There is a so much safer and easier way to change a bungee on a PA24. I would never use this method.
Poor way to remove a bungee under a load. Tool should never go banging around.
This is the wrong way to remove and replace the bungee. Very BAD tutorial. Spend the money and buy the tool.

It only takes about an hour to do both and it can be done by the owner.

Thanks for the video, new comanche 260 owner here. I was trying to visualize how exactly the bungees worked and this was perfect!
I cut them off, slowly. Just a few strands at a time. To reinstall, I lower the gear manually on to an old tire so they don’t go down and locked. That way I can manipulate the gear by hand while under the wing. It makes it a one man job.

@@stevenvlog8398 Jack the plane. Raise the gear. Position an old tire under one side of the main gear. Release the manual gear extension mechanism and gently lower the gear until it contacts the tire. Now you can move the gear up and down from under the wing. It makes getting to some of those grease fittings easy too.
