The booming, unique voice of Darrin Looker! Colorful, commanding and deep- and he's funny too. It's tough to find Grand Forks and even harder to get into the Ralph, but this guy just might be the best PA guy in all of hockey. I love great PA voices (and organists), and he's the best I've heard in many years. Fighting Sioux (pardon me, Hawks) games aren't official without the marvelous voice of the pride of Thief River Falls, MN...the one and only Darrin Looker!

Pal, which is supported in Lenovo E530? SATA II or SATA III ? I'm planing to upgrade to SSD. As the SATA III is miore expensive than the SATA II, I wanna buy SATA II SSD unless I know that SATA III is supported by E530.

Well, a $600 laptop will usually be better than a $500 laptop -- assuming we're comparing similar make/model. The more expensive one may just add a slightly faster processor, slightly bigger hard drive, and/or may add an extra feature like fingerprint reader. But, taking the cheaper one and pulling the hard drive so you can replace it with a $100 Solid State Drive will drastically increase the performance - far beyond the $600, or even $750 similar make/model. Because SSD > Faster CPU. :)

I was thinking the $600 laptop would be beter because the price of everything is in bulk, like if I were to buy all the exact same parts to build a laptop it would be more expensive, but your comment explains this.

Yes, but good thing for you is that the SSD upgrade will make your $500 laptop far faster than even a $900 laptop (assuming your $900 laptop doesn't have a SSD). Serious. We've sold PCs with Intel Core i7, 16 GB of RAM, etc. and it doesn't boot up or open programs as quick as an Intel Pentium Dual-Core with 4 GB of RAM -- all because of that SSD instead of a standard Hard Drive.

Non-Lenovo branded drives are around $100 - $120 for 120 GB and $160 - $190 250 GB. We've used Crucial, Intel, Kingston, and Samsung. Granted, if you swap drives... You'll want to clone your existing drive to the new SSD, unless you'd rather just reload the OS with the restore discs and "start over".

Honestly, any SATA II / SATA III Solid State Drive should be compatible with virtually any laptop. We've used Lenovo branded SSD's in a few models, but have also used Samsung and Intel drives in others where the customer wasn't concerned having a Lenovo brand drive for warranty sake and preferred to save money. :)

I won't claim to be an expert on every model, but I'm fairly confident that any time in the current models where they include a 16 GB SSD, it's a "16GB SSD Cache for Lenovo Hard Disk Drive Performance Booster" -- meaning it's not usable as a Storage Device.

Nice video. Thinking of buying the E530 i7 8GB 1TB and 16GB (hybrid drive). From my understanding is it then possible to put for example a 64 or 128GB SSD (sata something..) in for the hybrid drive and then use it as a normal hard drive? ( It would be nice to have programs on the SSD and pictures etc. on the 1TB harddrive.) Thanks

To start with, I wanted to point out that the 32 GB SSD in the IdeaPad U310 is for the sole purpose of supporting Intel Rapid Start Technology, apparently. That leads me to wonder if it's not better to leave it as is or consider upgrading it to a larger SSD for the OS to be installed on. As for transferring the OS -- you'd want to Clone the drive or just do a fresh format/re-install of Windows on it.

I'll do a fresh install if that's the case. That will get rid of all the bloatware and it will be installed on the ssd drive. Thanks for the quick reply and I'll let ya know!

We've sold a IdeaPad U310, which had a 500GB HDD and a 32GB SSD, but the SSD wasn't configured as the Primary Drive with the Operating System installed on it, which means the machine didn't have blazing fast speeds seen here. In order to have the blazing fast speeds seen on the right -- the SSD has to be the drive with the OS installed on it. Let me know how yours performs though! sales@bitzpc.com

my e530 comes with a hybrid one. 30gb ssd 750gb 5300 rpm. This shit will be fast. Thanks for the vid
