also glass belly frogs and Mourning geckos that went in there. Also would like to know how they cohabited and if there were any problems as Iâve been looking to do the exact same as youâve done before I stumbled upon you video securing my idea đđ€ please and thank you đ
@@chloewallbridge6056 true sips, and I ended up re-homing the mourning geckos bc they started to take over. It's definitely a fun build to do
@@bradsbioactivebuilds thank you for replying I would love to have a go at this I have one more question sorry with the overflow holes how high/ low did you create them compared to drainage layer
@chloewallbridge6056 for the water over flow hole?
@chloewallbridge6056 and the land water overflow was as low as I could make it with the bulkhead outside diameter and nut could still fit with a half inch gap from the bottom.
Insane builds absolutely stunning work â€

Why not leave live insects in your reptilesâ enclosures and allow them to catch them more naturally? Relationship building? Not saying from outside, of course.
@nelsojr1423 great question, I do let a few insects free roam for some natural hunting and enrichment depending on the animal. But a good way to socialize is to tongs feed.
@@bradsbioactivebuilds thank you for answering my question. Makes complete sense. Much appreciated.
This was such an awesome build and a great video! Thank you so much! My husband and I are learning about building enclosures for our snakes and we appreciate everything you shared! <3

Just noticed youâre using the âLiteâ type. I ordered the regular⊠whatâs the difference, and will it be significant?
@Snake_Therapy I know both work but I'm not 100% sure the big difference other than the lite is lighter. I can checkbfornyou Tuesday and talk with my contact over at polygem
@@bradsbioactivebuilds awesome thank you! I started with just the one gal kit so Iâll play around with it and then maybe next time try the Lite
Finally got my zoopoxy in the mail! Thanks for sharing the process. And thanks for popping by yesterday!
For the record, tho, itâs $130 for 1 gallon of A and B. pretty pricey
@Snake_Therapy yeah, I always forget the smaller kit prices, I always get the 10 gallons lol

This is so amazing, although so complicated haha :S
@@LanaLeon thank you, they work great! And not as complicated as it looks, you got this!
Hi! Im not sure if you answered this already, but how much zoopoxy did you use for this build? I want to do something similar but with and 8'L 3'D 4' H enclosure, wondering how much id need. Also would probably not use as much foam and use it for ledges, and some accent.
@samwendt8007 it was my 1st time using zoopoxy. Looking back on it I wouldn't have carved out the background and would have used a silicone rock stamp for the detail (like I'm currently done on a 8x4x6 paludarium video coming soon). I used 2p gallons on this build but if your not doing as many ledges and thr front backside if the pocket door then I think 1p gallons would do the trick, if not less. Hope this helps
@bradsbioactivebuilds thank you so much for the advice! I am a little confused though, you said you used "2p" gallons, but I could probably get away with "1p" gallon. What do you mean with the "p" ? On there site I see they sell quart, 2 gallon, and 10 gallon.
@samwendt8007 Oops, my bad I ment 20 gallons and 10 gallons, not p. Hope this helps!
Dope! Iâm literally in this step i appreciate this video
@@dominiqueherron9406 awesome, it's one of the beat parts of a build, seeing it all come together!

@ifuknew-who3781 I got faith in you, start with something smaller, and work your way up đ€đŻđ€
@@bradsbioactivebuilds thank you I was not expecting a reply on a video from 10 months ago. I have always wanted to make my own enclosure but always felt intimidated by it.
@ifuknew-who3781 I try to answer all comments old or new lol. It's not to intimidating once you get started and there is no rush to finish. Most important part is to have fun with it.
@@bradsbioactivebuilds I have a boa that I want to build an enclosure for. Just not sure where to start. I also donât have any tools at all.
@ifuknew-who3781 a boa build would be a fun one to do. Check out this video to get an idea on the measurements of the box itself. Everything in this build isn't needed but may also give you some extra ideas czcams.com/video/kFIuR6ZNy6A/video.htmlsi=tsHw88DhzH6whSST
I live where these reptiles come from, but I've never seen one. I only learned about them in recent years. How much did you pay for them? Are they captive-bred or wild-caught?
That's awesome you like there, a lot of cool animals in your backyard. This one is Captive bred
Do you do any kind of further sealing on the fake rock besides the drylok/quikrete?
Nope, no need to, I could have also used acrylic paint over the zoopoxy itself. The zoopoxybis an all in 1 hardscape media and sealer
What kind of glass and whatâs the thickness you use for the sliding doors?
I use tempered glass woth polished edges. It 1/4 inch thick
@@bradsbioactivebuilds thank you! đŻ

