    18:12 the mechanical equivalent would be a stop check valve (normally closed solenoid/pneumatic control would be most similar to scr). Love ur videos btw, helps me learn and actually helped me during my interview for ups'. Used to work in a nuclear power plant

    So are the ground fault detectors typically wired to the load side of the DC breakers? If not then opening the breaker would disconnect the fault detection and there would beno balance anymore.

    Questions: 1. How the contractual requirements between Ametek and Saft work on the project/PO level? Is Ametek Vendor providing single solution? Or Is this a JV? 2. The new lithium batteries chemistry introduce a lot of technical requirements for the batteries and interactions during operation. It seems the model of how electronics - battery is should be working and interfacing is not established yet. How Ametek assures they have all the info from Saft to implement system properly?

    I want to correct a comment mentioned in this video. I state that nowhere in IEE450 does it mention using internal resistance as a maintenance tool. This is not true. Although it is not mentioned anywhere in the recommendations for maintenance of a vented lead acid battery it is mentioned in an annex at the end of the report. I apologize if I misled anyone.

    Are you still around? I started a project of an off grid power supply for my new C-PAP [sleep apnia] machine that requires pure sine wave, and a few lights , using a new pure sine wave, " APC Back-UPS Pro 1000 S BR1000MS", with larger battery for longer run time because I lose power here a lot. My older non- sine wave UPS worked for years with my old CPAP . But after hauling everything out to the shed. and try it out, I found out that this [used but new] " APC Back-UPS Pro 1000 S BR1000MS" , which is supposed to be so smart and has a nice battery monitoring and load display and calculates time load voltage and also protects from high low and surge voltagages, was a lie. its all fake. this has no clue what the battery is doing. it seems to just have some kind of timer. make you wait 16 hours to get 15 minutes of runtime no mater if your battery if full charged when you put it in or if ,like me, use a 100 amp hour battery . 16 hours, for 15 minutes. can you point me to a schematic or idea of how to disable this . none of it is really needed anyway because it is all done via Bluetooth .to my phone ,from the battery. just looking for the easy ,cheap way out.

    When normal power is lost, but normal power is fed thru ATS and you get normal power back within a couple of cycles; what are the sequence of the UPS? my understanding is to batterie power and back to normal after normal is restore to UPS

      Ricardo. When you have an ATS feeding the normal power (rectifier/charger) to the UPS, when normal power is lost a standby generator will start. This generator usually takes around 30 seconds to 1 minute to start and get up to speed. After it is up to speed, the ATS will transfer power supplied to the rectifier/charger to the generator. During the 30 seconds to 1minute, there will be no power into the rectifier/charger. Therefore the battery will supply the inverter while the generator is starting. Once the generator is on and the ATS transfers, power will be returned to the charger/rectifier section of the UPS and the batteries will start to charge again. It should be noted that the ATS does not have anything to do with the load circuits. Only the input power to the rectifier charger section of the UPS.

    in ferroresonant transformer type Inverter, IGBTs are switched are at constant frequency (50/60Hz). while in PWM type inverters, IGBTs are switched at varying frequency. kindly correct if i am wrong

    I have the the arrangement where two sources are connected on the same battery bank 12* 4 =48 volts. One is solar through a charge controller , the other source is a rectifier connected to the load as well which source would charge the batteries and drive the load ?

      Function of the external transformer is to step up/down voltage, or derive a neutral source, or create a solid ground source for the ups. Not ideal to place motor load on ups as it will overload it during startup due to high in rush

      Isolation of the inverter or electronic system in the inverter against inrush currents arising from industrial loads. Basically, it is for safety purposes of the UPS systems.
