Taper Turning by Tailstock Setover Method
zhlédnutí 75KPřed 6 lety
Taper Turning can be done in Lathe by tailstock setover method, in which the tailstock is moved from its middle position to one side of the bed, making the work-piece tilted wrt the lathe axis and feed. Thus, when the tool moves, it cut the workpiece at an angle to its axis, creating a taper. The same has been animated using three-dimensional (3D) CAD models in SolidWorks. The model also shows ...
Thread Cutting in Lathe - Norton Geartrain Explained
zhlédnutí 30KPřed 7 lety
This 3D animation in SolidWorks shows how thread cutting is done in a lathe, and how the mechanism inside the headstock take part to make it possible. The tumbler mechanism and Norton mechanism has been expalined in detail. Also, how the pitch of the job or workpiece being machined is related to lead screw speed and spindle speed, and the calculations for the same have been shown. Video Credits...
Apron Mechanism : Power Feed in Lathes Explained
zhlédnutí 131KPřed 7 lety
This video explains the apron mechanism mounted over the carriage in a lathe machine. This mechanism is involved in the feed and cross-feed motion in a lathe. We also describe how power feed or automatic feed works, through simulations and animation of a 3 dimensional model in SolidWorks 2015.
Cutting Forces and Merchant Circle Diagram
zhlédnutí 125KPřed 7 lety
Metal Cutting process involves a number of forces in the cutting zone that makes the removal of excesss material from the workpiece possible. The Merchant Circle Diagram provides a way to relate these forces in a graphical way. Relations between these forces can be found out through analytical formulas as well. This 3 minute video explains the basis of each force, like cutting force, feed force...
ASA System of Tool Nomenclature - Explained in 2 minutes
zhlédnutí 68KPřed 7 lety
The ASA (American Standards Association) system of tool nomenclature has been explained in this video using a 3 Dimensional SolidWorks Model of a single-point cutting tool animated using various views and cut sections. The three-plane system has been explained and then the six angles are shown clearly. Following this, the conversion fomula in matrix form between ORS and ASA has been shown. For ...
Mechanism of Metal Cutting - Explained
zhlédnutí 17KPřed 7 lety
Metal cutting is the removal of unwanted metal from the workpiece (blank) to get a finished surface or a desired product. The unwanted material flows over the Tool's Rake Face and is called Chip after being cut. The popular theories in this field are Ernst Merchant's Theory and Piispannen's Card Analogy. According to Ernst Merchant's theory, the metal fails first by plastic deformation when the...
Taper Turning Attachment - Explained
zhlédnutí 102KPřed 7 lety
The Taper Turning Attachment is a specialized equipment for turning tapers on a lathe. It is very similar to copying a profile onto the job. This video shows the various parts of a taper-turning attachment, and how it works, using animation of 3D CAD models for explanation of the concept. The SolidWorks models will show step by step, how to install and use the attachment. The various parts incl...
Drill Bits - Parts and their functions

Drilling is a machining operation to make holes in a workpiece. Drill bit is the specialized cutting tool for this job. Twist Drill bits come in various sizes, types, and materials. And they have a complex geometry. There are 3 main parts: Shank, Body and Drill point. The geometry of the drill point is further defined by various angles, which have described in detail using a 3D model available ...

Well done! This was obviously time consuming to put together. Thank you!
Anyone in 2024 🙃
2024??
Very good explanation and animation
So how do you chuck the workpiece to turn it at a constant angle to the headstock? Some CV coupler at the head stock?
Not gonna watch this video because the thumbnail shows a twist drill.
i have question. does the clearence for the plunger have to be very small for their to be sufficient pressure? or is there a sort of piston ring
Very good 👍

Thank you for the help, Need access for the drive.
Amazing..thankyou brother
Hi. The attachment looks wonderful, any chance we could purchase the same from you ?
thanks a lot
really great video. thanx a lot. please post more videos like this
broo again masterpiece
bro you're pro humbly thanking you!!!!
Sir taper turning me depth of cut kis se dete h cross slide se ya compound slide se reply must
short and simple
That was brilliant thank you
Very good video
samaj kuch nahi aya par beat jhaakas thi
Good work 👍👍
Very good information sir
Good video. Thanks
Great job,Bro. Thank you.
Very neat explanation. Love it. Keep it up.
Your taper turning attachment works on a similar principle to one on my Harrison lathe. One problem I have found when cutting a taper towards the chuck is with the backlash, which is usually taken up when setting the tool read to cut. As the cross slide is pushed from the back, backlash is taken up from the back instead of the front. So a short parallel is cut while the backlash is taken up and the taper turning starts to work. To rectify this I always cut from the chuck end to the back. This way the cross slide is pulled to the back and the backlash can be taken up as usual before the cut starts.
hey thanks a ton. also would it be possible to get these 3d models?
3.5 drill

Thanks for this amazing information ❣
You are so welcome!
Great explanation!
Glad it was helpful!
thanks for this.
No worries!
What book should we refer
man
Good explanation 👍🏻👍🏻
Glad you liked it!
Could you tell me what function is tailstock
Tailstock is used to support the end of the workpiece, and is primarily required in case of a long workpiece. In this particular application, tailstock is required to hold the workpiece inclined to the lathe axis.
I like his safety boots.
Haha !! We took this video when the workshop was closed down, so it was not a major safety issue at the time. But yes, that's an oversight.
I don't think the animation is possible as the work piece would have to change angle continually while being held in the Chuck of the lathe. Clear to me he's never used a lathe before
Awesome video! Thank you!
Glad you liked it!
Well explained i really learned peaceful .
Glad it helped!
can someone pls tell me what's the main meaning of point? 😭 I need it right now 😭😭
