2.8 Million Home with an HRV for a condo
Heat Recover Ventilators are required to conform the the Building Code in your local area. If the Building Code requires all the air in you home to be exchanged every hour or two hours it’s a pretty simple calculation. So why do I continuously find undersized HRV’s on brand new home around Vancouver?

The OSB is there probably because the engineer called for it on a that shear wall. Sorry but the house not racking is pretty important. Also, the engineer determines the amount of ventilation required. (FYI is still inclined to double check, the sq/ft is listed on the plans, permit, sales sheets, and probably on the inspection work order. No need for calculations) Oh and the engineer who designed the tub probably required the plywood for reinforcing that thin acrylic/fiberglass tub bottom on that elevated tub with a pre pitched support so it drains properly (hence the resin you see adhering it). The fabric tie offs are supposed to be cut and disposed of when the roofer is done because they will degrade over time and possibly be a liability for the homeowner in the future if anyone tied off to them. Bubbles? Okay There is nothing wrong with drywall that has been installed behind the tub. Probably there as a rigid air barrier against that wall that appears to be garage exterior wall. Notice it is behind the tub. Not on top of the tub. Whatever backer will be used will be installed on top of drywall sitting directly on the top of the tub. Not behind it like it is in the video. Good catch on the joist hangers though 👍

I've actually had to convince a "framer" that joist hangers aren't supposed to be installed this way. He had been doibg it like that "for years," he said, and he was taught that by a "real" framer. He also wanted to argue about the proper rough opening size for interior doors. He eas adding 1" to the called out door widths. Needless yo say, he didn't last long on that job. 😅😂
