A short video of a visit to a classroom in Kperisi and a discussion with the teacher on how students share textbooks and have to copy them by hand. They literally take a pencil and paper and write out all the information in the text book. Mostly the text book is borrowed from someone who is fortunate enough to have been able to purchase a photocopied copy of a textbook. Makes you realize how fo...

Every part of the Shea Nut is put to use. After the women of Kperisi use traditional methods to hand process shea nuts into Baraka Shea Butter they are left with a residue. It is carefully collected, shaped into balls and dried. Then it is used as a cooking fuel. The ingenuity and resourcefulness is amazing!

Making Shea Butter - some traditional steps
zhlédnutí 3,2KPřed 7 lety
Women of Kperisi making shea butter (not Baraka Shea Butter). We thought this would be interesting. It shows how hard the women work to make Shea Butter. They are whipping the butter by hand to get the butter fats to coagulate into shea butter. It then has water added and is cooked over a fire to further separate the shea butter from the wastes. The video ends with showing how the shea nuts are...

Great job Wayne
Nice
Wonderful work Baraka...supporting women and enabling them to provide for their families in a dignified way. BumbleBee Soapworks only uses Baraka Shea butter because we support women so they can support their families. These baskets are great!
Hi Carol. Thank you so much. My apologies for the slow response - I have been in a very 'challenged' internet area for a couple of weeks. The impact we have is only possible because of people like you and businesses like BumbleBee Soapworks. You and your customers make this possible. You might enjoy this story that just published today ghananewsagency.org/features/baraka-shea-butter-creates-income-opportunities-for-upper-west-women-158242
I love the upload and I want to say that I haven't been to the gym since high school and the last time I squatted I squatted 390Lbs and I don't know how you guys felt after catching those Amberjacks but I would love to try it
How can I get a hold of you I would like 1200 pounds of white fish for smoking
Where U guys by ship reck ? We have a cabin on delorand
Do you sell white fish would like to buy some
Hi. Sorry about the slow response. The net is set out from the Government Dock. My father used to have a fish camp up at the north end, on the East Side of the lake, up past East Bay - just NE from Big Island
Keep up the community outreach. This is one of our goals to help students in the U.S. develop business skills as well.
Legal if you have a license, which my father does
Is this legal or just poaching ?
Legal lol.You get a license for net fishing and its only permitted on certain lakes unless you are status I believe
Hi Wayne; I am looking for a plan or a kit to build the jig that you use to walk the net under the ice. Found one a while back but lost the reference. Or if need be a source where you would buy the jig. Great video and nice to see your Dad active in the later years!
+Wayne Dunn Well, I googled around for about an hour and did not find anything, wrong search term or something. Thanks very much!
Is there any reason you don't use an auger?
This video was posted 4 years ago. My father will be 87 in April - and was fishing nets this past December. Below is original description from when the video was posted This video shows my 83 year old father net fishing through the ice on Delaronde Lake, near Big River in North-Central Saskatchewan. The video is a series of clips that were taken over a 3-4 year period. My father, who has lived a mile from this 32 mile long lake all his life, sets nets every winter and donates the proceeds from all the fish that he sells to the Big River Recreation Centre. What fish he doesn't sell he gives away to others in the community.
Way cool.
Mostly it is. Sometimes in the fall you go out in smaller vehicles (Quads/Snowmachines) before it is thick enough for a vehicle
Hi. If it isn't too windy or stormy you can follow the jigger as it goes out (requires two people). It is red so it shows up through the ice if there isn't snow. It also goes straight (or supposed to) and you know how much line has gone out. Sometimes you have to make a few holes to find it. An aluminum shovel is like a mirror so if you make a hole and can't find the jigger you can put the shovel down and turn it slowly and look for the red of the jigger. If all goes well you find it. If not...
enough to drive a car on it ?
how do you know where the jigger is ? I definitely use GPS or some sort of unless there is another way
hellerase there's a knocker on the back of the jigger every time you pull back on the draw line , it makes a knocking sound , take two steps back from there and make your hole !! It's more difficult when it's thicker it's good to have a guy to follow it if it's windy as well!
Some ppl even use avanlance beacons to scope out the jigger
Good for your Dad!! What size mesh is the net?
kool coming from lutsel ke n w t..
I just got my 1st gill nets, i'm around the hudson bay area, not sure which lakes and rivers i'm allowed to net but will look into it when I get them rigged up. I am excited to learn this skill and start gaining experience.
How thick do you think the ice is?
Thats awsome to see a man your fathers age out their givener and helping out the community, I can see he's a great guy and your a great kid to be by his side. I subbed, looking forward to more video, check out my page and subb back if you like it. Nice job again.
