Budget Dashcam Battle (Crosstour vs Apeman)
Today I'm testing out and reviewing two cheaper dashcams, the $20 Crosstour CR250 and the $45 Apeman C450a. Is that extra twenty five bucks worth the upgrade? Find out now!

2009 P71 Crown Vic Walk Around
zhlédnutí 178Před 3 lety
Just a quick walk around of my 09 CVPI. I’ll probably be uploading more videos of all the things I’ve changed/added to this car as well as my plans for what I’m doing next
Those little bulbs you wonder what are are strobe lights. They are deactivated. Maybe just need fuse.
Amateur hour bud use heat shrink connectors or heat shrink and connectors not scotch locks there as bad as wire nuts 😂
I had pulled many of these type of steering wheel from Crown victories you do not need a puller. All you need is a T-10 Torx bit socket to remove the center bolt. Then grab the steering wheel and shake back-and-forth left or right up down and it will come off..
Look in the owners manual and it tells you how to reprogram the TPMS. Not sure about the Forscan way, it’s possible
I did my intake manifold. Wasn’t bad at all
You have to be going faster than 30mph. CC is already active.
What housings are those? Been thru 3 different sets of leds, beam pattern shoots everywhere. Been looking to find a nice line. Currently have aftermarket oe style housings.
I got these ones from Razor Motor off eBay: www.ebay.com/itm/273503024149 The pattern is pretty solid, but it's hard to beat oem
Where did you find the push bar?
The bar was already installed when I bought the car, but the brand is Go Rhino. I think I've seen full kits for installing them on eBay before as well
@@connorkeefe good deal, I'll check it out. I appreciate that, and good content 💪🏾
Everything is informative can you please stop the gum chewing
Where do you have LED turn signals in this video?
I think I accidentally cut it out of the video, but @4:46 I spliced my low beam wire and connected the cornering bulb’s negative wire to that. That's what makes the cornering bulbs blink when the signal is used. (My low beam wire was green and white, but I've heard it can be brown too.)
hey man what model lights are those 2 behind your grill?
I was going to put LED headlights but the are illegal according to Federal DOT standards. Can only be used off road. I would put them in my Grand Marquis but NY cops are asses and would ticket me as soon as they see them.
perfect timing. I have new housings and LED's in the mail. I'll do the flash mod too--hey but the alternating flash was best.
The small light in the corners are for the wig-wag flashers for cop cars. Headlights blink alternately and the tail and corner lights flash alternately too. It can be turned on by having the PCM reprogrammed.
Good work , I think I'll slice into each sides turn single wires than run new wires and add another socket with amber led bulbs so both flash at sane time .
I also installed Led for my headligt in my crown vic, and some ledlight in the bumperhole. Its fine in the dark winteroad here in Norway. There will be some noise from the cooling fan, the other led lights(H1) has cooling ribbon ''tale''. Its a big different when using Led light. These has been working for many years
I'll agree on that, the difference is super noticeable and I definitely can't go back to standard lights. Super cool to hear you've got a Crown Vic up in Norway too!
@@connorkeefe My friend and I did import two 2004 Ford Crown Victoria LX in 2006, Maroon and Arizona Beige(color). Very happy with these car. Crown Vic are the best car ever made, will last for a long time.
Why did you have to change it?
The old wheel's grip was really worn down and the rubber had begun falling off in some places. Plus the added cruise control was something I had wanted for a while
@@connorkeefe oh I see! I'm happy you got what you needed. I enjoyed the video. Did your car have the wiring for cruise control even though your steering wheel didn't have the buttons? I have a 99 grand marquis and the key cylinder froze up and I couldn't start the car. I spent 3 days going back to it in a lot trying to unlock it by shaking the steering wheel and wiggling the key and all the tricks to free it up. Eventually I called a tow to have it brought home so I can drill it out and put a new one in but the tow guy offered to try and he violently rocked the steering wheel (as I been for 3 days) and got it to start. So I got it home, removed the cylinder and waited for the new one however now the steering wheel feels really lose it actually moves by itself left and right about 2 inches each way while driving but the car stays straight. I was trying to see videos on what it could be and came across your video. My tie rods, ball joints and all that are new. I think something within the steering column went bad and trying to find what. I see the wheel is help on with that one nut I wish to find out what's inside there behind that nut and where there steering goes through the firewall. I feel like thats where my issue is.
