    Bra video! Funderar på att byta ut mitt ljusa helskinn till svart helskinn i min 05 V70. Stolarna jag funderar på att köpa har airbagen borttagen. Skulle du säga att det är enklast att flytta över airbagen från mina befintliga stolar till de nya, eller att klä om mina gamla stolar med de nya stolarnas klädsel? Och vad bör jag tänka på för att slippa få en airbag i huvudet när jag gör detta? Tack!

    • @trucksandcars5850
      @trucksandcars5850 Před 9 měsíci

      Tackar! Jag skulle nog bara flytta över airbagarna. De är elstyrda så när stolarna är ute ur bilen och kontakten till airbagarna är urkopplad, så är det ingenting som kan hända. Såvida du inte får för dig att koppla 12v på kablarna, och det vore dumt. Jobb med airbag är lite riskabelt, men går att jobba med. Egentligen skall man alltid koppla bort batteriet först. Men på en V70 -05 så är jag osäker på att bilen gillar att man kopplar bort batteriet? Kan bli problem med elektroniken efteråt. Så koppla bara bort kontakten under stolarna när du plockar ur dem. Skall inte vara några problem. Men fråga din lokala volvo verkstad, om du kan koppla bort batteriet utan att det händer något. Men säg ingenting om vad du skall göra för ingrepp, då kan de säga att nej det är för farligt blablabla. Tänk bara på att skaffa stolar till rätt bil. I denna filmen så satte jag stolar från en -05 i en bil från -03. Det visade sig att kontakterna är helt annorlunda och att infästningen i golvet inte stämmer helt. Då gör du bäst i att flytta över klädseln istället. Hoppas att mitt svar är tillfredställande 🙂

      Tack för snabbt och utförligt svar! 🙂 Okej, då förstår jag. Är det bara en airbag per stol eller finns det flera? Var sitter den? Sitter den i ryggstödsdelen av stolen? Det finns ingen risk att den utlöser trots att elen är bortkopplad? Det är jag osäker på hur 05 reagerar med bortkopplat batteri. Stefan Bergman här på youtube hade ju en V70 (06 tror jag det var) där han kopplade bort batteriet i ett antal av sina videos, bland annat att plocka ur inredningen. Och den verkade inte protestera efteråt, och både min och hans är facelift. Stolen ska vara rätt modell. Jag har telefon, helskinn, elmanövrering, minne osv i mina. Och de jag har hittat är också facelift fast från en S60. Vad jag har läst mig till är all interiör identisk med V70 fram till B-stolpen så framstolar från S60 ska passa i V70. Och jag antar att det är samma kontakter på alla facelift-stolar då? Stolarna jag har hittat har samma utrustning som mina nuvarande, enda som saknas är airbags. Hur gör jag förresten när man ska ta loss klädseln från sittdynan om det blir aktuellt att jag endast flyttar över klädseln?

    You mentioned that you like to keep everything 'stock' even mentioning that you prefer halogen lights on the interior - a man after my own heart! What's your view on the 960/S90 compared to the 940? We've had a 940 from new, also a 98 C70, and was always a bit curious about the 960/S90. Anything to look out for or model years or engines to avoid or pursue? Cheers from Ireland!

