After A Severe Pruning: Blueberry Update

I've had these four blueberry bushes for at least 14 years, and they are just too old to take the harsh cold that we got this past winter. Blueberries produce really well for about 5 years, then production wanes off. So prune them back. A severe pruning encourages them to make suckers from their root system, and you will have exact clones of the parent plant. Perfect for that bush that makes yo...

I made friends with a wild bunny during the drought last year. I planted cover crops of peas and beans to begin improving the terrible soil here and they did poorly in the extreme heat except for leaf production so I let her eat some of them and gave her bowls of water. A disease greatly reduced their population several years ago and I was hoping she`d have nests here but I haven`t seen any babies. She`s still around. This year I put pepper powder on my purple hulls and ground cherries and she leaves them alone but there`s plenty of grass and weeds so far this year. She sneaks up on me when I`m in my garden and startles me but I think she feels safer with me out there because of all the owls here.

I planted a Chico jujube which had tiny thorns. Well, one year later the thorns are like, as you said, hypodermics. It's too close to bud break for me to move it now but this fall, I'm putting it somewhere away from where we and our dogs walk. Thanks for your video. Good luck with your jujubes!
