50% of what ? , there's no clear pricing on their website
Hi Alex, the licensing depends on how many vm's you need backed up and what features you need i.e. just backup or you also require CDP for DR. If you go here and fill in your requirements they'll be able to provide a quote -> www.vinchin.com/how-to-buy.html What ever the quote comes back as, you'll get 50% off that for 3 months
Thank you sir for this excellent work.

Go SysAid team! ❤
Thanks for your comment Doritoren :)
Great session. I have one query regarding file-based backups and restores for vCenters on Enhanced Linked mode. Somehow VMware/Broadcom articles do not give much info on this. Any thoughts?
Hi there, thanks for your comment, what's the query you have, as in how to do it in an Enhanced Linked mode setup ?
@@sysadmintutorials that’s correct. I am not finding a reliable article from VMware/Broadcom/or any third parties. Any thoughts? I know in a snapshot scenario, we could take offline snapshots all at same time to cover linked mode. However, I am not sure the same is applicable if we schedule file backups all at same time.
If you have a broken enhanced Link Mode, how do you repair?
Hi Stephen, thanks for your comment, what's the error messages and do you see any indicators in the vcenter logs ?
Ping monitoring a host updating... whew! We use iDRAC.
iDRAC is a great option to if you wish to see the whole update process on console.
Thank you for your KT bro💥
Thanks RamJ
awesome, very detail and funny. it helps many people get out of confusion when searching by Google. Tks!
Thank you for your kind words, and I'm happy you easily found my video in Google :)
But who is covering our license fees?
From what I know, the license changes favors the big players, because the new vcf suite includes almost everything. As opposed to before they had to pay extra for additional products based on a tiering system and points per vram. For this top tier they could actually see a reduction in price. I have seen a few articles floating around about court cases within the EU against Broadcom due to these license changes, so will be interesting to see what comes of that.
@@sysadmintutorials Thanks for an informed response man! I appreciate it I had not heard about the possible EU court actions but I could see that happen.
hey Sysadmin, Great video. Did you post any video showing, how we can get coloured the output for 'Overall Status' based on the value. Is it something to be achieved using "Out-conditionalFormating" cmdlet ? Waiting for your reply.
i have trouble when instalation at welcome to exsi its frezee something like that or stuck and i can't do any ?
Hi, you'll probably need to check if you system is compatible with the release of esxi you are intending to go to You can check here -> www.vmware.com/resources/compatibility/search.php
a great video !! so it is mean i need to upgrade the vcenter from 6.7 to vcentre 7.x first and then upgrade those esxi host from 6.7 to 7.x? thanks !!
Yes that is correct, vcenter first followed by esxi hosts
@@sysadmintutorials thank you !!
Great video, just about to do this, what is the offline bundle? I'm installing on a disconnected network so not internet connected directly.
Thank you, offline bundle you can download from vmware.com, once you have the image you can transfer it across to your other network with usb
I have some errors when check compliance show information incompatible
Hi, can you list the incompatible info please ?
excellent where I can find scrypt? is possible to automate stand alone host as well?
Thank you, link to the script is mentioned at the end of the video :) Yes also possible to do a stand alone host after setting IP.
You saved my day , Thank you
awesome, you're welcome :)
Can you use the same host name for the upgraded vcenter? We're looking to upgrade our vcenter 6.7U3 to 7.0.3
Hi Steve, yes it will keep same ip and same hostname
Cant find the script.
Hi, you'll have to watch till the end of the video :)
Have the fresh restores VCSA got new Machine Certificates or has it got the one from de backed up VCSA??

Hola Jorge, thank you for your nice comment. I'm glad my content was able to help you. Have a Merry Christmas :)
Is there a way to find out what deployment size our existing vcsa (6.7) is configured?
Hi there, yes you can check your existing vcpu and ram allocation on the VM and then compare it to this table: magander.se/vmware-vcenter-server-6-7-resource-requirements/
May I ask something, but if you enter 127.0.0.1 for DNS then you no longer have internet including the server why 127.0.0.1 is used
Hi, 127.0.0.1 just means localhost, so refer to itself for dns. It's the same as entering the IP address used on the host. It then talks to the DNS server and either uses the forwarders (if you have them setup) or uses the root hint servers that are there by default.
@@sysadmintutorials I'm going to active dorectory so bin static should give for dns 127.0.0.1 why
Hi, sorry what do you mean by "so bin static should give for dns" ?
Hey Mate, Was preparing for my interviews saw your Vcenter upgrade, Host upgrade later came to your playlist and now in this ESXI configuration upgrade. your videos are soo cool, most of vmware tutorials in CZcams will be in complicated manner you make people understand in clear way keep up the good works I wish for more subscribers coming to your channel 🙇♂

