    When night breed was made originally, it was almost 4 hours long but the studio executives wanted it cut down to an hour and a half for theatrical release. Recently clive barker re-released Night Breed in its full original 4 hour cut called the Cabal Cut. Added note the movie was based off one of clive barker s classic novel's called "CABAL"

      Not to mention that as Clive Barker an others basically every single person that worked on the movie. All say on the Shout /Scream Factory directors cut of Nightbreed. That the movie studio mutilated an Butchered the movie for the Theatrical release version. They all say on the bonus features that when they seen it they all said. What movie is this this is not the movie from the script or screenplay an this is not the movie that we made. The directors cut of Nightbreed is the movie that is an was in the original script or screenplay. That Clive Barker wrote an directed so its the only version worth watching for that reason. Now the Cabal cut was made before the directors cut. It has some of the original scenes put back in the movie. As they discussed it in the audio commentary with Clive Barker an on the other bonus features with Clive Barker. But the Directors cut has everything from the Cabal cut in it an everything else that was cut out by the movie studio. The original movie was not 4 hours long that was not the problem the movie studio had. With the movie They told Clive Barker the problem they had with it was. The fact it shows the Nightbreed as innocent people that just want to live in peace away from others. Then the normal humans come an attack an kill them for no valid reason. Making the humans the monsters in this movie. The movie studio wanted the normal humans to be the good guys an the Nightbreed to be the monsters. So in the Theatrical release version it shows the Nightbreed acting more like monsters. Then people that just want to live in peace an be left alone.

      @@thomasjohnsonwolfbane5494 No problem it's not your fault the falt lies with the movie studio. Because they made a mess out of the original movie. That others tried to restore it that result was the Cabal version. Then years later it resulted in the directors cut of the movie. But if the movie studio just released it like Clive Barker originally filmed it in the first place. There would be no confusion or different versions of people restoring it.

    As a Spaniard, I remember watching this when I was younger, and at the same time we were studying the whole franco dictatorship and his fascist regime at school. This movie left a way deeper impression in me than any of those history books tbh. It was such recent and horrific part of our history, but I’m glad del toro made something special and useful for the future out of it. Thanks 4 the reaction ❤

  • @83shadow3

    On the Shout/Scream directors cut of the movie wich it the only version worth watching. Because its the actual movie that Clive Barker wrote an directed. But on the audio commentary an other bonus features an before the movie even starts. Clive Barker talks about how the movie studio as he put it Butchered this movie. Because its a movie that is meant to show the Nightbreed as the innocent victims. Because they wanted to left alone to live in peace away from other people. But the humans are the real monsters because they just want to kill them only because they look different. So the humans attack the Nightbreed for no valid reason. Then kill them for no valid reason. The movie studio did not like this so they cut an added scenes to make the Nightbreed look. Like monster an things to fit the monsters or creatures bad an humans good narrative. In the theatrical release version of the movie. On the bonus features for the movie every single one of them. Every single person that worked on the movie on camera an behind the scenes. Said the exact same thing even if they never seen the screenplay or script. When they seen the theatrical release version they said what. Am I watching this is not the movie from the script or screenplay an not the movie we made. So that's why the directors cut of Nightbreed is the only version of the movie worth watching. Because its the actual story that Clive Barker wrote an wanted to tell an show people.

      What scene could the studio possibly have cut from the theatrical version that changed the story enough to make the monsters the bad guys? I watched this movie on VHS over and over as a kid in the early 90's, the monsters were always the good guys. The studios maybe made the monsters the bad guys in the commercials and trailers since they really had no idea how to promote this movie. I haven't watched the theatrical version in 30 years, I don't think it's available anywhere anymore, but I would wager I prefer that version to the directors cut. The extended musical number was totally unnecessary, the girlfriend killing herself was melodramatic and I liked the priest resurrecting Decker better. Clive Barker is one of my favorite authors and I adore his movies for their tone, visuals and ideas, but he is an inexperienced film director and maybe the studio was right to make some cuts.

