    The economy is only talked about like that cos confidence runs the markets, not the real worth. And i hate to think it but with all the usa does in the world i have to admit part of me wants trump to win. Nothing will make the usa fall faster, running the world with anti intellectualism has to stop, for all our sakes. Plus trump is such a wild card that, yes what he does will be terrible but much of his lack of tact shines a light on how bad things are. Everyone else would hide it better when they stab people in the back. Plus what he did to e gene carol and being still elected might just be the breaking point people need to actually care about such things and do something about it. Me Too did little, and i think mostly hurt people who did nothing. The kind of people who do what trump did don't care, he is a perfect example.

    Also! I think there's little to no aro-allo rep on media. Most of the aro characters are aroace (Lilith from toh, isaac, georgia warr from loveless, peridot from S.U., alastor from H.H.). And I think it's great for aroace ppl to have representation, bcs that's obviously fucking cool, but I feel media doesn't really treat aromanticism as its own concept. Plus, there are lots of expierence of aro-allo ppl that just go unheard. I fet it on kids shows as you can't rlly represent the sexual aspect of something, but it would be good for adult shows, that already deal sm with identity and sexuality, to try to give aro-allo rep a shot.

  • @Sargsoup

    I'm still questioning my romantic orientation, because I know I'm probably not alloromanric and certainly not just aro (as in, I'm probably somewhere in the arospec). At 4:15 , when you said "It really was the first time I felt like I was with someone who wasn't expecting things out of me that I couldn't give", I felt so heard. Like, I've always felt like a bad person for thinking that, or that maybe U was just a bad partner who couldn't commit because I "loved them" but being in a relationship with someone made me feel bad, fearful, and like it wasn't what I wanted. I feel validated knowing that there's someone out there who feels the same and it makes me feel it's okay. That last section of the video really helped me too. Thank you, really. Also, YES the aro community is so erased. Or reduced to stereotypes like the "robot who doesn't get feelings", or "the nerdy best friend who doesn't like people altogether". Like, those stereotypes can work sometimes (Isaac from heartstopper comes to my mind as a good example of the "introvert nerd" one) and interesting interpretations, but it also gets boring sometimes.

    I hear the word representation thrown around a lot these days. No disrespect but I find it rather annoying. Why do I want to watch a movie or play a video game that has a character that looks like me? Movies and video games are escapist entertainment. They allow us to be people we can never be and do things we can't do in real life. If I have a disability, I don't need a disabled superhero in order to enjoy the movie/game. I want to forget I have a disability and escape into a world in which I'm free from the burdens of the real world. Characters should not have to conform to my body type, skin color, or anything else about me. Yes, there is a beauty standard of perfection. People want to see good looking and attractive characters on screen. If I don't fit the beauty standard that does not mean I'm less of a person. I don't have to be sad or hate myself. I have two options. 1. Accept that I don't fit the beauty standard. 2. Take steps to improve my body/health. I should not try to change the beauty standard to include me and my imperfections. No one wants to see that on screen. If I don't have the required skills for a job, I can't make the employer hire me. I can't get mad that only people with the required skills are getting hired. The same goes for Hollywood. Actors and actresses with the best physical appearance get the best roles. It is what it is. If we want those jobs, we need to work on ourselves to get them and not try to bring the job requirements down to our level. I hope this makes sense.

    • @auntieelaine
      @auntieelaine Před 24 dny

      I think what you're missing is that it's not about not being able to enjoy characters that aren't like you, but about rarely, or never, seeing people who are like you in your media. It's about society's media presenting an overwhelmingly white, male, thin, able-bodied, straight characters when that doesn't reflect the overall population.

    I worked in the fitness industry for some time as a personal trainer and it still infuriates me to this day that some people even try to shame people in the progress of trying to loose weight because it's funny when non fit people are working out somehow? If someone is overweight but doesn't struggle with any related health issues and otherwise feels comfortable in their body, who are we to judge them for their choice? And even if it comes down to certain health complications it shouldn't result in any form of shame, maybe further encouragement but nothing else. There are so many different and complex layers why people gain or can't loose weight and strangers on the internet most definitely don't have the full picture in many instances and even if they mean well it doesn't work as a blueprint for all people. Hope you get out of your current low phase soon, stay strong.

