Vehicle is trash. Common sense alone tells you this. You are going to have to replace the motor by 150k. Cost 4-7k. Race Honda build is the same cost with bullet proof parts. Get this trash off the market. They should refund anyone who owns this garbage.

Hmmm, mine has over 240k on it and no real issues.. it needs a new fuel filter and a few other things though

watch enough of these "don't buy this or that" vehicle videos , you should not buy anything at all and just get yourself a horse instead. remember to always take these with a grain of salt, people are ALWAYS fast and loud about complaining. The experience of a handfull online does not mean ALL vehicles will have these problems.

I have a 2014 2.4 terrain slt awd, bought it with rebuilt title when had around 30k miles. Only paid $6,999 that was around 4 years ago, so figured low mile suv with awd I could use for winter. Wife liked it, so she's driven it daily and has around 70,000 miles now, so we got our money worth. I have no oil blow by, I did put a gm venting oil cap to be safe. Only issue, would stall startups, then run fine, never stalled when driving. Found a youtube video saying add a oil thickener, I added bardahl no smoke, about 1/2 the bottle, approx 8 oz, has never stalled since adding the oil thickener. This was 3 years ago I discovered the oil thickener stopped the stalling. If I don't add it after oil change it stalls, so is just part of my oil changes now, uses very little oil between changes. I'm happy with what I paid and been reliable. No engine codes at all.

I purchased a 2014 Equinox 1LT in 2020 for 5K with 180K miles on it! I now have 210K miles and the only repair I made was replacing the water pump. I don’t have any oil consumption issues and I change my oil every 5K miles.

My advise, check your oil every time you go to get in your equinox. Mine has 243000 miles and runs identically to most of the comments on this video and has the same problems. It was an economy SUV that wasn’t clearly quite designed for the average Joe. If you’ve had a few beaters before you purchased one of these then you might have learned how to maintain a high maintenance car like these Edit: my eco button cause my car to straight up misfire when idling. I’ve replaced VVT solenoids and still does it. Don’t need it tho lol

My 2010 equinox awd lt has 230,000 on it, I have replaced essentially everything including the motor. This car is an absolute beast, taken me across the country many times, winter in WI is a breeze, and I have never felt safer. Only problem is it breaks a fuckn lot, shit just breaks after a while. Just replace it and keep runnin.

I own a 2013 Equinox 2.4 and I have no issues with it. Mainly because it has always had synthetic oil and regular maintenance. At just over 160k miles, it's still running strong.

My daughter has one. It just got it's 4th engine.

My 2015 has 190,000 I guess with the mileage the oil consumption would be normal for a 70 model 305 with bad rings 😂I literally use a Quart Every week No matter What Hope My Engine is Like a Rock Originally had 28,000 🤷

My 2014 Terrain had a cracked exhaust manifold and the transfer case literally disintegrated, both at 95k miles! Change oil every 3500 like clockwork, that’s been ok. I’ll never buy one again….

Just recently bought an used GMC Terrain for 3.5k$ with 150k miles, I always wanted to try out a Terrain or Acadia. My family always been a GMC family so I was influenced to buy one. Biggest regret so far, my biggest issue the transmission slip, got to the point I couldn't go in reverse, just replaced it TODAY 2.4k$ for the new transmission and it does a small slip going from 1st to 2nd gear. I get it needs to "break-in" but it really is heartbreaking how GMC has fallen, and it's making me feel like I should trade it in...

We have a 2016 Equinox LTZ 2.4L with 155,000. Only one issue. It would start run 2-5 seconds and stall. No check engine light, no codes. I disconnected the MAF sensor it started and ran with a check engine light and a code. Replaced sensor-fixed. I am a retired aircraft mechanic and a car shade tree mechanic I have absolutely no complaints. Very easy to work on IMHO. I live in Florida so the car is never in cold OAT's. Good info though brother on the PVC valve.

I have a 2007 Chevy uplander glove compartment boke. The back panel on the door handle was missing. The power mirror doesn't work. I'm having ac issue i get a puddle in the front passenger floor and ac blows hot air. I did have to get a new radiator recently Lighting on dashboard dont work other that I love the mini van used it to go from south Texas to Missouri many times. I've had this van for a year. I work for Wal-Mart too 😂 Wal-Mart sucks. Wishing you the best.😊

I have a '17 2.4 Equinox with 83,000 miles Have had it since since 16k. Ive always changed the oil when the indicator says to. Was running Amsoil for a while, switched to Fram, but back to Amsoil, but using the high mileage oil. Just did an engine flush, and the second treatment of seafoam through the intake. I do have a small oil leak now, but that was prior to the engine flush. Its either the crank seal or upper oil pan seal. Ive also been running the vented oil cap for probably 30-40k and just recently put an oil catch can on it. Besides the small oil leak, its done me great and with good oil and routine maintenance i dont see why it wouldn't keep going. Im thinking about throwing some Lucas oil Engine Stop leak in at some point and see if that helps the leak. Probably end up changing the oil around 5k though. 3k is just too often especially if your running synthetic.

I just moved to a state with very steep hills and I can tell my terrain is sounding different almost like a humming sound. Could this be because I’m not using this? Would it help?

My 2016 2.4 Equinox is an absolute POS ! Bought it with 5k miles. Ive had so many problems with it, i dont even want to type it all ! It now only has 146k miles on it. And always done the maintenance as required. But just to name a few problems, replaced transmission@105k, replaced rack and pinion@130k, and the body control module just went out. And many other problems. Its been ABSOLUTE PIECE OF JUNK !!! This is my 5th GM vehicle, but I'LL NEVER buy another GM vehicle agian !!

I watched your video on the Uplander cargo van . I have a 2005. And I used to pressure wash malls, dumpster enclosure, entry ways and business areas. You can fix that glove box latch by needle nose pliers. Adjust the strike a bit. It from stuffing the box too full of parking tickets in the city, lol

Complete junk . Have a 2010 GMC terrain 2.4 with 92k miles on it. What a nightmare. Burns engine oil, Uses a quart of oil every 1000 miles. The transmission slips and constantly causes trouble from not knowing what gear its in and slams out of gear at times going into 2 gear. Electronics are breaking down, window switches, tracksion control switch and manual gear switch. Pcv valves are junk too. Stay away from these if you value your hard earned money. There is a few out there that are not lemons but very rare to find. 90% are junk. Buy a toyota. Gm is ripping us off. Shameful

I'm definitely having this problem on my 2011 Equinox. Added an oil catch can and cleaned out that pin hole but still burning oil.

Thanks for sharing this video. A big issue that I find with used American cars is how sketchy they can be. If the previous owner disregarded regular maintenance (oil and filter chnages), then you the new owner will have expensive mechanical repair problems to deal with. American cars are more sensitive than German or Japanese cars. I had a friend change out his engine oil on his 2018 Honda Civic every 35k miles and no problems. If that kind of sluggish maintenance were done on American cars, you would’ve destroyed your engine multiple times over. I bought a brand new 2021 Chevy Equinox and have since put 60k miles on it. No issues at all because I get the engine oil, oil filter, and the engine air filter changed out in half the time that GM recommends. The manufacturers are in the business of selling new cars and only want to push the warranty for 3-5 years before selling you another new car again.
