When I was thirteen and just starting to learn music, I met local legend Mauro Hector, who is to this day one of the best guitarists I’ve ever met. He was kind and patient, taught me and encouraged me when I knew next to nothing. Today, 36 years later, we met again in the same building for a jam and it felt as natural and fluid as ever. Thank you for everything Mauro!
Velho Tema - Fretless bass solo in three movements.

My family and I are visiting my mom in my home town of Santos Brazil. There’s a statue of my ancestor Vicente de Carvalho, poet of the sea at the beach here, so I sat at his feet and performed an improvised fretless bass solo in three movements. Velho Tema is a famous poem by him about how we look for happiness in all the wrong places. Produced and shot by Quincas and Lucas Moreira.

Having a bit of fun jamming with one of my favorite songs! Nowhere near as good as the original bass track by Melvin Gibbs, but when I joined Moises to test their stem separation, this was the first thing I felt like doing :) Song by Caetano Veloso, sung by Marisa Monte on her first studio album. Produced by Arto Lindsay with Bernie Worrell on keys and a bunch of other NYC geniuses!

@@QuincasMoreira Here is some reply from other channel ...."Afaik that is a printing error that somehow is still getting printed :). In one of the earlier prototypes of perkons there was a switch there that changed the mod source of the bbd modulation. Not entirely sure how it worked but the mid position was "S1". It seems like they missed the S when removing the print for that switch."

Honestly, I dislike the sound of the fretless bass. But the solo is so good, I really enjoy listening to it! And it seems that it fits the fretless. Thanks.

That bass sounds so good, but I imagine it is a bit strange to play, because you always play on the "fretboard".
@@xavierxeon there are no frets, so its a “fingerboard”, as on a cello or double bass ;) Not so strange to play, feels very natural to me!

You never explained sending clock to a synth and how to set it the most needed thing we were waiting for to keep our synth in time with it . I can’t get it to control or clock my PWM mantis synth from its midi out out to the mantis synth midi in and in the manual it says hold down shift and mod but it never says you can release those buttons! It drives me crazy with anger when stuff like sync to a synth is always overlooked. Inthese tutorials 😖😖😖😖

You don’t even mention using the shift mod button routines that should’ve been the first thing you discussed because I can’t figure out how to escape it without pushing the reset buttons . It stops me dead but I’m sure you probably won’t answer
You mean the configurations menu. Just press shift to exit
How do we ESCAPE SHIFT MOD BUTTON (to set the clock source ) THAT IMMEDIATELY ILLUMINATES THE RESET BUTTONS THAT immediately ERASES THE EXTERNAL CLOCK SOURCE SETTINGS and sets it back to internal clock ! It’s making me insane 😖😖

Amazing drums, bass, synths, everything. If you mix some pianet (looks like a pianet?) funk with some modular synths you're in Cidade de Deus/Tim Maia/Ed Mota territory. The hippest funk seems to be Brazilian
