" My friend Bob and I struggled to move our feet through large snowdrifts. The wind blew at a strong speed, snow flakes flew straight into the face, thereby impairing visibility. We were very tired, as we had been walking for about two hours without stopping in such conditions. Suddenly Bob shouted: “Look, Richard! Over there, in the distance, do you see the house? This is our salvation, we need to go there.” I looked in the direction Bob was pointing, and indeed I saw a small speck in the distance that looked like a house. We were happy and began to walk a little faster in the direction of the house we saw. Approaching the front door, I knocked. No one answered the door, so I knocked again. Bob at this time walked around the house and said, “Richard, there is someone in the house, because from the window I saw a burning fireplace and smoke coming from the chimney.” Now he began to knock on the door harder and more assertively. Suddenly, to our surprise, a stern male voice sounded outside the door: “Who are you, what brought you here?” Bob said we needed help because we were behind the tour group. After that, the door swung open. Behind her stood a man, about 50 years old, with a gray thick beard and a stern appearance. “Come into the house, just be sure to take off your shoes, my place is clean.” We did just that, the house was really very clean and comfortable. Although the house itself was very old and was built of wood. Then we took off our outer clothes and sat on the floor by the fireplace to warm up. The man, the owner of the house, retired to the kitchen and then returned with three mugs of hot aromatic tea. This was useful, since Bob and I were very cold. While drinking tea, we got into a conversation with the owner of the house, his name was James. Despite his external sternness, he turned out to be a very friendly and hospitable person. Then, he fed us and showed us a separate room with a fireplace where we could spend the night. We were glad that we saw this house, since it was dangerous to be in the forest in such weather. The room was very cozy and warm, it was also made of wood. There was a fireplace and two beds, one of which I literally fell onto and instantly fell asleep. " To be continued...
