Are the nuts galvanized?
How about setting up a transit between the 2 corner posts and sighting in on one of them, then rotate the transit 180 degrees and looking through the transit to see how far off you are from the opposite post. Move the transit in the appropriate direction and repeat till they both line up with each other after rotating 180 degrees. Getting ready to build a fence with 600' spans and thinking of different ways it can be done...
Efficient job boys. Crack on
Great education content and real-world tips! Love the innovations for your gear and set-up to maximise efficiency. but guys, those shirts!!! horrendous!
Glad you enjoy! Our shirts are from Trademutt, they're designed to raise awareness and money for mental health, each shirt you buy contributes to free counselling services from TIACS. That's why we love them!
Nice little video, I like the gate idea. a bolt hanging off a chain would be a good temporary lock device for the gate.......Well done........😊
Looks good! I’d love to see a how to video on how to swing a face mounted gate with the fall of the ground and what style hinges and why. I find it hard to anticipate the arc the gate will swing on when it’s not level. Thanks guys appreciate the videos
What happens when you hit sheet rock a foot deep when hammering in the stardroppers?
Hopefully it'll punch through or you can move the post slightly, if not it might involve cutting the post a bit shorter or becoming creative!
How do you get the posts to the same level? Dies the hammer have a stopper?
Eyesight and practice for the most part!
Great Utube training clip. We love promoting your channel with our youngsters that we train across Australia. It helps imbed the knowledge that we have or are imparting when training the fencing units; AHCINF206 - Install, maintain and repair farm fencing and AHCINF307 - Plan and construct conventional fencing VET Centre (Qld)
Glad to hear it! Is there anything else you'd like to see us do a CZcams video on?
About to embark on a series of exclusion fences at Widgee where we are building the new Agricultural and Job Readiness Training Centre. Will be going without the apron for a few reasons.
Great stuff
Instead of twitching the netting pretension get a handful of dog clips and retrieve them as you staple off.
Imagine a fencer 50 years ago watching how easy it is now days! Absolutely amazing stuff, i have never understood why kore people havent gotten on board with the trailers around where i live
Thanks for the compliment. We are seeing increasing demand for trailer set ups, so you may be seeing more in your area soon.
@@WaltersFencing I've asked multiple fencers why they don't use them and they all say they are too dear, even though I'm sure they'd easily pay for themselves in 6 months or so, maybe you should do a video on how far you. Can do per day etc people might come around then
Dave off filming his Tik Toks while James does all the work 😂
That's about how it goes! 🤣
Such an upgrade over the previous model 👌
Cheers! 🍻
Intro sequence lowkey embarrasing for you 💀
Go annoy Don instead, we'll be having words with your father 🤣
Really love your guys channel man. Keep up the great work👍Greetings from the Pacific Northwest USA in Tacoma Washington

What are the posts on the wire?
Weston Droppers
Could I see more of the drill press you made? I want to replicate it!
Ewwwww Clancie 🤢🤮 (the purple looks good tho)
🤣
Jenny looks good
Whats the damage for that 650m. Need to redo my entire boundary sometime this year hate to think what my bill is going to be lol
Where can i find the set up on the black dropper set on rear trailer. how does it auto drop them them thats awsome
Hey Zac. We should have these available for sale on our Walters Fencing Website shop in the next week or two!
Good on ya boys I'd love to come work with you boys one day but right now I'm probably a bit to young, might see yous in the future though
Sound good Ty. Give us a call when you are ready.
Most innovative piece of kit you boys have put out yet!
Thank you!
Great video , than you . I work in the factory at Austral Wire Products . Would you like to see how the world's best wire fencing and other products are made ? I could take you on a tour
Hey guys, I enjoy your videos 👍. One question: do you put electricity on the bands? Otherwise I would think that the cattle will just walk through? Thanks
Hey, yep they're electrified!
@@WaltersFencing Thank you. Thanks for making these videos 👍
How tall is that tube post?
He puts it at the top because there is nothing to fall on it. and he saves money.
Neat work. How did you fasten the mesh to the cable?
Sorry for the late reply! We used the Airco clip gun and plenty of clips
Day Steve, innovative and thoughtful work. Appreciate the way you learn from previous fails and modify accordingly. Hope your business flourishes.
Great work boys.... what's the mesh you are using?
