Port of Blyth Completes Orbital Marine Tidal Turbine Decommissioning

Offshore decommissioning partners Port of Blyth and Thompsons of Prudhoe recently completed a project to decommission Orbital Marine Power's 2MW SR2000 floating tidal turbine. The project included a 516-tonne tandem lift of the turbine onto the quayside using crawler cranes, in what was the port’s largest heavy lift to date.

      and J-lay tower that will be installed on the ship later on and then used for pipeline installation. on video we see the installation of tower levelling system that allows tower to rotate from vertical position (90 degrees) to a different angle, say 60 degrees.

    What happened to the two offshore turbines from 2000?

      Hi Thomas, they are likely to be decommissioned later this year through the Port and we could well be using one of the turbines for training purposes to support future wind sector growth. As you may know they were the first offshore turbines in UK waters so have a significance to the industry.
