Fahrenheit 2024 Artist Panel with Adam Chau & Peter Olson
Tune into the April 25, 2024 Virtual Panel Discussion with Adam Chau and Peter Olson, two artists whose work is included in our current exhibition Fahrenheit 2024. Gain firsthand insights about how the inspiration, concept, and process works for these creative individuals. This panel of Fahrenheit artists dive into the cultural inspirations and technical processes that have shaped their artistic development. Exhibition co-curator Pam Aliaga guides the conversation.
About the Artists:
Adam Chau works primarily in ceramics and operates a studio in Connecticut. After receiving a BFA degree (MECA, 2010) in studio ceramics, he decided to pursue industrial ways of production by receiving a Masters in Design (SAIC, 2013). He has exhibited and lectured internationally with a wide publication list on his research into ceramic technology. In 2018, he was awarded the NCECA Emerging Artist Fellowship and in 2019 became a member of the International Academy of Ceramics. He is the Exhibitions Manager for New York State’s largest independent arts council, ArtsWestchester, and currently the Director of Exhibitions for NCECA.
Peter Olson is a trained professional photographer, who over the past six years has explored new frontiers in the medium with his entrée to ceramics. He is inspired by museum collections and throngs of hurried pedestrians in NYC and other large metropoles. The repetition and rhyming of ritual, both daily and religious, act as a baseline for the bands of imagery that play like sheet music around his ceramic garnitures. The kaleidoscopic photo-collages wrap around the pieces completely, including the interiors, creating moments of surprise, and hint at narratives as the past and present melt into one another.
About the Exhibition:
Fahrenheit 2024 presents 100 pieces selected by juror Kathy King from hundreds submitted in response to AMOCA’s open call. The selected pieces created by contemporary artists range from more traditional vase and vessel forms to large-scale wall installations. While all pieces are mainly ceramic, visitors to Fahrenheit 2024 will encounter additional materials including hair, insulated wire, audio components, wax candles, a zip tie, and found objects. In Fahrenheit 2024, viewers are invited to consider traditional and innovative practices in ceramics, witnessing the range of creativity, technique, and inspiration these contemporary ceramic artists draw upon.

Beautiful sharing my friend
............................................................. Great video! Relax! With bated breath I watch the work of talented craftsmen. Human creativity comes from God! Beautiful, ancient art that has retained its relevance and relevance to this day. There is always at least one ceramic product in every home. Even in ancient times, potters fashioned vessels from clay and fired them to make them hard and waterproof. Potters typically worked alone, although some had apprentice assistants. Fragments of ceramics are often found at archaeological sites, sometimes in large quantities. Archaeologists study these fragments to determine which culture they belong to. Sometimes entire products are found with contents that are perfectly preserved without losing their useful properties. For example, the seeds of cereal crops, which after centuries were able to germinate. Marvelous! Archaeologists are excavating layer by layer to understand exactly when there were settlements in those places. Judging by the number of fragments discovered, scientists are also trying to determine what the population density was there and uncover interesting historical facts. The Potter's power over the clay helps to illustrate the power Jehovah has over individuals and nations. «But now, O Jehovah, thou art our Father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.»( Bible). The product glorifies the master with its uniqueness, and man, the crown of God’s creations, glorifies him with his abilities!
This video was what iniatially inspired me to sculpt

Qué Bueno .. Buenísimo...Un beso hija... TE QUIERO MUCHO..
Lovely!
Really enjoyed this. My greatest reflection is on the American citizens' perception of China. Having traveled there in 2019, I went with a decent amount of fear of China. That fear was immediately non-existent upon my arrival. I met people; wonderful, kind, welcoming and fun people. I can't wait to go back.
The music does not improve this footage
This is so cool to see young folks interested in this art form.
amazing art from this young generation throughout this nation. Many other youngsters can take lessons from these talented artists.
I remember going to AMOCA. I seen these men at work! they are awesome. I asked where they purchased their tools. they dont, they make them themselves. Their work is so sophisticated and elegant. I hope I get to see them again.
“I seen” is incorrect grammar and makes you sound uneducated. Do better.
I have tears in my eyes, never seen such beautiful ceramics! Great arts- i love it! Thanks for sharing with us!