Can I use this to run two operating system and divide the resources like half ram cpu and graphics cards and switch between operating systems. For instance I have t7910 it has two e5 2660 v4 14 core, 112 gb ram, two titan xp, I want two divide everything and game on half while the other runs a complex video edit of some sort
Hi there, what you can do is build out your vsphere environment (vcenter and esxi host, vcenter sits inside esxi as a vm), then create your 2 vm's for gaming and editing.
@@sysadmintutorials I read some where of 8 VM cores max per vm is that true?
Hi Jong, no that's incorrect. It's much more than that. Depending on the version of vsphere here are the configuration maximums - configmax.esp.vmware.com/home for example for vsphere 7 and 8 it's 768 vcpu's per vm
@@sysadmintutorials can I run this all on one system or do I have to connect to it with separate pc
you would connect to it from another system. One example would be you have a windows vm running with RDP enabled, then from a laptop you would rdp to the vm. To be honest I wouldn't use this setup for gaming unless it's basic games. Complex video edit that you mentioned originally also requires some hefty ram and gpu.
Should I turn off all virtual machines on the host before entering Maintenance Mode?
Hi RomanyBibawy, no you don't need to, that's the beauty of DRS it can move your vm's live without any downtime :)
Thank you for your video it very good
Thanks for the feedback, glad you enjoyed it :)
thanks you made it really easy
You're welcome!
Nice
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it
Employers work the shit outta you and then are shocked that you don’t have monitoring setup perfectly
Hi Scriptmaster, if you find yourself in that scenario, I would recommend dedicating some additional time to ensure you have a robust monitoring system in place. While it may not be ideal to invest extra hours after your regular workday, it will yield significant benefits in the future
Great video! and you explained it pretty clearly as well. Thanks a lot! I haven't really researched but I am assuming that the steps are going to be the same on 7.0 U3 as well.
Hello, just going through your videos really amazing. I really like to know how to colour the status and also and send the report via email please. Thanks in advance 😊
Thank you Cutlas, I'm finishing up another video this week which will be posted soon on server monitoring, I will add this to my list to ensure a video comes out with those additions for you :)
@@sysadmintutorials Thank you so much for your response !! 😀 I am. Waiting boss.
In stage 1, step 11 - configure network settings I'm not getting the FQDN and IP auto populating. This means I can only restore to another IP and hostname, but I want to restore the VCSA host without changing these settings.
Hi there, in stage 1, step 4 do you see the FQDN there ?
Nicely explained about backup and restore. Could you please some link about storage and network configuration. Thank you so much wonderful content
Hi there thanks for your comment. What would you like to know about storage and network config ?
Sooooooo nicely explained. Thanks

How to hostd, vpxa logs sharing to my manager?
Hi there, sorry can you rephrase ? Which manager ?
@@sysadmintutorials actually I want need to share the logs with another person but how. So how to download hosts, vpxa logs?
You can download a log bundle from vcenter, if you login to the vcenter management interface (<your vcenter ip>:5480) and select actions, create support bundle. Once the bundle has downloaded to your computer, unzip it with something like 7-zip and you'll have the logs there. Alternatively you can use WinSCP and connect to your vcenter IP, then browse to /storage/log and download the log files you need
You are good. Very nice video.
Thank you for the nice comment :)
I'm wondering its 12 Years old video Amazed on this !

In a case of a server with multiple hard drives can the hard drive where hypervisor type 1 esxi is installed, be used to create a datastore? Or in that case you should use other unused hard drives? Also can you use more than one hdd in order to create a bigger datastore? If i have multiple hard drives on the server, the raid shoulv be configured before installing the esxi or after?
Hi Almedogjurgji1446, what server are you using because there may be a few options available to you with multiple disks, raid types etc ?
@@sysadmintutorials hp proliant DL380 Gen10
Ok, you would create the raid volume before installing esxi, then you can place some vm's on the datastore. Is this a single server setup i.e. do you intend to use a cluster or multiple esxi hosts ?
@@sysadmintutorials it’s a unique physical server, one esxi host, 5-6 virtual machines on it. So can i install the esxi hypervisor and then the virtual machines (in general windows server 2016 machines) on the same datastore (raid volume) where is installed the esxi or do i need a separate raid volume (datastore) for the esxi and a separate one for the virtual machines (dedicated datastore)?
You can do either. Install esxi and use 1 big datastore for both esxi and vm's or you can create 2 volumes within your raid config so the first is used for esxi and 2nd is used for vm's. Is this a production server or a lab ?
script for 2nd DC would be great. great tutorials!

Just upgraded our 2 production machines, really appreciate the video!
Well done on the upgrade. I'm working on some vSphere 8 videos and I'll be including and upgrade guide from 7 to 8 as well.
What happens if my other esxi host can't host the rest of the VMs? I'm not able to put host 1 into maintenance mode now.
Hi ZoneVang, if that is the case you will need to shutdown some of your vm's until you have enough resources to place the host in maintenance mode.
I have created the script but when i paste the html in Chrome, the output is in html code, where in your demo, you have the GUI table. Is there something I have missed? Could I also have your email address for any further assistance or communication moving forward ?
Hi again Vincent, can you elaborate on what you mean by pasting the html in Chrome ? You should only need to double click the html file once and it will open in your browser.
@@sysadmintutorials hi My bad, syntax error I spelt my filename.hlmt instead of html. Fixed and thank you for replying.