Thank you. Iâve been really into paludariums. Been too afraid to try it until watching your videos and I finally took the plunge. Iâm practicing on a 10 gallon just to make my mistakes now and just improve.
@cudasfishkeeping5435 that's a great plan. Start small to learn the fundamentals then go as big as you want. I'm glad my videos helped you take the plunge into building your own. Any questions feel free to ask. Most important have fun with it!
10/10 video and thanks for introducing an amazing species that makes me want to build a paladarium. At $3000 I dpubt I could ever justify one of these as a pet lol.
@jordanwilde9226 thank you, it was definitely a fun build to put together. I hope you build a paludarium, you will enjoy it!
do you have any videos making a water feature with a glass front view for fish meant to go with a large lizard? trying to get ideas for diy 8 ft 4ft 7 ft puldirium with 50 gallons of water on one side
@dailydistraction3793 not yet, but I am actually in the process of building an 8x4x6 paludarium with roughly 300 gallons of water. I'm about 2 videos away from that and just started the aquatic section lastnight. Stay timed to the Ultimate Paludarium series. I have the 1st 3 parts in a playlist now đ€đŻđ€.
I can build this for my savannah monitor, will I have to upgrade it when he gets bigger
@michaelmcguire19 yeah, for a savannahs you should go bigger than this.
How long do you run the fans throughout the day?
@@JaMarisArchive it really depends on the species of animal. But I run these 4x a day for about an hour each time.
How much was the total amount of money for that
@LastChancce under $500 for what you see in this video. The hardscape build video was probably another 5 or so
@@bradsbioactivebuilds thank you it helps
Do you have an estimate for How much this cost you? Just supplies and materials for the tank not the stand .
@daytonhunt2406 under $500 for sure. I have done estimated breakdowns in some of the other comments but this was a build I did a few builds ago so I forgot lol
How much polygem zoopoxy did you use for this build and what kind of branches did you use? It looks great!
@frankharris6019 thanx. I'm not sure how much zoopoxy I used cuz I had a 10 gallon kit. But if I had to guess I would say I could have ordered the 2 gallon kit for this build and have some left over. Branches I got from glassboxtropicals.com/ it is the ghost wood. Hope this helps
Is it useless to give isopods and springtails in paludarium with water? I want it too but guy told me they will drawn..how are they doing?
@patogecler7345 they mainly stay on the land and the ones that go into the water will be a quick snack for the earless.
Nice setup but I do have concerns about that earless monitor since itâs a heavily wild-caught species that has been successfully bred only recently.

How do you maintain this enclosure other than drain water every so often. Do you remove both substrate and plants to deep clean the enclosure if the reptile uses the bathroom in its enclosure, or would the pests that you put in take away extra routines that youd have to be done to the enclosure so theirs no mess or smell?
@Gecko_Kaiju great questions. Since this is still a relatively new setup, maintenance is still being dialed in. But it does have a removable filter I can clean. 50% water change and vacuum. Isopods and springtails clean up land area. I'll throw some snails and shrimp in too to clean and a snack
Do you own your house and have planned youâre never moving Or is there some secret trick to hauling these beasts?
@codyak488 Great question, no plans on moving anytime soon, and the bank owns my house đ€Ł I did buildbit so I could cut it into 3rds and build it back together (in theory đŹ). That's a bit worse case I'll have to destroy this one and the current 8x4x6 paludarium im working on. The other lastger enclosure will fit through the door frame.
