This video is part 4 of 6 with taiji and spiritual teacher, Patrick
Patrick Kelly has been immersed for 45 years in the three great esoteric streams and presents an intelligent synthesis of Daoist/Buddhist, Gnostic/Sufi & Indian/Himalayan internal-work. He is a long time Taiji teacher with an emphasis on internal development and has authored 4 books on Taiji & meditation (in English, French, German, Italian, Chinese).
At the express wish of his teachers with the aim of making available the esoteric principles of internal development through the practice of Esoteric Taiji, psychological self-refinement and meditation, Patrick established a worldwide teaching network. This is a loose association of mature intelligent practitioners - with no committees, no fees, no rules, no obligations, no organisation to join and none to leave - people simply practice what is taught with more or less energy and intelligence according to their choice. Within it 100 senior practitioners (20+ years) along with 150 close practitioners (average 10 to 20 years) teach some thousands of students through their fully independent schools.

    Nice to watch. I knew a friend of Patrick, a lady named Linda H. She showed me vhs videos of Patrick and Master Huang decades ago. I remember something Master Huang told Patrick. It is advice we all need. "If the pain in your legs doesn't keep you awake at night, you are not training hard enough". I also remember Patrick wrote that Master Huang wouldn't teach him till he shaved his beard off. We must learn to not disrespect our teachers, and learn their customs.

    The interview seems overly intellectual in it's approach and content. Where is the heart of the matter? "Everything we hear is an opinion, not a fact, everything we see is a perspective, not a truth" - Marcus Aurelius If Taiji, or anything else, is to be of any real use to a person, then one probably needs to dedicate much of one's life to it. However, dedication and time do not necessarily guarantee success. Be humble, be vigilant; guard against the ego, lest we become it's victim. If in doubt, then do no harm to anybody, let no harm be done to others.

  • @esaiashobbs
    @esaiashobbs Před 3 lety

    Interesting his answer to why more people are not engaged with the process, however I found it to be rather incomplete. While it's true that the pressure from the environment can cover up the impetus to engage internal training he fails to mention that it is not only "people" that create an influence but also "places" and "things". A simple example of how thiings influence us is how we feel wearing a suit versus a tracksuit or how we feel at the wheel of a mini versus a ferrari. An example of the influence of places might be how we feel walking into a high street bank versus, being in a forest or by the sea. Partick makes no mention in the question of 'why more people are not engaged in an internal process' of desire; my belief is that some of us have a greater desire to engage internal training than others; some of us are more enaged with the outer aspects of existence. Where we come from is also important; who one's parents are and the nature of their internal state (especially at the moment our conception) and the nature of their parent's internal state and so on. So, what is it that motivates the desire to engage internal training or on a broader scale what provokes / encourages any desire come to that? In a very simplistic way I'd suggest that it has to do with our internal make up and this very much determines what we are drawn to and what we draw into ourselves. What we engage with will change our internal state accordingly and draw us more towards the state of whatever it is that we engage. How is it that our internal state is changed by the activities we engage? The nature of the activities we engage enters out being through the nine orifcies (this is understood in many / most religious and spiritual practices). This isn't limited to activity either; the food we eat influences us and the state of the person when they prepare / eat the food affects our state. Whether we feel these things is done to the sensitivity we have acquired to the nature of existence in this world and in the words of Forest Gump - "that's all I have to say about that..." (hahahah).
