Too many tipping points have already passed. Too many self reinforcing warming feedback loops have been triggered into action. Abrupt climate change isn't even the real problem, but only one of the results. Biological overshoot, on a massive scale, is the real issue. The real "serious consequences" will be when the current inter-glacial warm period ends and temperatures in the northern hemisphere will be below zero all year round. This could happen at any time - and it happens fast - as we can see from the ice core and other data. Some countries are already preparing for this by building hundreds of new power stations. Their scientists are telling them the truth.
