Great way for a cervical decompression, do you remove the spinous processes as well?

I had disectomy and laminectomy bilateral. I begged for someone to help me for months. I have had back issues for decades but never had surgery. They kept saying I didn’t NEED it. Well I got to the point where I had a perpetual butt cramp. It then went onto my leg, calf….even under the foot. First thing in the morning I cried for an hour when getting up. I had kids to get off to school so I had to get them all out the door. I threw up so many times and always felt like I was going to pass out. I can’t even begin to describe this pain other than to tell you I’d prefer to give birth drug free every day than to ever go through this back pain again. Worst. Pain. Ever. My gynecologist (of all people) was the one to finally get me real help. I asked him to look and tell me if he thought my butt cheek was smaller on one side than the other because I felt like it was shrinking. Within 2wk of that gyno apt I had surgery. (They did a never block first to help diagnose because my MRI wasn’t particularly alarming). After the shot I had zero pain. Like it was there one minute gone the next. That told them it was the nerve being pinched. I’m about 6mo out of surgery. I still have some lil twinges but that surgery was life changing. I would do it again everyday and twice on Sunday. I had a car wreck in 2003 which started my issues. Since surgery we also found out I was severely deficient of vitamin B-12 which was causing an iron deficiency. I have to take shots for vitamin-b which is helping my iron…and also strengthens the myon sheath for my nerves. I pray I don’t have any more issues but I’m so grateful for surgeons.

Most of you just need prolotherapy and regenerative medicine. The severe diagnosis need surgery but anyone normalising pain for months or years after surgery needs to be questioned.

I yesterday got my surgery (microdisectomy) done & now feeling much better & can now walk with little support. I will be able to walk properly in few days... In my case all my nerves were pressed by herniated disc just leaving 1mm space to canal. Person with spinal issues should always do daily exercises as suggested by physiotherapist

I had this done on Thursday. A micro discectomy. It’s now Saturday. I am on the couch, moaning in pain, rocking back-and-forth. Can’t find a comfortable position. My butt is killing me and my hamstrings are now very badly. And the obvious lower back pain from the surgery. I’m on very low-dose oxy, and cyclobenzaprine.

After a failed laminectomy, I was left with trapped nerves in the fusion of the L5 S1 region of my spine. This left me in great pain and a decreased quality of life. I will be contacting this spinal specialist to discover what options I have. Warning: Before making any decisions about spinal surgeries, I strongly suggest you look into all of the available options. Surgeries are a last resort.
