Is this on the schedule for 2024 also? I've got an xr650l I'd love to run on it. Nice video.
Yes it is and from what I heard the Ranch it’s on let them add more milage to the loop. It’s on September 7th and 8th the adult race being in the 8th. I would recommend following the WORRA (Wyoming Off-Road Race Association) Facebook page to keep in the loop on any updates or changes they do a good job of getting info out.
I don’t know where you have your camera mounted, but all I’m seeing is handlebars
It’s Chest Mount and I don’t think I had the screw tight enough. I would rather run helmet mount like I do for our local races, but the AMA put a rule out last year banning helmet mounted devices from use in AMA Sanctioned events.
I didn’t realize they had added that rule.
www.armca.org/news/2021/1/21/clarification-on-ama-rule-change-regarding-helmet-attachments I get it, but chest mount is no where near as good of footage as the chin.
Looks like some tight stuff?
Yeah I really struggled to be fast in it, but it was a blast to ride.
Things look a little wet!🤘
Just a little. The wet rocks kept it interesting!
What row were you on? - the trail still look ok. Got really bad later on -
I was on 24. it wasn't chewed up yet, but it was still pretty greasy. The rain started when we were in test 3. Some of the ruts I saw starting to get bad in the later tests, I was sure would be gnarly by the time even 50's were coming through
@@hookedonenduro I know your right ! I was one of the guys that swept Test 1
Thank you for working the race!
I was row 69... pretty rough. Really felt bad for rows 100 or so.
Yikes I can’t imagine how nasty some of those sections would be at the back of the pack.
Keep it going Jason🤘
Thanks!
I would love to race this course. Good video
Thanks! They are having it again this year on September 8th. From what I hear they are going to be adding some new areas to the course as well!
Nice Ride🤘
Thanks, I was fighting through a hamstring cramp most of Test 5. Not quite use to the heat yet this year and certainly not 92% humidity!
Nice video. What bike are you riding?
Thanks, I am riding on a 2024 Husqvarna TX300
You mean our years of mariokart practice didn't cut it??
lol not so much, the whoops and ruts in the tight trees felt pretty foreign.
I was rewatching your video and forgot about pickle juice. Drink as much kosher dill pickle juice as you can possibly get into you. It is the very best thing to keep cramps away, keep energy in your arm and leg muscles, and clears you head. I pack energy gels with me on track and eat a couple when my head or body really starts to break down. Have to keep the glucose levels up. Also, ear plugs will increase your energy level. You would be amazed how much energy the constant noise takes away.
There are companies that sell pickle juice in those little 5-hour energy type of containers and I always keep two of those in my pack for Enduros. I didn't really have hardly any issues with cramping in the 24 like I did when I did the 12hr in Colorado. I also got my electrolyte & calorie mix in my water more figured out before the 24hr. I am a huge fan of the gels, I have found great results with the Hammer gels. I was running a sound canceling Ear bud on one side switching back and forth (mostly to keep track of my heartrate, I'll have to try running it both next time to see what the difference is. I think my biggest problem was that I didn't do enough muscular endurance training on my upper body. My core and my legs were great the whole race. Thanks for the return viewing!
Fresh gear goes a long way when you ironman an endurance event. At the very minimum, socks, jersey, underpants every few hours is more than worth the time in the pit. If you have someone helping you they can even wash out the gear you took off and hang dry them for use again later. I'm 58 and I still do these ironman events. Eat every time you pit. Find 10 spots on course that remind you to drink from your pack every lap. Take energy gels like GU on track in your pack and eat a couple if your brain starts to wander. Lastly drink as much kosher dill pickle juice as you can take so keep the cramping away.
In our pit at this race we had a 60+ team my Dad was on one of the old guys introduced me to Pickle juice and what a difference it makes! I always keep some on me when racing now. I changed jerseys during the 24hr. and looking back I definitely would have benefited from a full change of gear at the 12hr mark. my body was pretty ragged at the end and fresh gear would have helped avoid a lot of it.
You drive is very good
Thank you!!
I grew up in those hills.
Not all are so lucky. That is one of my favorite areas.
What position did you get? Was it 50 miles? Your are pretty dang fast! what was your total run time?
Thanks, on day 1 I missed an arrow in a corner in another test and lost a lot of time. Between the time off course and with the mistake I made on the hill in this test I ended up in 10th in B30+. I don’t remember what the miles were, but it was 50-60. My time was around 121 minutes. I felt I rode well, but those two mistakes cost me a lot of time.
Good work! After 15 years of not racing I decided the GH24 was a good idea 😂 Lost a fuel pump on the 2nd lap. Fixed it and then broke three ribs on the fourth lap. It was everything in my soul to get to the finish.
Thats a tough break! Talk about jumping back in the deep end. I've ridden with cracked and dislocated ribs its mighty painful. the course was destroyed and rough as can be by the end. I feel for you!
IMPRESSIVE! in all caps! 👍👍👍 Nice edit job too. I’m racing Glen Helen at 62 yrs, see my channel “Low Buck Garage”
Awesome! I found your channel yesterday and just finished all the episodes. You did great! Just curious, how long was the recovery process to the point where you didn't hurt?
Thanks! I was saddle sore and my knees aches for a couple days. My finger tips where I pull the clutch were numb for about two weeks.
Congrats Jason! Absolutely awesome. Thanks for being an inspiration to us all!
Thank you! it was a great personal growth project!
I'm really glad I found your channel. I'm planning on the Glen Helen 6 hour next spring with my son, we'd be coming down from Alberta Canada. If it goes well, I'd consider returning for the 10 or 24. I'm not really in a position I need to lose much weight, maybe 15-20 lbs, but I'm 13 years older than you, so that really makes things slower and tougher. Your progress is so encouraging!
