Exactly! You can say I also didn't see him in game. He was huge and the corridors were really small. I tried to get a good shot of him but that is all I could get, unfortunately. hahaha

That's so true! I have a group of friends that met through UO, EQ, DAoC back in the late 90s, early 2000s and we still play together to this day! Not all the time, but every once in a while we go back to an old MMO. Right now, some people in this group are playing EQ in Teek and some are playing UO in the Oulands free shard.

It is faster to get to Karnor's Castle by porting to Skyfire, zoning into Burning Woods and then /picking or evacuating to DL zoneline. I could have used Origin as well but it would have taken longer to get there. But it is a valid option as well.

Oh no! He could have just picked over twice! Would take him the same 5 minutes he wasted trying to get out. But I confess I was a little desperate when I fell.. took me a while to think what I needed to do... as can be seen in the video. That was not staged lol. I just recorded the whole night (the raw video is over 3h long which amounts to 78 Gb). EQ is a game of perseverance. We don't want to rage quit over tiny things like that. That is to be expected haha

The camp fights even on the traditional PvE servers were wild. I can only imagine how wild it was on Rallos Zek.

@@TheoreticalGameDesigner PVP fixed the lamest parts of EQ. All the rule-lawyering and poop-socking gets thrown out the window, and fighting other players gives you something to do at max level that isn't the month's long grind to min-max gear. Plus most of the best PVP gear was a lot easier to acquire, with exception of the Amulet of Necropotence, which was just shared for big guild PVP fights.

I dislike RMT as well, but unfortunately it is all over the place, either formally supported by the developers or through another channels. But you can still play by your own rules. I didn't buy a single Krono with real money. I traded them for loot earned playing the game. As I said, Krono is a reserve of value. Platinum inflation is explosive. You can't waste time hoarding platinum pieces anymore.

It is still a great game. Classic MMOs are my favorite (UO, EQ, DAoC and the such). They were so different from each other and still managed to be awesome in their own way. Innovation was rampant in the late 90s, early 2000s. It is so interesting to see how the game evolved over the years and how MMOs such as WoW improved upon some of it, like raids, and failed in other areas, like the social aspect.

Yes.. people seems to be waiting for Velious to drop two weeks from this day. But you'll still find people to group even now. If you have friends to play with, the experience is much better overall, though.

use /pick to see if there are other instances of the zone. Usually if a zone is popular there may be over 10 different instances. I don't support botting but it's easy to coexist on a popular server. Also the agents of change let your full group request your own private instance of the zone. The modern conveniences make the game playable for everyone. Bots and all.

Since this is not a PvP game, what other people do to progress their characters should not interfere with your gameplay experience. Just don't spend any money and you'll play the way you want.

Every MMORPG is pay 2 win if you're willing to pay. For games that don't have KR, or servers like Origins (EQ2) people just buy Plat with RL money.

Kunark is a great expansion. But it got stale after a while. I want to see what the next expansions bring to the table, especially after PoP, when I originally quit the game. That's why I think TLPs in general, and Teek specifically, can be a good choice.

Well with Teek being the most popular server ever, its good that it does suck the last remaining dollars out of people's pockets. Without TLPS there is no Everquest its the lifeblood of the entire franchise. It also brings in investors willing to help create games like EQ3.

It is kind of the opposite. I never bought any Krono with real money. I said you can drop some loot playing the game and then sell it for Krono to protect your money from inflation. Krono prices skyrocket in TLPs, devaluing the platinum pieces. That is a problem, of course, but they are a reserve value. And because of the krono farmers, there is so much loot being sold that their prices collapse once we are hitting the next expansion. At first, the price of the items are really high. Then, if you want to catch up, you'll be fine because the items will be cheaper. TLPs have their own problem with botters and PLers, but a free trade server increases the chances you can farm your own loot, instead of buying with real money.

Who finds a metal pipe and shove it in their bag for later use? That lizardman is up to no good. Or does he know something we don't? haha :D

There are some items that are not random, like a lot of epic quest stuff. But you'd be surprised with how good is the random loot. With little time to enjoy an expansion on TLPs, with no random loot you'd probably never see some items dropping for you, let alone you winning the roll or a dkp bid.

Velious has a lot of farming opportunity, all those armor sets! Not to mention the Shawl Quest

Velious is mostly a raiding expansion but there are still plenty of group farming too.

Hype! Let's hope we will stay on Teek was long as we are having fun! It's really interesting to see all the different ways EQ evolved. Mischief, which has the same ruleset as Teek, still have High population on prime time 3 years after launch. I am certain Teek will be same.

It really is the crown jewel of Classic EQ. They did have Agnarr, which stopped at Planes of Power. Maybe they could do a server stopping at SoV someday. For now, Project 1999 is the server you are looking for if you want to experience classic EQ until Scars of Velious.

Project 99 is free, stops at Velious. There is still a solid community, check it out!

Same for me! I played on three past TLPs but only got as far as level 21, 15 and 42, respectively. When I played in the early 2000s, I got as far as lvl 62 then quit before Legacy of Ykesha launched. First time I have a character on the level cap in era is here in Teek haha :d The tower gear really helps with gearing as well

Every month of 2024 they release a new quest and unlock a new door so you can buy completely busted gear, things that will probably last until Shadows of Luclin or Planes of Power. The item slots released thus far are: charm, face, neck, earrings (x2), shoulder, ring and cloak.

And despite this, or maybe because of this, I find it to be one of the most amazing dungeons of all MMORPGs ever

A good enchanter is the key to have a smooth experience in Guk. Crowd Control plays a major role here.

Yeah.. that hag's thunder spell hits hard and mobs aggro a lot there. We needed to break camp with lull first. Pathing is also a little bit weird there. Our first Garanel Rucksif pull brought like 10 mobs because he fell to the bottom of the pit there lol

He was too lazy to skill up his feign death at this time. Or, the group was leveling so fast he had no time to level it up. But, fret not. Before going to Guk, he leveled to cap :D

haha at least he was doing his job as the wizard of the group. The casters hit hard at low levels and were 50%+ of the dps (wizard and magician).

It is so hard to see in Warsliks Woods that I thought that an open area would be more safe than being tied in one of the directions. There are so many roaming mobs. This trip really felt dangerous. We made it in about 30 minutes or so. So, the idea of dying and needing to spend another 30 minutes walking again with no speed buff was terrifying haha
