Be alert and react to other players being pulled out of position. Cover back to mark free players. Talk to each other

Covering back High work rate Deny forwards space and possesion Chase,hook, block, never give up Be strong and stand up to players running through. Get body in way, don't just stick out arms Keep feet moving to move body and shoulders to block Hands out wide to make yourself big and not give away frees

Passing: heads up, find someone in space, look backwards as well as forwards, a short pass backwards to an umarked player can often lead to easy scores Movement: plenty of movement off the ball to support the player in possesion, get in to space, loose your marker, make runs to receive pass, call out to them know you are free

Don't over commit to having too many defenders trying to block or win ball leaving forwards unmarked. Don't bunch up too much. Push out to cover unmarked forwards. Heads up, be aware, talk to each other. Sometimes half forwards can drop back to pick up loose players in midfield
