Polaris General Clutch Replacement - Duraclutch Installation [CVT transmission]
linktr.ee/northwoodsfamily
A little over 5,000 miles of HARD riding, carrying heavy loads, up and down mountains, and our clutch finally failed. So we picked up a Duraclutch kit from Rocky Mountain ATV/MC and installed it on our Polaris General.
It should have been an easy installation - but of course, we ran into one snag. So you'll see how to adjust your clutch cover too.
So far, we really like the new Duraclutch. It's a lot smoother than our factory clutch. More info in the video!
Disclosure: We received a small discount from RMATV/MC on the Duraclutch kit. Duraclutch did not provide any discounts or incentives for us. We read it was a good product and we're going to give you the honest review on it once we have some miles on it. On the first few rides, we're happy with it!

    Hey, I had some other questions that maybe you could answer before I got it. It seems like I only found you as one review but not many others. I looked on Amazon and it didn’t get more than four stars for the unit over 210 people, but I do have some other questions if you wouldn’t mind answering them, helping me whether or not this is good for me or not my biggest issue was and address that was being able to make waypoint along the way and hold the locations where you were so later on if you go down that trail system again also, if there’s anybody else on here that has any comments, I’d like to share who has been using this GPS for a while for ATV’s much appreciated. Specially when they purchase like this.

    Yeah - when it comes to updating connections for charging or communication Garmin is the slowest tech company I know of. Very annoying from an inventory and device management standpoint, especially if you are also integrating charging solutions for off roadd environments. They also tend to have very poor user interface (poor logic and inefficient paths) and they apparently don't care about feedback on these issues from their customers but the reason to buy Garmin products is because in my opinion, across their product suite that I use, their products have the best hardware and best overall functionality. My experience is with basic Garmin GPS units since ...close to when they first came out...maybe 30 years ago? , RINO radios since 2011, various cycling devices, watches (I LOVE my Enduro watch), automotive GPS devices, inReach's, and probably more. So my exposure to their products is fairly broad. Great hardware, great devices, ver good customer service, poor user interface, and apparently an unwillingness to take feedback from consumers...That is the Garmin mantra.

    • @TheNorthwoodsFamily
      @TheNorthwoodsFamily Před 20 dny

    This setup provides no mechanical advantage you might as well be pulling directly off the tree. Pulley must be attached to the load (utv). Prove it yourself try pulling your vehicle across the yard by hand both ways and you’ll see the difference! Self winching you’d need two pulley to make a difference

    • @TheNorthwoodsFamily

I am wanting to get back into camping to get my kiddo into the outdoors & to get to dark skies as I am into astronomy. Though plan on doing car camping. Currently waffleing between the 9p rainfly instant version and a 10p instant w/ canopy at Costco. Don't know if we would be as hard core as you guys as rain isn't compatible with clear skies, though the rain fly might be better for just in case. How is the ventilation vs. your old 10p?

    • @TheNorthwoodsFamily
      @TheNorthwoodsFamily Před 20 dny

      Sorry for the slow reply. Ventilation is still excellent - comparable when you roll up the doors on the fly. If you’re not overly concerned with rain, we did really like our 9p instant too.

      Thanks! Yeah I have a couple I want to put out, we’ve just had to focus on some other life aspects for a while… not sure when our next trip will be. Duraclutch is working great. Actually was just using the General around the property to plant some food plots, lots of starting and stopping - really smooth, but we haven’t put a ton of miles on it so far.

    Awesome video! Although the Uintas are very beautiful. You should have Sean the 40 years ago. I grew up in Kamas, hunted, hicked, and snowmobiled these mountains all my life. It's sad to see all the dead pines from the beatle kill. I wish I could be around to see it come back.

      I believe it! That seems to be almost every NF these days - you get to some spots and it’s just miles of hillsides full of dead trees. Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for stopping by! 🙏🏼

      LOL. Everyone thinks we’re so brand loyal. The machine does fine for what we need it to. Lots of good machines out there

    Hi TNF: Would it be possible for you to take a video of the underside of the trailer and show it? Or just describe it? I'm planning to start making trailers like that and was wondering about the construction. Seems like the axels are mounted directly to the main deck frame (I'm guessing this is to make it sit lower) but there is no extra bracing where the axels are tied to the deck frame? If that were a single axle trailer it would be a massive weak spot for material fatique - but since you have 2 axels I guess it won't be as critical? Would appreciate an answer from you or others that know how the trailer is braced / stiffened under the deck?

      Belt was fine, but it did slip. Hauling a lot of weight up that mountain I suppose. I replaced our Ranger’s belt after 11 years… and it was still perfect 🤷‍♂️
