Sorry the kilt dressware is a disaster. They should phase out the fashion and use a male dressware either way. It's a skirt for females and they shouldn't be sold to males because it is very strange and weakening. It goes against marriage and who cares about ancient types of dressware anyway. It's no different to a man wearing a brassiere for no reason.

I hope he plays the pipes well. Brogues: three twists in front five in back. Belt or vest, not both. Velcro Flashes? They make knit ones that you tie. Sgian Dubh means "Dark" or "Hidden" knife. It was removed from it's concealed location in your jacket, and placed visibly in the sock as a demonstration of trust. Never-the-less put it in the sock on the side of your dominant hand. Scottish trust can be very fickle.

The number one priority in wearing a kilt is putting it on at the right height. So this dude is WRONG. It DOES matter where it sits on the hips! Consider that the kilt was made to fit in a certain way, and if it isn't worn as the tailor intended, it's not going to be comfortable and it's going to look and feel crap! When a tailor measures you for a fitted kilt, they get you to kneel on the floor, back straight. They then measure you from below the lowest rib to the floor. That's the "drop". This is the most important measurement and for a person of average 5'8" in height, that should come in around 23-1/2" or so. Once you have your kilt, you're going to wear it as the tailor measured you for it, so kneel UPRIGHT in front of a mirror and set the kilt so the hem just barely touches the floor- THAT'S WHY THE TAILOR MEASURED YOU THAT WAY and it's how the military teach soldiers to wear the kilt. The garment was designed to fit you that way!

I'd never wear one (French descent) but regardless, if I wore one I'd be giving validation to this awful idea that "if a man wants to wear a skirt, it HAS to be a kilt!" The reason they say this is because to an extent, "THE" kilt is already part of people's mentality. It's things new to them that upset the conformist faction. And if "THE" kilt didn't already exist, no Scot today anywhere on Planet Earth would invent it, because innovation is always opposed! Meantime in apparel, women get the entire playing field and no one slams them over wanting variety!

And I have never in all my years wearing a kilt seen anyone overlapping the top of their hose 3 or 4 times at the top EVER!. And please re-do your Ghillie Brogues laces! But you did get some things right. But I think you should know how to put on a Highland kilt outfit before posting it on CZcams has others will see this and be doing things wrong also.

We shall them stockings in the Northeast a d New England. Since knee breaches are out of fashion and trousers or pants are in, only we northerners still wear stockings(wool usually) to fend off jack frost. If people can still wear kilts, I say we Yankees bring back knee breaches, wigs and tricorn hats. Men will be dressed hilariously again.

I never forget, in secondary school, a student laughingly talked about Scottish menwearing kilts in history class. The history teacher gave the following answer: "In the humid and foggy mountains, trousers get wet and make you very uncomfortable, while the kilt provides comfortable movement, hardly gets wet and dries quickly. Scots see the kilt as a symbol of bravery as opposed to femininity."
