To avoid this when you add the formulas to tracked_rank and budget_rank columns add “10” to the result so the numbering will start from 11 and not from 1. Its a great tutorial but Excel got a lot of updates and seems that a lot of functions are not working like relative cell reference for the category column. Seems that we cannot use indirect function with relative cell reference, its showing error and can't seem to solve it. Need a new updated tutorial for this please

I have a doubt regarding the tracking. I can't see reflected here credit card payments. In my opinion it's important to track those expenses in the same way as the rest, so for example if I pay a car repair bill with my AMEX, I want to track all car expenses together. However, that amount is not deducted in the same day of payment but later. I tried adding a cutting date as well as a charge date and bank account to track that but I can't manage to make it work, so for example a charge in my AMEX on the 5th of August is going to be charged in my bank account on the 3rd of September. I tried to change the [Bank]=[@bank] formula in the sumproduct formula in the balance column with [Bank]=charge_account (a named field), but it doesn't seem to work. Is there any way to do it? Make two different banks (bank and credit card name) merge in the same balance? I'm using date and alternative date too, but using the alternative date as the main date field, by using an IF formula that whenever the bank is AMEX, for example, the alternative date is the next month's charge date and if the bank is not AMEX, copy the actual charge date. At time stamp 02:06:43, Is anyone else receiving the #VALUE when the selected period = Current Month? When I use the drop down for Total Year and each individual month, I receive the correct output, but when I select Current Month, I receive the #VALUE error.

I'm a bit confused regarding how it would work if you expect to have a negative balance during a period, i.e. Income< Expenses+Savings. Should you plan a negative amount on the savings part so the period is balanced? Then, would you need to make a Savings input on the Budget Tracking at the end of the period for the final negative balance for that period?

Hello everyone! I followed the procedure and created the template for personal use. However, when I tried to split my expenses into 16 categories, I encountered an issue that you may have also faced. When the number of categories exceeds nine, the sorting logic of the `{comp_rank}` column no longer works as shown in the tutorial. For example, let's say you have two categories: "Other Expenses" and "Groceries." If "Other Expenses" has a `tracked_rank` of 6 and a `budget_rank` of 11, this results in a `comb_rank` of 611. Meanwhile, "Groceries" with a `tracked_rank` of 7 and a `budget_rank` of 9 results in a `comb_rank` of 709. According to the ascending sorting logic we followed, "Other Expenses" should come first and "Groceries" second. However, due to the double-digit rank (budget_rank = 11), this logic fails because it results in a `comb_rank` for "Other Expenses" (611) that is lower than the `comb_rank` for "Groceries" (79). In conclusion, the issue arises because when there are more than ten categories, combining two digits directly (like 8 and 10 becoming 810) does not maintain the intended sorting logic. To fix this issue while minimizing changes to your Excel formulas, we can use a mathematical approach instead of concatenating the ranks as strings and converting them to a number. This approach ensures that all ranks are correctly ordered regardless of the number of digits. Use a formula that considers both ranks' values in a way that maintains the correct order even with double-digit numbers. Replace your existing formula in the `{comp_rank}` column with: =tracked_rank * 100 + budget_rank This formula multiplies the `tracked_rank` by 100 and then adds the `budget_rank`. For example: - If `tracked_rank` is 6 and `budget_rank` is 11, the `comb_rank` will be 611 ("Other Expenses"). - If `tracked_rank` is 7 and `budget_rank` is 9, the `comb_rank` will be 709 ("Groceries"). This method ensures that all `tracked_rank` values are given more weight than any `budget_rank` values, preserving your sorting logic even when ranks are double digits. Not sure if you will see this but I wanted to know on the budget planning section, you enter categories manual as you need them. I followed this but I imported the categories from a table using forms and then I can enable them or disable them based on the needs. however the adjacent rows where the values are entered is not moving.