Sorry for the late reply, missed these comments! We're using 105cm Rabbit Netting
What happens if you can’t drive the post in fully
You'll have to either cut the post shorter and try again, or hope it's in deep enough and just leave the other posts adjacent to it slightly higher as well so it flows nicely. - Clancy
Don’t think they need to be Waratah Orange, I would prefer something more discreet!
Do you cut the top of the post off wear it's belled belled?
Not normally. The inside of the driver dolly is designed to form the top of the post inwards under hard driving conditions which means the cap actually sits on the post more easily. Normally the depth of the cap will cover the deformation of the top of the post which means there is no need to trim the tops.
@@WaltersFencingdoes this work with 3mm wall or only 4mm + ?
@@gunsandgear2689 We tend to only use 4mm-5mm or medium wall pipe, any less and we risk deformation with our driver
Are the strainers pointed?
No. We are using 150Nb (6") galvanised pipe, so it is hollow inside
@@WaltersFencing bit too stoney here for that, wooden strainers at 2.1 metres need a spike hole first to punch through the stones. I used to dig and set 2 sets of strainers and stays a day with a shovel and crowbar before ramming then in, took 1 1/2 hours for each one. One day I did 4 but not again shes hard yakka that many a day. www.nzsoils.org.nz/PageFiles/49/SoilPics/Large/Lismore%20Shallow%20Stony%20Silt%20Loam.jpg
Looking at completing a similar set up on the gatepost and brackets for rails. Love the set up, did you make that? If so, where’s the best place to get those posts?
A lot of major steel suppliers can source these posts, then we've weld on those brackets separately
Hi Steve, the Knipex nippers you use are they 280mm or 200mm long? Thanks Mate.
Hey Glenn 200mm for me every time. I find them lighter, more nimble to use and if I need to cut any thing bigger I use the cutters. Don't be shy about touching up the cutting edge periodically to keep them in top shape and cutting well. Cheers Steve
@@WaltersFencing brilliance Steve...many thanks for the reply.
What exact high tensile wire would you recommend to use in place of the helicoil wire if you had the choice?
I think the thicker wire through hole and winded around is better for the fence. The Thicker wire through post will last longer and be just as strong as a 2mm twist. Also can reuse the thick winded wire if repairing or relocating fence. Your way is better for the contractor tho as you say wink wink
Good video. But barbed wire should be phased out
Why would one phase out barbed wire? Keep in animals with a hope and a strongly-worded letter?
Do you guys use the notched knipex cobolts or the flat ones? Just checking as they are fairly pricey here. Also do you prefer the 200's or 250s?
Hey J M. My thoughts only...I prefer the notched for pull down (handles No.8 better) but probably flat for construction as you can cut any size wire in any part of the jaws (don't have to avoid the notch). I only use the 200mm, but again, only my preference. Cheers Steve
@@WaltersFencing Awesome thanks, it's a tough decision, might get the flat ones new then and see if I can score a notched one second hand as having something that can cut a lot of wire quickly will be handy for pull down as you say. I have those end nippers at 200 which are great for some tasks but a real pain to cut heavy wire with
what clip gun are u guys using?
Hi Luan. We are using a 1.8mm Air Operated Clip Gun from Marchant Engineering in Sydney
Rabbit netting?. What about the gate ways?.what did you do there?
Thanks for your interest. The netting is primarily for aesthetic reasons, in that it looks good on a house yard fence. It helps keep tennis and cricket balls in too, but we don't use it to keep rabbits out. The gates are standard 'off the shelf' with weld mesh infill. Cheers Steve
Interesting to see that you don’t use a strainer board on the netting. Are the top and bottom wire made a bit more heavy duty to allow attaching a strainer on them? Be interested in your thoughts. Cheers fellas.
Hi John. Thanks for commenting. The top and bottom of the Waratah rabbit netting, that we use, has 2 x 1.4mm wires that the netting pattern starts and stops on. This means that the only part of the netting you can pull without stretching the diamonds is the top and bottom wires. We don't strain the netting too tight, but just enough to take the belly (slack) out. Straining boards would work just as well, but are slower to attach and easier to overstrain. Cheers Steve
Do you guys tend to use the Longlife blue wire for most projects?
Longlife blue for the most part, but it also depends on what the customer wants
I like the simple method for getting the scallop, and a measure (story) stick rather than tape measure. Simple but accurate process. Well done.
Cheers 🙌
Looks like you’re having fun… and fencing well too!
If you're not having fun while you do it, you're not doing it right 🤣
Very helpful I'll be doing this by myself on an 80 acre property...really appreciate the details.
Glad to hear we could help ✌
