That copper plated ammo is crap, i had some made in prc. Managed to get a crate of hungarian made lacquered steel case, much more accurate and far less corrosive
@@Dani-hl3xu This stuff in particular is non corrosive and pretty damn accurate but the copper wash on it definitely leaves a lot behind in the rifle
@@LakesnWoodsOutdoors may i ask what brand that ammo is and what accuracy you get from it? My sks gets me 4 moa
@@Dani-hl3xu Depends if you’re in Canada or USA, it’s Norinco Red Box ammunition, I haven’t actually measured my groupings with it but I would definitely say it’s around 3moa, ran it through both my SKS and Type 81, a lot better accuracy out of the type 81 of course.
@@LakesnWoodsOutdoors thanks. Since the us banned russian ammo it became cheaper here in Germany, so i got some brass case norma for 7 bucks a box along with some surplus stuff, unfortunately my sks doesn’t seem to be the most accurate out there. I‘ll get an ak some day and try it in that i guess.
@@Dani-hl3xu Your rifling could simply be deteriorating which can cause the inaccuracy, I feel like Norma should be a an accurate cartridge but then again basically all SKS rifles are 3-4moa average

@@LakesnWoodsOutdoors I am curious about various forms of gun ownership and have a question about the recent changes in Canadian gun ownership laws. Can I buy an AR-15 or other types of guns?
@@mr.potatoch2922There are many firearms you can purchase in Canada, unfortunately the AR-15 is now considered prohibited as of 2020, if you’re looking to purchase a semi-auto 5.56/.223 Wylde rifle you are more likely going to be buying a non-restricted AR-180 platform rifle among other proprietary designs like the Tavor X95 or HK SL8 etc, you can also find some other models that have shorter barrels than 18.6” that will then be considered restricted and can only be purchased with an RPAL and used at a legal range! Aside from that the best advice I can give is to call the RCMP and get as much information from them directly as you can, many people aren’t genuinely familiar with the laws and regulations and can get you in big trouble if you follow the wrong information!

If quality control is an issue save your money and buy something reliable. Turkish guns are all garbage! Just my opinion.
Definitely agree, I have had good experiences with a couple Turkish made shotguns (Stevens 555E & Winchester SXP) but those are overseen by American companies, your opinion is always valid and many should listen to it before jumping on an extremely "affordable" firearm!

Beeeee--yuuutiful . . . . what model is it?
@@kenlansing1216 It is a “U.S. Pioner” as per the barrels, imported into Canada under Ru-Ko Canada LTD in the mid 1900’s!
Years ago, can't remember how many, saw a article in the back woodsman magazine about a canoe gun. Just cutting down a mosin, keeping it legal though. I found a mosin at a local gun store, 100 bucks so I got it. Never cut it down though. Found canister ammo , 400 rounds for about $150. Thing is still fun to shoot and the ammo is still good.
7mm-08 would be the best compromise for power and recoil . More power than the 6.5 and less recoil than 308. Another bonus is 7mm-08 brass can easily be made from more common 308. Top it with a 2x7 scope or 2.5x8 Leupold to keep things lite and compact for fast handling. A setup like that would take care of 99% of your hunting needs. Retire the heavy kicking magnums and 06.
@@jaybailleaux630 I am a huge fan of 7mm-08 and agree with you in that regard for deer and maybe bear, I do think hunters would feel more comfortable shooting .308 or larger for Moose and Elk though, not everyone though, 7mm-08 is more than capable with proper shot placement, I am personally running a Leupold 2-7x33 on my M70 now, being that mine in particular is the featherweight compact, they don’t manufacture it in any magnums nor 06 calibers, some other models of the M70 do but I do think it’s worth having a couple magnums and Winchester has been smart enough to limit the options to the super popular ones like .300 Win Mag & 7mm Rem Mag, there will always be a need and market for them!