Thanks for watching! It was a great experience getting ready for and racing the 24hr. I'm sure you will do well with the 6hr. 6 is pretty reasonable. Father son racing is where it is at. I have been racing the last 10 years with my Dad and still do. it's the best part of our sport!
The first REAL, HONEST question you have to ask yourself is whether you are there to COMPETE or to PARTICIPATE. That one simple choice changes everything. I have done a few of the 6 hour events and at 57 yrs old I have to tell myself over and over that I am there to participate. I even write it on a piece of tape on my crossbar pad. It's hard to go slow at the start but it's all about conservation of energy. As an Ironman participant I would plan at least a couple of one hour naps to clear your head and absorb some nutrition. Good job man!
Thanks! I'm glad you're still out there getting after it! My Dad still races with me in his mid 60's and still goes fast. I ran a heart rate monitor and an ear bud to make sure I kept my heartrate in a range I knew I could sustain. You are right, it is very easy to let yourself start to push and that will your lower your odds of finishing quickly.
Your an inspiration. I've done an 8 hour Ironman and always wanted to do 24 hours. At 43 I'm running out of time. Lol
Thank you. You can do it! Pick one, train and go for it. I highly encourage doing a 12hr first. You will learn a lot at that length of time.
You are going rock it at Glen Helen! You have come so far!
Thank you! Ain't nothing to it, but to do it!
That was awesome !! Clean lines man!
Thanks!
Subbed! Thanks for posting!
Thank you!
Thanks for putting this up, this was by far the hardest stage for me, easily the the least traction I’ve ever had on a moto…
Thanks for watching! this section kicked my butt too. Saturday you had to earn every mile!
Thanks for posting this! I couldn't quite explain to anybody how muddy and tough that test was. I ran into a huge bottleneck of riders at the steep tree roots section (my GoPro screw came loose there too😆).
Thanks for watching! I was bummed that the bars pulled my camera down when I got off balance in the stream and missed filming the rock Garden before the root staircase. At least I got some of it!
Wow!! Rick's Mom
Thanks Ricks Mom!

Good intense one!
Good thing you had someone to help you out in the middle of nowhere! Mambo #5 for your play list 😁
Mambo #5! Lol I love it!

Nice!
You are an inspiration! Congrats!!!
Thank you for your support!
You did amazing! Keep it up!
Thank you!
Where are these trails at they're excellent.
It’s the Sandwash area just outside of Maybell CO, Near Craig CO. I have only raced there a couple of times, but there are some awesome trails there. Reach out to The race organizer for “Enduro Colorado” I’d be willing to bet he could and would tell you a lot more about the area.
I hate rocks. I would've died on that course. :)
It was fun the first lap! The rocks never really let up.
Is this up in the red canyon area?
The race was on private property very close to the Red Canyon area.
Fantastic job! I can't wait to see the next video and what happened 😁
I should have that episode up next week some time.
Looks fun, except for that hill 🤪
It wasn’t too bad I just got out of balance and lost my momentum at a bad spot. I made it clean on the second day.
Love it! Congrats on the progress and your IG duck face is on point 😆
I couldn’t help my self to poke some fun at all the girls I saw on those bridges doing their IG duck faces lol
Fun to watch! Great job on the video. Interesting to see your bike fly out from under you going up that hill. A little disappointed you didn't get your fall on video 😉 good job overall and getting first! Keep up the good work.
I was bummed I missed it.
what row were you on?
I was on row 36 in Caprock.
I managed to beat your dad in this ONE section and I couldn't for the life of me remember what made it so special to my little 150. But I'm glad they didn't throw THIS one out!!! I wish they would've counted it TWICE!!! :)
Sometimes sections just click more than others.
You have any videos from Day 2 Test 4?
Sorry, I have like 3 minutes of Day 2 test 4. I started the test then for whatever reason and thought I forgot to turn it on and actually turned it off. I had a really high speed fall in test 4 so I was really bummed I missed it. I
@@hookedonenduro No worries! hope you didn't have any injuries from the fall!
@@lprasco21 I rang my bell a bit, but I'm all good!
Thanks for getting all of this. I used my GoPro for the 1st time and ran out of both battery and SD space. Only got a couple of tests.
No Problem, I missed Day 2 Test 4 and ended up a little short on test 5&6. I find I can get about 2 tests per battery and 128gig card is plenty depending on what setting you have it on.
What number were you? At 12:59, I got hung up on that little tree to the left and flipped off the bike into the gully. Picked up cactus and mesquite thorns. My butt's still sore!
I was on 31A. I swear every plant in that race are out for blood and have the fangs to do it!
@@hookedonenduro HA!!!! You're Eric. I'm Bryan. I'm in your class (#38B a Lone Star). I got 3rd but I know Test 4 was a scoring error because I walked up the Mule to see if my son had come thru and the reader clocked me in. I completely forgot to let the final score desk know about that and as a result, they had me at least 10 minutes slow. Look at the results and you'll see what I mean. Now... off to study your lines. :) Thanks for the video... I left my GoPro mounting screw at home that day.
Close, but not Eric. My Dad and I weren’t on our regular rows since our spots were reserved by TSCEC riders. I race the B 30+ class. Glad you enjoyed the footage. I’m going to try to get most of the RMEC events up this season.
I'll be watching your videos Jason
Thanks!
Yeah!!!! Way to get the first video up. Excited to watch your journey!
Yes! Thank you!