    • @83shadow3
      @83shadow3 Před 8 hodinami

      @@generativejamessgamess1179 It sounds like you actually don't care or like Clive Barkers. Story's or story telling at all from every single thing that you just said. Because the girlfriend singing and her death was key parts of the movie. Because part of the story that Clive Barker was telling is about their relationship. That song was because he never really got mad or showed emotions at all. Hans her singing Johnny get angry Johny get mad Johnny get sad because he never really showed no emotions at all. Then at the end it showed she excepted him regardless of who or what he was. That she rather die then be without him. Then the part of the priest telling the people to stop attacking an killing the Nightbreed. Shows that even he sees that they are the real monsters there. Then the movie studio cut scenes that shows the Nightbreed acting like normal people. Then added scenes that show them acting more violent. They even completely removed Doug Bradley's dialogue from the entire movie. Then had someone else say it and put it over him saying it. Like for example the guy that Boone takes to in the hospital that removed some of his face. They added more scenes of him acting more violent. Because in the original script or screenplay he has less screen time. They also added more screen time of the ballscercers. Then was in the original script or screenplay. Then there is never a valid reason to take what. A movie writer and director writes an directed then cut things out of it an add things to it. To make it tell an show a new story. It's that simple if you approve that screenplay or script that's the movie that you let the writers an directors make. Then that's the movie that you release unaltered. If you don't like the script or screenplay you don't approve of it at all. Then they go to find some else to get the movie founded its that simple. Because even people in the props department an practical effects department that never seen or read the script or screenplay. Say on the bonus features for the Directors cut of Nightbreed. Even said the theatrical release version is not the movie that they made. When all they did was work on the creature effects and makeup an props. As Clive Barker said the movie studio Butchered it an made it into another movie completely. With a new story plot. Because the stuff with Boone an his girlfriend where the core heart of the movie. If you have issues with the director cut of Nightbreed. Then you don't like or care about Clive Barkers movies or his writing at all.

    • @83shadow3
      @83shadow3 Před 7 hodinami

      Then the directors cut is only longer because of the additional scenes. The movie studio added to the movie. Because here's how they put together the directors cut of Nightbreed. They took the theatrical release version then they put back all of the original scenes. That the movie studio cut out of the movie. So say for example the movie studio cut say 6 scenes that where say 3 minutes each. But they added like 12 scenes that were like 5 minutes each. Wich is basically what the movie studio did. You have around 18 minutes of scenes from the original uncut an unaltered movie. Then you have around 60 minutes of new scenes that the movie studio added to the. Movie after it was finished. So the original uncut and unaltered Nightbreed movie would have been shorter. Then the Theatrical release version. Because they added more then they cut from the movie. But the Directors cut has the original 18 minutes from the original restored scenes. Plus the additional 60 minutes that the movie studio added. To the movie after it was already finished. So basically an simply blame the movie studio for it being longer.

      @@83shadow3 Disliking something about an artists work or being able to acknowledge flaws in said work does not mean that you do not like or care about their work. I don't have to think every little thing Clive Barker does is genius to be a Clive Barker fan. I'm very much a Clive Barker fan. But my opinion is that everything you said about Boone and Loris relationship came across to me in the theatrical cut. To me, the added scenes of them don't add much to the story but they do affect the pacing. And the song is cringe. Also, I may have like the added scenes more if the acting was better. The acting isn't great in this movie, or honestly any Clive Barker movie. For example, Hellraiser. Beside Andrew Robinson and the Cenobites, the acting is uniformly awful. Buts its still one of my favorite movies! About the scenes added by the studio, were they shot without input or direction from Barker? I ask because I don't know. And who was the new violence directed towards? Did faceless guy assault a doctor in the hospital? Was it against the culty police guys? I don't remember him or the berserkers being violent against any innocent people. But, like I said, I haven't seen the theatrical cut in decades so I could be forgetting something. I understand why Barker was mad but I still don't think the directors cut really changed the actual story, it just filled it out. The monsters were always the good guys. Also, the stuff about changing Doug Bradleys voice is interesting. Are you saying he has different dialogue in the different versions? And in the theatrical version he is saying evil things?

    "That's true." "Everything is true. God's an Astronaut. Oz is Over the Rainbow, and Midian is where the monsters live... And you came to die." Fun Fact: Clive Barker does have a cameo, but is unrecognizable in a catlike monster mask. The Rest Of The Story Fact: David Cronenberg wrote the script for Naked Lunch (1991) in his spare time when he wasn't acting in this 1988 produced film. Bibliophile Enthusiast Fact: In the Bible, Midian was the land in which Moses lived for forty years in self-imposed exile. It was in Midian that God appeared to Moses as the burning bush, telling him to go back to Egypt to free the Israelites. The Wall Fact: During the opening credits sequence, the camera pans over a wall with art by Ralph McQuarrie. According to the Director's Cut video commentary, this wall was broken into pieces when the sets were demolished. This greatly upset Clive Barker who would have loved to have taken the wall segments home and preserved them. Casting Notes Fact: The role of Ohnaka was first intended for singer Marc Almond and he was contracted to play the part, but his management strongly advised against the role given the nature of the film, as he was seeking to redefine his previously dark image as a more mainstream crooner at the time. The part subsequently went to Simon Bamford, who was already a friend of Clive Barker. Director's Cut Fact: Though promised a cleaned-up version of the extended VHS work-print dubbed "The Cabal Cut" in July 2014, fans were delighted when Scream Factory announced that the original film was found, restored at 4K and re-cut under Clive Barker's supervision, ending a 24-year-long plea for the "Directors Cut" to be released, in two packages in Oct. 2014. Doug Bradley re-recorded his dialogue as Lylesberg, restoring his voice after being dubbed in the theatrical release. Actors Victoria Barker, Jack Bennett, and Alexis De La Rocha recorded additional dialogue and looped other characters in the Director's Cut.
