Thanks for this I really enjoyed it! 🙂 I was at the national maritime museum today and they had a display asking for contributions of what information and how we want to discuss the subject of transatlantic enslavement. We're definitely on a journey we just need to keep the momentum going!
I'm sure I would have liked this, but I can only make out a word here and there.
Such a good walk-through and explanation. Colin Wiggins is always knowledgeable, and a great guide. I did find the transcript here helpful because of the noise in the background (and my own hearing loss), so thank you for that. I did not see get to this installation; I am glad I was able to view it here and especially with Wiggins’s explication. Thank you again.

Something like the way the Gurkha's use the Kukri as a symbol the British Commandos use the WWll Dagger.

This poem made me nerd out when I studied it in secondary school. I came to conclusion that the Robin in the poem was Tim Drake (or Jason Todd before being killed by the Joker).
How do you find the rest of the story?

Nothing, that Curator John Taylor says about the meaning of the Papyrus of Ani is correct.
Lovey description of a work by a very underrated and talented British painter. And may I say that it’s a shame Grimshaw is not more recognised and celebrated. Luckily Whistler, one of his more famous contemporaries, recognised his mastery of lighting and technique, stating “I considered myself the inventor of nocturnes until I saw Grimmy’s moonlit pictures.” His work always gives me a sense of not just time and space, but also a sense of self in the calmness, the simplicity of the night. He allows us to see the hidden and forgotten beauty that remain unnoticed during the day.
I think I went to school with this guy, he was always very clever!
I wish there was more discussion about this poem online. I think it's so beautiful.

NYEHNEHNEHNEHNEHNEH
Yes my donny!
my point of view in all that is to create an internal perspective and to face it or replace the old external perspective by this internal perspective.the people will judge it not us. the only Art of people is a "revolution",a group hysteria as Freud used to call that.
Moeilijk hè, Ad?
Loveliest ,soul-soothing works from wonderful ,bygone times...
Good poet, good poem, but bland as water reading. Such a voice to this song lost in his shy monotone. Shame.
Mediocre inconsequential pap rap.
Pretentious, pipe-smoking philistine
Wow, two years ago I almost liked Armitage. Not no more. Try his recent 'Cinderella of Ferndale'. If you don't recognise it is for the dung-pile it is, there's no hope. Don't let your limp-wristed GCSE teacher foist these limp-minded mumblers on you. There's better stuff out there.
I'll have a listen, not sure I subscribe to the school of elitism that dismisses poets for their popularity. I got into Armitage at GCSE level but his style and flair inspired me through studying English at uni and beyond. The fact that poems like this and November still have such a clear image in my mind is testament to his talent in my view.
Mass-appeal means nothing, positively or negatively. What he is is well-known, recognisable. BBC: 'To some he's the modern, accessible and unstuffy face of poetry'. Betjemen too, whose Collecteds now line the shelves of every charity shop in the midlands. A post-death Amitage will be as enthusiastically discarded. Honour of a sort...
Thanks for this, awesome video. x
