A couple of years back I bumped into Ian mcnabb in Liverpool and recited the opening lines to him thinking he would be pleased but he just walked through me as if I wasn’t really there …..admittedly he did look like one of the flowerpot men …..bill or Ben I can’t be sure

each new section is just bristling with new ideas from each player, yet they complement, anticipate and enhance each other perfectly. i would imagine the arrangement is very tight, not all that much improv. relatively speaking, but the arrangement is utterly mindblowing. i wonder if chet atkins got to hear this, i would think he would be filled with joy. steve has taken that influence and more, to the next level, and what he has done here is a spectacular showcase of rockabilly/country guitar, in a rock context. this is unique - at least, i have not encountered anything like it. the closest i can think of is danny gatton e.g. "remington ride" - another person who studied chet atkins and les paul - and extended it. totally different, yet something in common: czcams.com/video/KcDzFBupEMw/video.html

It's difficult to describe how much I love both this song and Mr. Michael McDonald for agreeing to sing it. My understanding is that he had severe reservations, and was saying things like "Well, beggars can't be choosers" during the recording session -- but I do NOT care. He still had enough of a sense of humor to do it, and I'm grateful to him, Trey, and Matt for gifting us with this masterpiece that's equal parts beautiful, hilarious, and satirical. Thank you, gentlemen. Thank you so much.
