my deafness isn't a handicap it is a challenge for "others", not me. I've learned to adapt and overcome, which only made me a stronger person.

I am happy to see this beautiful video, taking asl has helped me understand deaf people more and learning to sign to communicate is fun. My teacher opened my eyes to the language now it's my favorite class and I'm glad to learn sign and see this beautiful video. I respect Deaf people even more now than i did before and I'm glad

I am not deaf, but I had a deaf teacher that taught ASL in my high school. After befriending her and immersing myself in the their culture I had a new-found respect for the deaf community. They can do anything they want and them not being able to hear never effects them if they don't want it to. I hope to be able to take more classes one day and able to be so fluent that it would be like second nature to me. :)

Mr. Halo, I don't know where you get your information, but neither Roosevelt nor Alexander Graham Bell were deaf. In fact, Bell was extremely audist and believed that deaf people should not marry each other and have deaf children (although his mother and wife were deaf). Had he been born deaf, I am sure that his attitude would have been very different. Don't get me wrong--I am a huge supporter of Deaf Pride. Just make sure to check your sources.

My ASL class is doing this song as a requirement for Deaf Awareness. I'm pretty excited. ASL is a wonderful and beautiful language, and I believe that more people should be involved with it's wonderful and powerful feeling and move it has on you. ASL has impacted me in ways I never thought possible. <3

Hi Roni, I agree with you, my daughter was born deaf, she doesn't like to wear her hearing aides either. Recently she said: "Mommy, I am normal because I am Deaf." My response was sweetie you are Right. Now that she's 6 yr old, I realize that she's coming into her own identitied. Deafness is her normal. At that very moment I've decided to get my B.A. in ASL Interpreter. This is the best moved I've could have ever my for my daughter and my family..
