That’s actually a 1966 because it doesn’t have the turn indicator fins on the ends of each fender like the 1967 models.

I had a GTO the same color gold exterior and interior back in the early '70's before the Arab embargo and gas prices went through the roof. I see it has an automatic 2-speed Powerglide just like mine. I never liked that tranny. It was boring and caused the car to guzzle gas like crazy. Mine also had factory wheels and hubcaps, sort of of the slotted variety if anyone remembers those. Ah, the memories!

Only three “Thumbs Up” in eight years? This fact just confirms how quirky my taste in cars is. When someone does such a magnificent resto-mod job on a car that’s so well-built and beautifully designed as this wonderful old Mercury, they’re to be thanked for preserving something very special, the likes of which will never again be built. I’m older than this car, (1949), and I’ll strongly encourage younger folks to try to see cars, even nations, in their eras.
