Just a few comments: I've always had a special affection for North Bay; Marin and Sonoma counties eventually became my favorite part of California. I've practiced martial arts for almost 60 years, and a close cousin of mine who passed several years ago practiced Tai chi almost exclusively in Marin county for about 50. For me there is something about the flavor of North Bay, especially its coast that evokes primordial Japan, which might be why this video resonates with me. Many years ago I read a book, "The Judoka" by Bill Norwood, from Sausalito. It's a parable of Judo as a way, a do, and yet another confluence for me of northern California and martial arts. Also many years ago, and more directly linked to the interests of this video, one of my karate sensei showed me a wakizashi that was nothing less than a work of art. The blade itself was forged in Japan in the 16th Century by a renowned swordsmith. It was a composite sword in that the tsuba and end cap were made in the 17th Century. Forgive my musings and I know they're all over the place. It was pleasant for me to view this video and brought up many martial arts and northern California memories.

I love Ron Campbell! He is a great friend and mentor of mine. I got to see him perform a version of this live a couple years back. We all need to learn these lessons.