In the manual on page 3 it states 10 seconds Per test with 1 minute cool down and it states 3 tests in 5 minutes.
It would have been nice if you didn't edit out the splice on the side marker light at 4:46. I want to see where you spliced the wire on the side marker light. Everybody has a video where they show the splice at the turn signal bulb, but not the splice on the side marker light. 🤬 Geez man, really???
I think I just forgot to film that part, but what you have to do is splice your low beam wire and connect the cornering bulb’s negative wire to that. My low beam wire was green and white, but I've heard it can be brown too
Those weird looking lights on the sides are strobe lights
2:25 why she didnt work i have like this problem
The horns on mine are rewired, so that probably messes with the system and prevents them from turning on and off with the keys. The alarm system should still work, but you have to disarm it manually without the button
Do you have a link to the led bulbs?
The ones that I got are no longer available, but there's an almost identical pair on Amazon called Poison Scorpion 9007 LED Bulbs. Those should fit the same way in any newer vic
@@connorkeefe Mint,Thank you for the information
My load test was just slightly in the yellow weak range under 11 volts. My starter having trouble starting with first try . Try a new battery or use this to test starter ?
Just under 11v should be fine for the load test, but I’d also check what the voltage drops to when starting. If it drops below 10v, then you might need a recharge or like you said a new battery
@@connorkeefe how do check the load when starting ? This tester doesn't do this right ? Or you're talking about testing charger part of the user manual ? Hook up then crank it to see what it does ?
@@connorkeefe it's been fully charged I even took it to long road trip to charge it and checked it with this meter and it's about 13 volts.
I'd just take a video of what the reading is when starting and check it out after. If the engine cranks though and will eventually start, it might not be the battery that's the issue, but it could be a fuel/spark problem
@@connorkeefe it might be getting better in that sometimes now it starts up on the first try. The very first original battery was tested by competent mechanic and again by myself with this tester and found to be very defective . Myself using this tester under load test it failed miserably needle went to zero . Took it to O'Reilly's and had car scanned. Threw up a few codes. When I changed battery I had to remove air filter housing and disconnect air mass connection and forgot to reconnect it and ran it. That may be why now code for it showed up. Before over a year ago this car has thrown up codes and mysteriously just stopped showing codes . Right now runs good normal after it starts . Have you heard of this happening in similar situations ?
I would like to do the same, how did you make it flash together?
You have to splice your low beam wire and connect the cornering bulb’s negative wire to it. The colors might be a bit different, but my low beam wire was green and white
cool, my corner turn lights never worked ,so which wire had to be spliced both positive and negative?
I took the cornering light's negative wire and spliced it into the low beam wire on the headlight (mine was green and white)
@@connorkeefe thanks for the reply , i appreciate it
Can you do a video on fixing the blinking tire light on your dash, reason I’m asking is because mine Doing the same thing and I want to pass my inspection 😂
That's actually something I'm still trying to figure out myself lol. Panzer Platform has a great video on how to use a tool to reset that TPMS sensor which turns off that light. My problem is that I can't get my vic to enter "learning" mode which is one of the steps you need to take.
@@connorkeefe if it’s blinking and stays on i think you haft to change your sensors in your tires
Dang, looks like I've got some work to do then. Might look into getting some replacements and testing which ones are out
With this mod, the turn signal will flash with the side marker at the same time when parking lights are off. When parking lights are on, they will flash alternating.
Just tested this out a few minutes ago and it looks like that's exactly the case! Wish I could get them to stay consistent but that'll be a project for another day
@@connorkeefe Did you get to fixing the turn signal and side marker flashing alternatively?
Indeed, I use my cruise control a lot and it does come in handy.
So I would just need a ground marckey door Module to be able to use my key fob?