  • @mia1191
    @mia1191 Před 28 dny

    For the most part lifestyle habits over a long enough period of time lead to someone weight. Even if you don’t realize it it’s possible to overeat to the point of weight gain or under eat to weight loss. I would agree that weight isn’t a complete indicator of health but body fat percentage is a better mark of risk factor related to obesity. Also it’s definitely possible to lose weight and keep it off if you actually live a healthier lifestyle. You can’t go back to your daily monthly habits after weight loss and expect to not gain weight again. In the same way one slice of cake or pizza doesn’t stop you from losing weight. Hell junkorexic are anorexic that mostly eat junk food because they eat low enough calories/ exercise enough to lead to weight loss. The same can said for some bodybuilders. The bodybuilding sport is based on humans ability to modify their bodies. Although bodybuilding mostly developed in the early 19th century. Men talk about women bodies and actions because of their sex. Could be too big or too small or modesty dressed or revealing clothing.

    Shame is a useful tool in adjusting a persons actions. As a woman, yes, you make your own decisions. Yes, you choose to live a certain lifestyle. Being cognisant of health and fitness does not mean you are actually making the appropriate decisions. Consistency is key. If you actually cut down to vegetables and proteins and moved regularly and didn't lose weight, cash your check. You are a medical anomaly.

    so... you found out what made you loose weight during chemo. which would be not eating as much. and then you stopped doing that and gained the weight back... thats surprising to who? you could eat nothing but pure green salad with no sauce or anything all day and still become fat if you eat enough of it. stop making excuses. also whenever you talk about what you did to try to become thin you are never actually specific about what you did. oh you hiked seven days a week? what constitutes as hiking? just as an example. a five minute walk about the block is not hiking. and even then just walking around isnt really what I'd call exercise. and you're also not specific about the food and more importantly about the amount of food you ate. its just "oh I ate health" and "I watched what I ate". nobody should get angry that you "chose" to be fat. people should and probably are angry that you open that option at all. you dont choose to be fat. being fat has its reasons and it can be changed. you only choose to give up on trying to become healthy. omg the shit about "the world is not made to fit us". NO FUCKING WONDER. you are not the norm. you shouldn't be the norm. your body is not healthy, so it shouldnt be encouraged to be fat. yes there are things you actively promote. like right now. where you are promoting that people shouldnt even try to stop being fat EVEN THOUGH YOU MANAGED TO IT ONCE. granted only with help of chemo but that shouldve given you a fucking clue. dont eat as much and dont get as fat. its not hard at all to be a woman online. its the internet. as long as you dont show yourself nobody ever has to find out what you are. and why are you complaining about things being politicized? if you dont want stuff like LGBTQ for example to be political then... idk... have you considered to stop crying to politicians? its constantly made into a political subject because people like you would rather demand that everyone else be forced to change by law than to just not be fat. and yes I do hate the word cis. I am not cis. I am just straight. and being gay doenst need some label either. its just gay. I am not cis. it might as well be a slur at this point. there is benefit to variety in society yes. but there is no benefit to fat people existing. they are in every conceivable way worse than a fit person. unless its like hardcore powerlifting or smth but then there mostly muscle and not fat. stop comparing fat people to here for example autistic people. you can stop being fat. you cant stop being autistic. just dont be so god damn lazy and you wont be fat. the fitness industry didnt brainwash me into thinking its easy. I am incredibly skinny and I've looked up a few videos on how to get some muscles on to stop looking like a stick figure and literally every single one seems like A LOT of work. the problem is that loosing fat is way easier than gaining muscle. idk where I've seen it but somebody made a self experiment and cardio (which doesnt build a lot of muscle) burns a shit ton of calories and cardio is incredibly fucking easy. if your doctor is telling you that your weight is ok then change doctors. you personally are visibly obese or at least very overweight. and not the powerlifter kind of overweight but just fat. go hop on a bike or a treadmill or smth. tell me how a fat person could ever be better in any of those categories you listed than a fit person. please. anything. why arent all the olympic athletes fat if it doesnt matter? now I dont go to the gym cuz social anxiety and its too far away to be viable but I have NEVER heard of a story where a fat person gets made fun of for going to the gym. I have only ever heard of the absolute best stories about fat people going to the gym. cuz everyone goes to the gym for the same reason. to self improve. unless you're talking about people on the internet in which case... you dont have an argument cuz everyone makes fun of everyone on the internet. thats just how it is, you're not special. all in all. DO NOT "JUST BE YOURSELF". unless you wanna die early because of a myriad of health problems caused by being fat. it is no surprise that most famous fat activists mysteriously died before the age of 50... and I cannot believe that I wasted my time here. a fat woman talking about how being fat is ok and its everyone elses fault...

