Invitation to Family Day on the USS Eisenhower.
My wife Nannette and I with our youngest Declan had the incredible opportunity to join our son oldest son Liam for Family Day on the USS Eisenhower for a "TIGER CRUISE." After flying under JFK's airspace along the beach in Queens and Brooklyn, we climbed up to 6,500 feet for the flight down to Norfolk, Virginia. The Tiger Cruise on the USS Eisenhower is a unique event that allows families of service members rare access to explore an aircraft carrier.
We flew our Piper Cherokee, tail number 6693J, from Long Island to Norfolk, and landed just ahead of summer thunderstorms. Two days later, we flew back to Long Island under beautiful skies, flying directly over JFK International Airport on the way home.

Our son Liam invited us to Family Day on the USS Eisenhower. One of the highlights (or THE highlight) was the Air Show that they put on for the guests. I can't believe we were so close to landing military aircraft. What a privilege!

Quick video of our trip to Binghamton and the opening of the crate filled with our Sling High Wing airplane parts. We would have opened a bottle of champagne to celebrate, but then I wouldn't have been able to fly back. Looking forward to working with Doug @DougGoodrich and bringing 825NT from an idea into reality.

2019 Father's Day Flight from Farmingdale (KFRG) to Sky Acres (44N)

I wanted to fly with Liam on Father's Day and go to lunch at Sky Acres. Great little restaurant on the field. However when we arrived we discovered that the restaurant had closed down 2 months prior. Not a problem. We flew back to Farmingdale and ate there.

Slow going at first. Will be posting more once all the parts come in and we really start going full bore into assembly. Waiting on our fuselage and landing gear.

0:18 The missile system shown is Russian and it is called "Neva" with him we overturned the US invisible plane F-117A NIGHTHAWK that happened when Serbia was battling on March 27, 1999. It's the only invisible plane that has been shot down in war actions to date!
We had a private tour by a guy named Miroslav who took us to Novi Sad in the vicinity of Belgrade. Excellent tour. Toward the end he mentioned that in 1999 the Serbian military had a Russian anti-aircraft missile operated by this guy who saw 4 planes in a diamond formation on the radar which he thought was strange. Then he saw a blip for a second in the center.... then a 2nd blip. He guessed that there was a stealth plane in the middle and fired the missile at the void in the center. Bingo... took down the F-117. Pure luck. There was a parade for him.
@@825novembertango- It was a combination of luck and skill! On one radar the reflection of an invisible plane is very small but with more radars it is a good target, in any case it is the only downside. The pilot of that plane was here visiting our officer who commanded that unit.
