I started this channel a while back because I was so touched by Khalil Gibran's Love poem that I wanted to share it. The poem had come to me at a critical time in my life and I needed to pass it on. So much wisdom and understanding has been passed on through poetry, I heard someone once said the only thing that is permanent is literature. I can some truth in that. Poets like Rumi, Hafiz are now being discovered in the West and it is a privilege to narrate them here. Poems that I share here have been a source of peace, strength or simply joy (although there is a few that I were inspired to write myself :).
I hope that whoever visit this channel, will leave feeling uplifted with more warmth and peace in their heart! This is my way to create what was once a favourite pastime in my family, online , with every single one of you! May you be free, may you be at peace, always! (even when you're not).

Khalil Gibran on Defeat (Kahlil Gibran)
This poem resonates deeply. Every experience holds a gift and has its purpose for our growth.
Music by" Peder B. Helland - You & Me (Radio Edit)
Defeat by Kahlil Gibran - Narrated by Dorna Djenab
Defeat, my Defeat, my solitude and my aloofness;
You are dearer to me than a thousand triumphs,
And sweeter to my heart than all world-glory.
Defeat, my Defeat, my self-knowledge and my defiance,
Through you I know that I am yet young and swift of foot
And not to be trapped by withering laurels.
And in you I have found aloneness
And the joy of being shunned and scorned.
Defeat, my Defeat, my shining sword and shield,
In your eyes I have read
That to be enthroned is to be enslaved,
And to be understood is to be leveled down,
And to be grasped is but to reach one’s fullness
And like a ripe fruit to fall and be consumed.
Defeat, my Defeat, my bold companion,
You shall hear my songs and my cries and my silences,
And none but you shall speak to me of the beating of wings,
And urging of seas,
And of mountains that burn in the night,
And you alone shall climb my steep and rocky soul.
Defeat, my Defeat, my deathless courage,
You and I shall laugh together with the storm,
And together we shall dig graves for all that die in us,
And we shall stand in the sun with a will,
And we shall be dangerous.

Poem - From Fear to Love
zhlédnutí 464Před 3 lety
I wrote this poem following a conversation I had which invoked fear, fear of the unknown. Fear that anything could happen at anytime to anyone! This is how I channeled the emotion... From Fear to Love... No matter what our circumstances, fear is part of the human experience. So often it is asking us to control what is beyond our control. Maybe, we can sometimes listen to another master that can...
Gertrude B. McClain - New Beginnings

I feel that these words, at a time where so many may need to reinvent themselves and make changes, to be very poignant. "It's only the beginning now, so dreams can still come true". New Beginnings by Gertrude B. McClain It's only the beginning now ...a pathway yet unknown, At times the sound of other steps ...sometimes we walk alone. The best beginnings of our lives May sometimes end in sorrow,...

Poem - Your Invisible Crown

You can now support my work here: www.buymeacoffee.com/dorna I wrote this poem after attending a day workshop at Dramatic Resources. It was all about building the confidence to stand out and share what it is we want to share. The teacher said, when you stand in front of an audience, make sure you wear your crown. This has so many meanings for me. One is to do with posture, holding ourselves hig...

Poem - Footsteps in the Sand
zhlédnutí 1,5KPřed 3 lety
One night I dreamed a dream. As I was walking along the beach with my Lord. Across the dark sky flashed scenes from my life. For each scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand, One belonging to me and one to my Lord. After the last scene of my life flashed before me, I looked back at the footprints in the sand. I noticed that at many times along the path of my life, especially at the ...
Poem - Being Positive?
zhlédnutí 450Před 3 lety
I wrote this poem after a friend apologised for crying a few months after a parent died. It raised alarm bells when she told me she doesn't want to be complaining and pushing everyone away with her sadness and 'negativity'. I had also seen in the past how 'being positive' made people blind to others' pain, giving them the attitude of 'I don't want to know'. There are those who complain all the ...
Poem - I am here!

You can now support my work here: www.buymeacoffee.com/dorna I wrote this poem, inspired by those time when my own seeking for bliss, spiritual clarity or even plain relaxation kept me entangled in my ego consciousness. The seeking which is 'the key', could both lock and unlock the door to true perception. If the seeking goes to the past, seeking 'it' there, we get entangled. When the seeking i...
Beyond Guilt Poem - The Myth of a Nice Guy

I wrote this poem following the sad news of a young man committing suicide. In his suicide note, he mentioned that he had been a cheat, a liar, a fraud... He said he really tried being a nice guy but failed... He is not here for me to tell him: Being a nice guy is a myth We all make mistakes and it is the pain of their consequences that eventually teach us 'the art of living'. I hope these word...
Poem - Keep Going - You've made it this far
zhlédnutí 525Před 3 lety
I wrote this poem after hearing the journey my beautiful friend took to climb and reach the summit in Kilimanjaro. It was a spiritual journey, there was beauty, there was despair, there was hope, joy, growth... and so much seemed to have melted away as she got closer and closer to herself. As I listened, I heard just how much of what she was saying was relevant to daily life. I also saw just ho...

What a beautiful reading! I love your gentle, peaceful tones and the way you take your time with the poem...and the music is a perfect accompaniment 🙏🙏
why do you say it is wrongly attributed to kahlil gibran?? and who is Osho??
I love this bonding time. What I have learned in my 42 years of parenting is our children are borrowed. Letting go of them, will happen at multiple times in their lives and ours. We will release them many times. Your daughter is so beautiful and will have so much self knowledge. If and when she chooses a mate that person will receive her because of the borrowed time that you prepared her in.
thank you, much needed