And so the movie is a satire about men disguised as women competing in a women's basketball league. And no, the WNBA is not thriving. It is subsidized by the men's NBA. Even women don't attend or watch. The women's soccer team with Rapinoe was widely criticized for their anti American rhetoric and were not rooted for by many. We care in the sense that the whole point of establishing women's sports is that they can play their own games and not have to compete against men to whom they will lose. You might have been referring to Caster Semenya. If you were, you should do more research on his case. Caster, a misogynist male, claims to be a woman with high testosterone. Hardly. Caster Semenya discovered conclusively that he was male. Again, Caster discovered, with evidence, that he is male. He has a male reproductive structure. He has a genetic variation that resulted in doctors mistakenly thinking he had a vagina but he did not have a vagina. He has no womb. He has no ovaries. He has no female reproductive structure. He has testes. He has 5a-reductase-2, a condition that only affects males. (The testerone issue really is irrelevant to a discussion of whether he is male.) And, despite this discovery and all of this evidence, he has decided to constantly lie about the evidence and promote misogyny and abuse towards female athletes. I feel compassion for him since he was misdiagnosed as a baby, but he has been completely inappropriate and immature. He should accept himself for the man he is and promote more awareness of differences in sexual development and all the challenges for that community. Instead, he is a powerful voice for denial and not accepting one's self for who one is. Caster Semenya is not trans. Caster is not a female. Caster is a man. Caster is male. Do some research.

    Finding the aego-definition was a really big aha moment for me. I never thought of myself as potentially asexual until finding that one. I find it's the only definite asexual label I want to use for myself, if I want to keep it vague (since referring to myself as aego does inherently reveal a lot more of my sexuality than a lot of other labels would) then I can say ace-spec. It took me longer to consider I was aro-spec as well, there I will use two labels; greyromantic and aego as I feel they combined do a better job of describing my experience than either do on their own.

    Your point about sincerity is a big part whats lost in many mid- or especially high Subscriber Count channels these days. I rarely enjoy opinions from the "big voices" in the gaming space for example. Most of the times it comes off as chasing a certain clout or feeding the pattern what gets the views. I mean sure, CZcams for fulltime creators is a job with staff to pay etc. but something can get lost - not always but it sure does sometimes in my eye. Looking at smaller channels with more creative freedom because there isn't so much pressure in just doing well with every video feels more authentic and passionate - I guess a certain spark is there? Looking for smaller creators in the gaming or music space for example brought me quite a few interesting insights in much more niche content which I've otherwise probably never have found otherwise. When it comes to more sensitive and important topics like culture, identity, rights and recognition for marginalised groups and so on, it feels way more insightful if it's the experience and view from a person which is part of these communities or movements without the need to also keep a big part of their viewer base for lack of a better word "happy" and thats very valuable in my eyes. Sure big creators are important for broader reach, especially for LGBTQ+ topics to get more voices and opinions out there in the general discourse but sometimes it feels just as relevant to hear the smaller voices with their personal stories and their view on day to day life and the reality for them out there. I think it's very important to hear the personal experience and sadly, also the struggle people go through and are willing to share to also get a better understanding of the whole topic or bigger picture if you will, like LGBTQ+ rights and why it is so important beyond some big Twitter discussion etc. There's way more to it than just an opinion piece on some big news site or a new video essay (which as mentioned above is also important) from known creators which in return some idiotic Anti Woke Grifter leeches outrage views from, it's an issue and reality for real people out there, and there shouldn't be any more struggle to hear than from anybody else, but as long as we are not there yet, these sincere voices and their shared views and feelings matter so much when it comes to culture and identity and are very important in my opinion.

      I definitely think that there's something really informative about hearing from people who are part of marginalized communities without any sort of editorial filter

      A great example for myself is your video on disability and depowerement. I guess it would never crossed my mind if it wasn't for your insight and your experience how much worse a already absolutely horrible situation can be if it comes with the cost of denying yourself to basically survive. Also I hope your ear gets better soon, last I've checked the ability to see is kinda nice to have! :P

    Forgot for a second that CZcams Filters don't like naming the last pandemic by name nor any Links to other videos on the platform. Guess the last comment must be under rewview as a result. Dunno if thats something you have researched yourself at this point (I guess it's likely you have, it's linked to CFS in most cases) but if not, it might be worth looking into Fibromyalgia. I don't know how the US healthcare system handles the diagnosis in terms of disability, but if there's a slim chance, I guess it could be worth it. The real problem lies within the fact that many Doctors don't know or sometimes don't even recognize the desease (yet). Plays into the whole neglected field of medicine and research for women because it affects females about tenfold if I remember correctly. So yeah... finding a doctor who's knowledgeable in the field can be real difficult at this point in time.