    • @trucksandcars5850
      @trucksandcars5850 Před rokem

      Hello Luke! I'm happy to hear that we think the same 🙂 My view on the two is, the 960 is much more comfortable then the 940, especially after year model -95. Then they got a different suspension in the front and a whole new rear axle with a leafspring that don't need to be replaced, if you maintain your car. (Meaning that you don't drive with bad rear shocks, this will break it) . The car also have more insulation, making it more silent inside. You can speak in a normal voice tune even in 120 km/h. And the design is so much better in the interior, with a good looking wooden panel and a bigger armrest, to say some differences. The stereo is also better in the 960 with a double din. and 6.5" speakers in the doors, making the sound just that much better. But there I replaced mine with a Pioneer since we use bluetooth this days with music on different devices and also handsfree. Me I prefer the 960 over the 940. Only for the better ride experience. But I do like the 940 as well, they all their own good and bads. The 960 doesn't come with Turbo, so the 960 is not as easy to increase the hp, if you would like to that is... About the different engines. There is not really anyone that is worse than the other. But me myself prefer the 3.0 204hp machine over the 2.5 170 hp because of the higher power, and there is no big difference in fuel consumption (Volvo even stated that the 2.5 engine give worse fuel economy then the 3.0, given the 2.5 was only produced because of tax laws in some countries), the automatic gearbox is almost bulletproof and is very smooth! (The same as in Toyota Supra, with some tiny differences) What you need to look for is on a 960 is: 1: If the car have a blown head gasket. My experience is that it is better to swap engine then to replace the gasket, if the engine got to hot. and that usually happens in around 350.000km to 400.000km. but keeping a eye on the coolant level is a good safety procussion! (960 even has a warning light that comes up if the level is going down.) 2: the rear shocks. On many 960 they are self leveling, and quite expensive to replace. about 300 euro each. 3: now when the 960 start to age the e-brake wire is also a thing to look at, it is quite hard to replace and just the wire is around 200 euro. But other then this is just question on how they maintained it in the past. I have a S90 Executive level 1 -98 with 500.000km on it and still drives well! Yes I replaced 2 engines on it, but it was not so much the cars fault, more mechanic issues. The 1 engine blow the head gasket at 380.000km, first I replaced the gasket and then after 2 weeks it started to take water again, nd after that I swapped the engine. The 2 engine, there was someone, that dropped a small metallic ball in one of the cylinders, making it go bad. So I replaced it again 🙂 I also have a 960 -95. But it just starts and drives. No mayer problems on it. he old owner sold it because it didn't start. But me knowing that it can be difficult to start if you just start it cold and then turn it off just some minutes after, before it got in the working temperature, it can sound like there is no compression, in the engine. But just crank it, and maybe put some drops of oil in the cylinders, it will start again. So I did this and it has been running ever since. hey are very easy to work on yourself. I do everything myself! I replace engines like if it would be a brake job, it is not hard to do! 😉 This is my thoughts his evening, feel free to ask again 🙂

      @@trucksandcars5850 Sir, what a fantastic comment! What I'm going to do is paste it into a notepad file and keep it for whenever I start having a look into the 960/S90. Here in Ireland, the 2.5 is (was) a lot cheaper to tax, so that makes sense - but given the age of the cars, soon both will have a nominal motor tax fee, so it sounds like the 3.0 is the one to have. I previously read about them having issues with timing belts when they were new - I presume that issue was sorted out. I think I have a HG issue on our C70, after it got parked for a few years, so it does appear the 'white block' is prone to this issue. The head also cracked on our 940's red block..! Back in 1998, my friend's father was a chairman of the bank here, and they gave him a new S90 as a company car. I rode in it once but was surprised to hear that not long after he traded it for a Ford Scorpio..! Madness! I also rode in the Scorpio and I thought it was the biggest load of crap I'd ever been in. Anyway, thanks very much for taking the time to write such a detailed response and I'll be sure to ask you some questions if I come across a car locally. Best from Ireland!

      Sorry for a late answer. I'm happy to be at help. :-) Sure go ahead to save it for later view :-D The 960 had some problems with the timing belts. But I do think that the main problem was, that people didn't really pay attention to when to change them. 1990 they needed to be changed very 30.000 kilometers, that's very often! So I believe that people ambled a little bit, thinking that they would last a little bit longer then that. Then the changing intervals got extended by the year -92 or 93 and again in -94. But only slightly, think that 1994 got 75.000 km. Then by the year model 1995 they increased it to 120.000 km or 8 years and that is how it remained -95-98. so much better :-) It seem like the C70 had some antifreeze problems. (that the antifreeze was of the wrong type or too little and to much water, this can cause the aluminium to oxidate and then the hg won't seal properly) This is my guess. Your friends father was not a bright man even if he worked at bank I must say. :-D No you can't really compare a S90 to a Scorpio! Or he was not just used with the rear wheel drive and icy roads perhaps? Go ahead and ask at any time! :-) Best from Sweden!

      I take that as a compliment ;-) Well at least not on the 900 series. Volvo didn't like showing screws, so they hide them pretty well, and then you don't know if there is a screw or a clips :-(