@@DelGTAGrndrs For you maybe it"s easy to find. In Nebraska where I'm at, it's almost a rarity to find in stores. And the prices are jacked up online due to a global conflict that needs no explanation.
Winchester came out with the tactical sx4 this year for the shot show special. Could be a great alternative to the beretta 1301 or a300
Definitely could be! Price point is likely a bit lower too, would be a great option for those who don't want to spend close to $2000 CAD! I know the reliability would be good!
@@LakesnWoodsOutdoors I never understood the hype for the 1301 or a300 tbh. 1301 is full of plastic and feels flimsy as hell. 1301 used to be sub $1500 CAD which is a decent deal, now it’s $2000+ and a300 is like $1600. With that price tag you might as well get a benelli m4 which is built like a tank. Berettas QC has gone down quite a bit and I’ve seen to many problems/parts breaking with 1301 and a300. Just my 2 cents haha
@@LakesnWoodsOutdoors oh btw I think the sx4 is very similar to the discontinued FN SLP (now that Winchester and browning both belong to FN). FN SLP was considered almost as prestigious and well made as benelli m4, sad that it was discontinued. Hopefully tactical SX4s deliver

@@aarontitusz8655 I have definitely seen QC issues for most manufacturers and that does include Winchester, but I agree with you about the 1301, I personally like the fit of the A300 better and find it can be a bit more reliable.
Thumbs up like for using a snap cap instead of dry firing a .22 LR like everybody else does. Once someone does that it pretty much gives away the fact they don't know what they are doing. Only thing you missed was the red Loc-tite. You can use a soldering iron or a heat gun to melt it before you twist on the screw. That makes it come out a lot easier. Don't use open flame lighters or torches as you can damage the finish as well as compromise the heat treating.
I sadly don’t have a soldering iron or heat gun, do you thinking a simple blow dryer would work? I stick to using blue loctite for that reason! Thanks for commenting!
@@LakesnWoodsOutdoors It wouldn't hurt to try it. The main thing is not to use a open flame heat source. It doesn't have to be glowing cherry red to melt Loc-Tite. Just enough to warm it up and make it gooey.
@@JohnDoeEagle1 Wonderful, appreciate the info!
Until they make bullet proof people this gun is a good bet to knock you out of your shoes !
I bought about 12 mosins years ago for around $110 Canadian. I have plenty to mess with. Wouldn’t buy one now.
I am waiting for RTI to "find" a batch of 91-30's from some far away African country. 😁(Of course they will be either "B" Or "C" grades)
The Mosin was the Timex of its day.
I have 3-Mosin's; a (Laminate) 91-30 that is in near-new condition! A Polish M44 (insert jokes here 😀) and a Finnish M39 (which was a b-day present-years ago) I am not going to sell them, still love them.
It’s hard not to love them, they’re super fun rifles and I personally really like the Finnish M39 and even the M44! The value of your rifles are inevitably going to increase, they’re definitely more sought after and are more uncommon than your standard M91/30
Is the magazine tube supposed to side in and out??? At 0.52 I notice it slid forward when you tilted it down and also when you cocked it.
Yes, they have an interesting design but it’s very common for older rifles such as these, the tube is connected to the receiver via a machined out piece, if you were to look up a disassembly video you would see what I am referring to, when you cycle the bolt, this piece moves based on the bolts position and also moves the tube, I was a little confused by it myself when I got the rifle, but it doesn’t cause any sort of function issues and have seen it on other rifles now so as far as I know it’s normal
I still got 4 years till i can get one of these things, that price better not keep getting higher man!
I think for the time being it will continue to rise, hopefully things change in the future, never know what will happen
I’m in New Hampshire 500-800$ is crazy. I got one 299$ just two weeks ago.
You can still get some for a good steal, conditions play a big part and simply finding the right buyer/seller, I have seen some still going for as little as $200, but majority are going for $500-$800 here in Canada
@@LakesnWoodsOutdoors I’ve noticed that. I’m originally from Florida and prices are way different it’s crazy how location and time of year can fluctuate the prices so much