      My rheumatologist seems to think it's not fibromyalgia, but we still don't know for sure

      That whole not sure part is just beyond frustrating with the lack of long term data in this field and the fact that to my understanding Fibromyalgia can be wildely different from patient to patient. More so in the potential treatment of it's symptoms, what ease the pain and fatigue for some may make it far worse for others. Combined with a learning experience that many Doctors go along with it's patient... just frustrating. I hope you can get any diagnosis soon which at least puts the whole disability recognition behind you.

    I know this video is nearly a year old but hearing about your medical situation here and in your "I am Disabled and that's okay" video reminds me of the condition my girlfriend has for many years now. She went from an really active sports loving and general outdoor person to nearly bedridden on some days and in pain or with very low energy on her "better" days in a very short timeframe. So far there hasn't been any exact or even one specific accurate diagnosis from any Doctor. In fact it's mostly guess work around a few "new" illnesses which only began to show up on the clinical map a few years ago. Before then it was mostly brushed aside under psychological disorders or to high of a stress level which may caused the physical symptoms and problems. Putting in another way: don't work yourself up so much and try to get out more, your imagination makes you sick for the most part. Which luckily is beginning to change, at least in some reputable clinical circles here in Germany. What I'm trying to say is that I can to some degree relate how truely awful this whole situation must be for you and how frustrating it can be to get no real answers from professionals in the healthcare system or in the worst case don't be taken seriously in the first place. So if you ever wanna talk or need to talk about any of it or share the experiences with someone who's close with a person in a similar debilitating situation, here is a complete stranger from nearly the other side of the world who thinks has a fairly good idea what you're going through... kinda at least. :) Anyway, stay strong and I'm looking forward to new videos from you! PS: my english is a bit rusty these days, sorry about that :D

    It's very interesting hearing the perspective of someone who's aegoromantic in terms of romantic fictional content, especially literature. As a heterosexual male I can't fully grasp the concept of not developing romantic feelings in general but I guess there's a point in regards of a connection to another person where it doesn't really matter all that much or in fact at all if the kinship is in any way romantic or not. Personally I would consider my girlfriend also my best friend and the person I trust the most in life and if I'm being honest these feelings wouldn't really change all that much if she wasn't also my romantic partner I would assume. Especially not after all this time together and going through the ups and downs in life as friends or partners, whatever you wanna call it. The point I'm trying to make is that it is far more interesting and valuable to get to know another person on such a deep level of trust and understanding that both sides are comfortable enough to be at their most vulnerable and without the need to worry about any guards or masks to shield ourself from fear of being harmed. In terms of fiction it is the same way in my opinion. Seeing or witnessing the development of any relationship that goes beyond these barriers which normally would be there to guard us is something thats really special and rare and hopefully also something that most of us can at least appreciate to some degree no matter the romantic or sexual outcome. Seeing these kind of bonds forged in fiction through hardship, adventure or overcoming any other nigh impossible odds can be very comforting, even if we take for example a simple written romantic relationship a few steps further in our imagination and apply it to what we would value ourself the most in such a connection with "someone special".

    Stumbled across your Channel / Videos in the whole James Somerton affair by accident. Your situation reminds me of a friend of mine who's nearly bed ridden with ME/CFS which got worse since Covid. Seeing you in good spirits and with your sweet pets keeping you company is great to see and your room looks nice and comfy aswell. Gonna subscribe and catch up on more content from you 'cause some of your takes so far seem very interesting and insightful. Hope you're doing well and I'm looking forward to more content from you! Greetings from Germany (feels like a cliché to say, because for some odd reason my fellow germans like to mention the fact where they're from on nearly every occasion they seem to get online... at least it feels like that sometimes ^^) Anyway, cheers!

    I got really into PSA around 2016 and lost interest a couple years later as my politics and values shifted further and further left. Now as a rule I tend to stay away from podcasts led primarily by white cis-het men. In addition to the issues you mentioned, there have been some shake-ups within the media company they have created over the years that usually end up scapegoating marginalized people and perpetuating the status quo. I now find their takes centrist and bland.

    What an excellent video. Thank you so much for making this. You're so right. The attacks we see towards people today are so personal and go beyond what the true feedback should be. I'm not a fan of Mr. Scott, but I agree with you. People shouldn't go to these low points because it is unnecessarily hurtful and it does ultimately affect everyone. Society can do better.

    I'm unsure of your disability but heterosexuals experience the exact same things in regard to family liking/not liking romantic choices by their children. You sound pretty self absorbed and selfish and entitled as well expecting others to care for and support you including involving yourself in a relationship specifically to satisfy your own needs. I don't mean to sound harsh but there's a problem here and I doubt it's the fact you're queer. You obviously crave attention but self love and respect are required first so possibly see someone for your personal struggles.
