Seriously? 1. my rabbit would never sit there so quietly 2. Gently take her head while she violently kicks trying to get away 3.Ease the syringe into the corner of her mouth??😂😂..NOT!
Will definitely try this
My rabbit just jumps over my arm. She won't sit still for me to feed her. We have to restrain her.😢
Baby food work?
Mine won’t open up 😂
mine won’t either she moves her head away from it and then tries to bite me
Can you please make a video on how to describe a fracture on a radiograph
So helpful 😊
When you pull back the plunger that aggressively you actuall pull air in from the rear side of the plunger. That’s why you got an air bubble and not just a vacuum bubble
Just want to say thank you for this. Giving subcutaneous penicillin to my rabbit and I was having trouble. This really helped.
How do you know when this needs to be done?
Thank you . very helpful.
About to do this for my 2 year old beardie. He needs some nutrients after a cold front, he lost his appetite. Hopefully it goes this smoothly! 😭
Thank you Dr Berkowitz! You are the best of the best! Caring, Knowledgeable, Engaging. Lily
Ur rabbit deserves a nobel prize for being so sober and obedient...u should see mine ...such a wriggly jumping Jacky of a girl ...I hv learnt to make a burrito of her...yet then she tries biting the towel ..now I am gonna do that and then give medicines . She knows how much I love her but still behaves like a fathead.
What an awesome and informative lecture!! Love it!!
OMG so helpful and useful
Helpful demonstration and you guys are very gentle with your 🐇 😊
This worked when I tucked the towel over my bunny and then lifted her head to find where to put the syringe - thanks! ❤
Imagine trying to syringe feed a brown anole. I have him the best life possible since he was injured when I found him. I even went to the vet. RIP Shorty. 😢
Rings, clocks, long nails and nail varnish have no place in a clinic!!!!
That's the most skunk looking piggy I've ever seen.
My bunny is so super stressed out trying this. His heart is beating like mad and i feel like the stress is going to kill him. Any advice please?
Hi folks, nice job on your video. I am a (now-retired) veterinarian who did housecalls exclusively for herptiles the past 10 years and saw them in-hospital as much as possible in the years prior to that. As such, I taught countless clients how to give various injections of medications and fluids at home and it was always a ton of fun and rewarding to see a nervous first-timer quickly become a pro. I would usually have them practice with a small amount of saline while I was present. The one tip that I would suggest reinforcing (you did mention it briefly)-since punctured scales do not seal up nearly as quickly as mammalian skin and often times we were using minuscule amounts of liquids for the injection (less than 0.1mls was common), obviously any leakage from the injection site could be an issue. Therefore I stressed very hard that the client needed to twirl the syringe in a single direction as it was being removed which causes a plug of the subcutaneous tissue to help block the hole so the medication would not leak out. Additionally placing pressure on the injection site for 10-15 seconds or so also helps against leakage. Granted, not a huge deal when giving a large bolus of SQ fluids to a large python or crocodilian (although I still always twirled), but could be a very big deal when giving a 0.03ml IM injection into the bicep of a leopard gecko. Those are tiny amounts of fluid and what may look like just a little drop that leaked out might have been the entire dose in some cases. I know it seem like a lot of steps to remember but if all of my wonderful 80-something year old Floridian clients can do it, anyone can! Twirl twirl twirl!!!
Umm mine needs the jaws of life to open his mouth lol
Uhhhh
I think you are far from being gentle 🤔
These videos are greatly appreciated! Thank you for sharing!
You are so welcome! Thanks for watching.
This is a wonderful tutorial! Will be sharing with our adopters & fosters, this is a great resource! Thank you! 🐽💕
Awesome! Thank you!
My rabbit has not been eating and I am taking him to vet today, but just now I forced fed him successfully watching this video! I didn't have Syringe at home, but I had an empty hair dye bottle I never used and it worked perfectly!
Glad our video helped and hope your rabbit is doing well.
Thank you so much for this video! Accurate and quick to the point. I never gave my rabbits medication, and now I needed to give the younger one anti-inflammatory medication after his neutering. I was really worried I wouldn't be able to, but this video thought me how to and it was quick, easy and with no pain or agony whatsoever! Keep up with the great work! Sending bunny hops of happiness and kisses ❤❤
You are so welcome! Glad it was helpful.
So my vet told me my bun is really flighty, and she was a PAIN to examine. So she had issues doing that. But she got I done but also the rabbit stressed out a TON. But she decided I would be capable of administering topical and oral antibiotics. Along with cleaning antiseptic and other such things. I am having the hardest time doing this
This is something that can be challenging for some rabbits. Go slow and do your best.
I agree, what is the treatment this dog have gotten?
How do you make/obtain the syringe food for the guinea pig?
Your pet shop should have it. It's called Critical Care
I've syringe fed my dragon since mars and it's hard. So I was very happy to find this video! Thank you so much!! ❤❤
Glad it helped!
Thank you it helps
Glad we could help.
What size needle did you use? Thank you btw for this video very helpful.

I have guinea pig sick them no eating And making noise with tha teeth and to much water in his mouth what medicine recommend please some one help🙏
You should bring your Guinea Pig to the vet to get checked out.
She is amazing. She helped me so much when my cat passed away. Its a shame you discontinued the grief support.

Dr. Britton is the best vet I've ever used for my kind of odd pets. She has literally been a life-safer multiple times. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Thank you so much for the kind words. We agree that she is awesome!
THANK YOU!!
You're welcome! Glad we could help.
I wish people would post real videos up of rabbits that actually don't co operate. My boy is wild. I have to now attempt this. He just got neutered today. He's not eating and boy do I feel guilty.
Take it slow and remember to be patient. It's a new experience for him.
@NorthStar VETS yeh of course. He likes to hide his face in my arms when cutting his nails so he did that and took 1ml of critical care only. He's not eating. So I'm so scared he's going to become poorly because he's not letting me give him the syringes. Will have to try with 3 people. 1 holding.....1 holding his head and 1 to put the syringe. But I don't want to stress him out. How long usually after getting neutered do they begin to eat?
That is a complicated question to answer. If a rabbit isn't eating and pooping there is the possibility of him developing GI Stasis. If you haven't already done so, you should contact the veterinarian that performed the surgery.
@NorthStar VETS well today went a bit better. I managed his meds all day and got 12mls of food in him in 6 hours nothing more than that as he put up a gigantic fight with me this evening and he's gone through enough stress. He's more or less back to normal. Wanting to run around, humping away like always although not as much. He's pooing but it's small at the moment. And has began eating little. I hope hel get there. I just hope I wake up in the morning to normal poops then I know everything surely is fine. Because he has began biting me and scratching me when I try give him meds or critical care. Vet said if his poops go back to normal then stop distressing him. Otherwise I have to continue. My heart breaks for my poor boy. Its like he's so angry at me.
@@immasis Glad you feel things are going better. Just remember you are doing this to help him.
You are a hero for rabbit owners. I am such a softy for rabbits, especially the babies. Keep it going and great work.
Thank you very much! We appreciate the kind words.
I have a Flemish giant. She just had surgery and but her tongue in the process. It has been such a battle and now she bit her tongue off a couple of days after. I’m having such a hard time syringe feeding her.. she’s covered in blood and her tongue is swollen and a piece of it is missing. I’m so devastated. I’ve called around everywhere trying to get her into a rescue but nobody will take her. I don’t know what to do
Thanks - perfect advice, just what I was looking for. Mark
Glad it was helpful!
And he did a back flip and kicked me again
😂😂😂😂😂
unless you work with 17 pounds uncooperative furry beast ...
Great point!
Thank you soooo much!