Just make sure it a 2008+ GM module and you should be good to go
Ok cool bc I have a 2011 p7b but I have no door lock cycle
got a link to the headlights you bought?
Got them off eBay a while back for about $60, but it seems the price has gone up: www.ebay.com/itm/273503024149
Media blast and powder coat looks amazing aswell cheers from South Africa
What’s the details for the bulbs so I can buy me some????
The bulbs were from 4WDKING, but it looks like they're discontinued now. If you're looking for some like these, make sure they're 9007/HB5 LEDs (should fit 98-11 Vics)
@@connorkeefe ok and what about the turn signals? And would I need some for the back
I left all the other bulbs as stock. Changing out those ones for LEDs can cause hyperflash if you don't have relays, and I don't really know enough about wiring to use them
Subscribed. What was the brand of LED headlights you installed and where were they purchased? I know you got them on a giveaway- do you know where Panzer platform got them?
The brand was 4WDKING, but it looks like these specific lights have been taken off the site. I did manage to find a very similar clone of these on Amazon though, and they're called POISON SCORPION 9007 LED Bulbs. Looks like they'll fit 98-2011 Crown Vics too
@@connorkeefe thanks brother. I just ordered the NiLights brand LED Panzer platform reviews 6 months ago.
@@SGAOuTLaWzhave a link?
when load testing you need to pull half of the cca amps so if you have a 550 cca battery you need to pull 250 amps ! maybe a good volt meter LOL
So when the parking/headlights are on, they still illuminate until you go to turn and after which, they flash for the turn signal indicators? If so awesome. I never likes how so many vehicles don't have some marker turn signals to make turning safer etc.
The amber lights do exactly that. It looks like I forgot to add that to the video, but you can get a preview of them in the thumbnail
great job ,nice to meet you! #30
Right on Connor, Thanks again for helping me out with this Collab. 1:11 Charge the battery! Lol - 2:06 Hey!!! I bought an Apeman too. Lol I found the C550 for $27 on Amazon right after I bought the CR250, and I had to try it. I love these little cheap things. Lol - 3:30 The first email I sent to Crosstour to request a firmware update I got a reply and the return email address was “apeman support” . LMAO - 4:33 Hey, dig those fancy LED headlights. Lol - 5:30 AND it’s upside down. Lol - -Chuck
I can tell a slight difference in the video quality, but the sound quality sounded exactly the same on both
great introduction with the $20 bill!
Yo Connor, My original comment isn't showing because I left the email address to tech support. You may need to "approve" my comment in your studio settings. -Chuck
I took a look around but the comment doesn’t seem to be showing up on the studio side either. It’s probably due to some classic CZcams error shenanigans
@@connorkeefe Thanks for checking. I'll try again.
Great vid man! editing is getting better! - Max
Great video! Thanks for your review and comparisons. I like the commercial editing.
New subscriber here from Panzer Platform! Great video and congrats on winning the giveaway.
the dome light is something you can activate with FORScan - and you can get rid of the TPMS light with FORScan.
Update on the Cruise Control situation: It works! After fiddling around with the buttons while driving, I realized that I have to be accelerating in order to enable the set speed for cruise control. The light shows up on the dash and the rest of the buttons work like new
Congrats!
you made that look super easy. I haven't ever had to take one off but now I know I can do it. I bet you can turn on cruise with the full version of Forscan but I don't know for sure.
I just checked, and Forscan does not have a simple "cruise on/off" button like it does for other things. So it is probably one of those weird programmable things.
great vid, getting that steering wheel off is like trying to circumcise a cat
Right on Connor, Your editing is getting so much better. Lol I have a feeling this time next year your P71 will have morphed into a Town Car with all the upgrades you've done. Lol As soon as I get my hands on a Windows PC I'm going to start making FORScan videos showing how you enable / disable things like DRL's and Cruise Control. -Chuck
Hey Connor! Came from Panzer Platform's channel! Nice installation vid! Looking forward to more videos man!
Thanks for stopping by! I'll be posting a new video soon so stay tuned
Nice video. replacing the coil is easy, no worries
